Checker cab is unreliable, unfriendly, and not worth the money. They run an Atlanta monopoly, controlling all taxi drivers, charging up the roof, and disrespecting their customers. Tommy, a "dispatch manager" spoke to me like I was a child, condescending and obnoxious. Today's incident with Checker marks the last in a string of obnoxious and miserable incidents with this corporation. After being told my wait for a taxi would be 5-15 minutes, no taxi had shown up for 45, Tommy Johns (the manager listed prior) had started a verbal spat with me on the phone as I waited, frustrated, for a taxi. No cab showed up for eventually an hour, as I waited with my elderly grandmother following a graduation ceremony. Ultimately, my whole family walked over a mile, my grandmother with her walker, back to my apartment, exhausted and frustrated. The Checker Cab dispatcher had ceased to answer any of my phone calls following his rude "hang-up." This is not my first terrible encounter with them, either. After making reservations to be picked up to go to the airport in March at 8:45 am, specifying that I'd be on my way to a flight and that I needed them on time, they didn't show up til nearly 9:45, but by then I'd already gotten in my car and driven to the airport to avoid missing my flight. They were not apologetic in the least, the phone rang dozens of times, and what should have cost $40 to get to the airport cost almost $200 for 8 days of parking. I will never, for the rest of my life, offer this company my business, and no one else should either. Inconsiderate, abusive, and monopolizing, Checker Cab treats its customers like the lowest of the low, and I for one am filing complaints with the city of Atlanta in order to see that their indifferent or disrespectful behavior stops once and for all.

I called Atl Checker Cab almost 20 minutes later than I was supposed to for a Client, and told them I needed them in 10 minutes and it was urgent. They were here on time! Amazing! Will definitely use again.

Check Cab is by far the worst cab company I have ever used. Not only do I live 3 minutes away from the terminal (literally) and use them every morining to go to work....they continue to be late. I have to call them 30 minutes in advance just to get picked up. The customer service is horrible and the reps who answer the phone are unprofessional. Some mornings (like the previous person mentioned) you have to wait on the phone for minutes listening to that awful recording. Checker Cab needs new management and a new approach to customer service.

At least some of the other reviewers appeared to have gotten them on the phone. I have that recording that you hear when you call memorized because I have had to listen to it over and over and over again. I put the phone on speaker one day and timed it - 17 minutes on hold and still no one answered. Sounds like they do not need any further business. I am voting with my feet and walking.

After using their services multiple times, they have the bad habit of not showing up or showing up very late, or even worse cancelling your reservation! And this is without mentioning the more than 5 minutes waiting time to get someone on the phone and then going through an awful and long interragatory repeating several times your answers as the other person is either deaf or not listening to you. The only good thing is that drivers seem polite and the ride was comfortable on average, eventough all drivers do agree that Checker Cab really does not care and they all complain about it.

Pros: Taxis are clean, Drivers are polite

Cons: Worse customer service, NOT reliable

I called this horrible company a day before to reserve for a Dr.'s appointment. I am not allowed to drive since I just had surgery. I asked them to be at my house @ 5:00PM, nobody showed up so I called at 5:10PM and they told me they had no cars..really??? So I was on hold for 6 minutes and then they got back to me and said that they would have a taxi in about 6-7 minutes, sorry, not true at all. Called again and they said that my reservation was canceled, who canceled it I don't know because I still need to be at the Dr.'s at 5:45. I asked to speak to the manager and he was no help at all (what did I expect) he had no cars too. Where did all the cars go? Are they all seating in downtown scratching who know what...Anyway it gets to 5:39 and noting. Guess what, I missed my Dr's appointment. Great Job Checker Cab...You guys should be ashamed of your horrible service. and I will tell anyone I can because of your horrible service I was late to a very important appointment. Thank god you are not the only Taxi cab Company in Atlanta!!!

We've been using Checker Cab Service for the last five years. It's just so much eaisier when going out for Drinks/Dinner, and no parking. Yes we've had a couple of problems with a certain dispatcher, but she is no longer with the company. The cab's corporate office is near our home in Brookwood, and we always have a taxi in less than ten minutes. Nice Drivers, and yes occasionally, you will get one that's brain dead. No tip!

Pros: Fast Reliable Service!

Cons: Rude Dispatchers At Times!

I didn't even make it to the cab. The dispatcher was so rude that I called another cab company and cancelled the service with Checker Cab. The dispatcher picked up the phone, and didn't ask how she could help me. She saw that I was calling from a particular building and said that the cab would be there in 15 minutes. I had to stop her from hanging up on me to tell her that I needed to reserve a cab for the next day at another location. As she was "helping" me she decided to have a conversation with her coworker about where she parked her Kia. Unless you like rude customer service, stay away from these people.

Operator told me that the cab would be here in 5-10 mins....one hour later, after missing my flight, he shows up. Not even a courtesy call to say there was a delay. I live in the city and have been picked up with them before (all good) but they pissed me off so much that they lost a customer.

Pros: Clean Cab

Cons: Hold Time, Late Pick-up

When the taxi's arrive they are clean and the drivers are pleasent, but all too often they do not arrive, the dispatch office does not provide any information. If you don't mind waiting 40 minutes plus for a taxi and having to ring the dispatch office up non stop then use checker cabs, however most other cab companies can get a taxi to you in 5-15 minutes (I live in midtown) without the stress or the hassle.

Pros: clean, safe

Cons: Don't show up, Not reliable
