Loved it
by cmmccla
This is my 2nd time at Houston's. The last time I ordered the Bass while my date ordered the steak and I swore I'd order the prime rib next time. It was absolutely DELICIOUS. We both ordered the prime rib and it was so delicious I don't think I've had a better steak. Server (Simone) was very professional and took good care of us. Ambience was perfect - dark, cozy, romantic. The side salad and green beans were ok. My date thought the green beans were too hard. I had half a steak left and boxed it to take home and it was still DELICIOUS. I'm craving it now. I am now a Houston's steak fan. It was perfectly cooked. PERFECT. The Au jus was awesome. sigh...
- Pros: The steak
- Cons: None
Roomy banquettes and hefty portions typify this polished American grill that's popular for business deals and special occasions.

In Short
Burnished brass and stained wood complement roughly mortared brick and the occasional plant. Amid ubiquitous earth tones, corporate types and small parties (celebrating or simply living large) occupy deep booths done up in fine upholstery and lit from above by pin spotlights. Burgers, prime rib and steaks are the specialties of the house, but the menu also includes salmon, salads, pork chops and roasted chicken.
Often Imitated, Never Duplicated
by SneakerKing
First Fila copied Prada. Then everybody rapping had to be named ?Young? this or ?Lil? that. Now even fast-food spots (um hmm, Arby?s) are hopping on the imitation bandwagon and trying to steal Houston?s vaunted sandwich: the French Dip Au Jus!
Stop it, please! Okay sorry. I had to get that out of the way. But the French Dip Au Jus isn?t the only thing worth attempting to duplicate at Houston?s Restaurant.
Their Hawaiian prime-rib steak is sure to satisfy the most cynical food critic, while the quality of food (i.e freshness, hot food, sanitary plates, and silverware) and overall ambiance is off the chart!
Gents, it?s not a formal occasion but at the same time you can?t wear your baseball caps or look like you?re MTV on wheels! While Houston?s isn?t designed for the most opulent patron, it isn?t necessarily for the fast-food budget crowd as well.
But with acute attention from your waiter/waitress coupled with a dimly lit eating area, Houston?s is a perfect marriage of quality food and ambiance.
- Pros: intimate, private setting
Love it

This has to be my most favorite resturaunt in the city. The service is amazing and the food is wonderful. I have had my waiter run my food out in the pouring rain b/c I left it on the table. I highly recommend the ribs and key lime pie, they are top notch.
- Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service
Best Steak I ever had!!
by SweetGA1
I heard so much about Houston's but could never find anyone willing to go. Finally, my birthday rolled around and this was my opportunity, so I suggested Houston's. I said to my self let me see what all the talk is about. WOW!!!! The Hawaiian Steak was juicy, tender and melted in my mouth. I was not a big salad eater but if it came with the meal I would eat one. The salad we ordered was like no other. It was creative, it had favor and most of all it was FRESH. Thank GOD I don't live near by I'd pick Houston's over shoe shopping.
- Pros: Romantic
- Cons: No gym shoes, sweats etc...
The Crabcakes ROCK
by ladieswholunch
Pick a location, any will do...Houston's is the bomb! It is gentiel without being snobby, it is casual without being a noisy din. Always predicatble, always dependable. You can't go wrong with Houston's. We love the spinach dip, the smoked salmon, the crabcakes, the potato soup and the fried chicken salads. A "ladieswholunch" favorite!
- Pros: So Good!
- Cons: If we must - don't take a large group they don't have the seating. Keep it under 6.

Food OK but who cares, the ambience is great!!!!
by neatomosquito
Been numerous times to the one on Peachtree (only one I've ever been to) and have always enjoyed myself. The food is average but the ambience is fantastic. Even in the daylight it feels cozy and yet open and airy at the same time. In the evening this place is about as romantic as it gets. Cozy, warm with a good live jazz trio playing to boot!!! Tonight I could have stayed forever!!! The service is excellent, drinks good, ambience superb. So why only a three star? 'Cause the food is just good. It's good for sure but not outstanding. Can't hurt yourself there but you're not going to walk out raving about what a great meal you had. Make the food a little more exciting, change up the menu a bit more often and you've got me for life. In the meantime, I'll just go with that someone special and have drinks by candlelight, listen to jazz and eat a good meal.
- Pros: The coziest and most inviting restaurant I've ever been to
- Cons: Food is good, nothing to be ashamed of, just not great!
Great Romantic Dinner Spot
by truro1234
I love the Hawian Ribeye at Houstons - it taste like pineapple and melts in your mouth. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is so relaxing with the dim lights and candles. This restaurant is perfect for any special occasion - it will never let you down!!
I'll be back

The food is consistently good, especially the Smoked Salmon and Filet. If you sit at the bar like I do, you'll notice that there are quite a few regulars. The bartenders are friendly and they know many of the guests by name.
