Bad customer service and NOT reliable

After using their services multiple times, they have the bad habit of not showing up or showing up very late, or even worse cancelling your reservation! And this is without mentioning the more than 5 minutes waiting time to get someone on the phone and then going through an awful and long interragatory repeating several times your answers as the other person is either deaf or not listening to you. The only good thing is that drivers seem polite and the ride was comfortable on average, eventough all drivers do agree that Checker Cab really does not care and they all complain about it.

- Cons: Worse customer service, NOT reliable

This is what I wrote to the BBB (Atlanta) on 11/24/09:
I have been a long time rider with checker cab in Atlanta. For the most part, I have ok experiences with the drivers. However, as of late, I have been experiencing being stranded by drivers because they do not want to use my credit card because of them being taxed 10 percent or a refusal to pick up the call from the dispatcher to pick me up. I have been stranded twice by them or if not stranded, the drivers, not all, have been rude. Even the dispatchers are having trouble with some of the drivers. I have been in some serious trouble being late for work or family illness situations because of their refusal to pick me up because they do not want customers to use credit cards. I have never been rude or nasty to any of the drivers but this has got to be brought to the attention of Jeff Jackson, the general manager, who never seems to be in when I have a complaint. I am sure that other customers are facing the same problems as indicated by the dispatchers. The service level is extremely poor and uncalled for when you leave good, reliable customers stranded or refuse to pick the call up from the dispatchers.

So we called for a cab last night and they told us 5 to 15 min. 30 minutes goes by still no cab. We give them a call back for them to put us on hold for over ten minutes and then hung up on us! We give them a call back and they put us on hold again... When the guy got back on the line he said you cab will be there soon I have already spoken with you. Our cab never came. We called Rapid taxi and they were there in 5 min. Don't ever use CHECKER Cab they are the WORST!

Has anyone that lives in the less fortunate areas notice that when you call for a cab you will not get one.I live in a predominately black area thats is being revamped and looking better everyday!Unfortunately for people like myself who cant afford to live in Buckhead,or midtown they almost refuse to send me a cab!!!What kind of mess is that?How do they still exist,and who's in charge of this company a bunch of "REDNECKS"?Everyo'ne deserves a fair chance.

Their phone system far surpasses any cab company that I have spoken with in the Atlanta Area. I would highly recommend this company based on their high level of professionalism and genuine care for their customers. VERY HELPFUL! =]

Last night I called checker cab (A HUGE MISTAKE) hoping that they would get me to work on time,I called them 30 minutes ahead of time because I work with a company that uses them only when Lenox cab is not available (for some reason I did not think to call them) 30 minutes goes by no cab. I call my job to let them know my cab is running late, I call them back ,they say cab #162 will be here in 7 minutes.20 more minutes go by I call back to be transferred to this rude dispatcher who could care less laughs and says that he knew that he would not be on time but he will send cab #40 I ask him could you please tell him to hurry, he begins to scream "you should have called earlier that way you could have been to work on time!" I then ask him whats his name so I can report him.HE HANGS UP IN MY FACE!! This is the last straw!! Monday morning I will make it my business to report them to whoever I can to stop this disrespect against customers trying to PAY for a service that keeps them employed, don't just read this and forget , take action against this sorry excuse for a business! responding to skay and his infantile, crybaby review: Checker Cab is the most reliable cab co in atlanta or any other city-if you don't think so, try the rest-you'll go back to the best-skay-would you like a pacifier or a lolly pop ? I bet you gnaw your thumb and cry a lot. dont let this spoiled little boy and his tantrums dissuade you of riding a good company. the larger issue is atlanta taxi bureau and their mickey-mouse taxi classes and requirements. you can be brain dead, in a coma, and have lived in the USA 2 days and get a taxi permit here because of their lack of a real criteria and standards

Checker cab is unreliable, unfriendly, and not worth the money. They run an Atlanta monopoly, controlling all taxi drivers, charging up the roof, and disrespecting their customers. Tommy, a "dispatch manager" spoke to me like I was a child, condescending and obnoxious.
Today's incident with Checker marks the last in a string of obnoxious and miserable incidents with this corporation. After being told my wait for a taxi would be 5-15 minutes, no taxi had shown up for 45, Tommy Johns (the manager listed prior) had started a verbal spat with me on the phone as I waited, frustrated, for a taxi. No cab showed up for eventually an hour, as I waited with my elderly grandmother following a graduation ceremony. Ultimately, my whole family walked over a mile, my grandmother with her walker, back to my apartment, exhausted and frustrated. The Checker Cab dispatcher had ceased to answer any of my phone calls following his rude "hang-up."
This is not my first terrible encounter with them, either. After making reservations to be picked up to go to the airport in March at 8:45 am, specifying that I'd be on my way to a flight and that I needed them on time, they didn't show up til nearly 9:45, but by then I'd already gotten in my car and driven to the airport to avoid missing my flight. They were not apologetic in the least, the phone rang dozens of times, and what should have cost $40 to get to the airport cost almost $200 for 8 days of parking.
I will never, for the rest of my life, offer this company my business, and no one else should either. Inconsiderate, abusive, and monopolizing, Checker Cab treats its customers like the lowest of the low, and I for one am filing complaints with the city of Atlanta in order to see that their indifferent or disrespectful behavior stops once and for all.

I called Atl Checker Cab almost 20 minutes later than I was supposed to for a Client, and told them I needed them in 10 minutes and it was urgent. They were here on time! Amazing! Will definitely use again.
OMG! Worst Cab Company Ever!

Check Cab is by far the worst cab company I have ever used. Not only do I live 3 minutes away from the terminal (literally) and use them every morining to go to work....they continue to be late. I have to call them 30 minutes in advance just to get picked up. The customer service is horrible and the reps who answer the phone are unprofessional. Some mornings (like the previous person mentioned) you have to wait on the phone for minutes listening to that awful recording. Checker Cab needs new management and a new approach to customer service.

At least some of the other reviewers appeared to have gotten them on the phone. I have that recording that you hear when you call memorized because I have had to listen to it over and over and over again. I put the phone on speaker one day and timed it - 17 minutes on hold and still no one answered. Sounds like they do not need any further business. I am voting with my feet and walking.
