My favorite place in Atlanta to see a show.

I'll admit, the first time I went to a show here I didn't like this place so much. I thought it was dark, crowded, smokey, and man it was hot in there. But I soon learned to love this venue. It's very easy to get to. Parking is usually not a problem. The buidling is old and sometimes dirty, but that's it's charm. The staff are generally friendly and helpful. The thing I love most about the Masquerade is how intimate it is. We often get to meet the bands because sometimes they just hang out and meet people after their sets. I've been to shows in Heaven and Hell and you can get as close to the stage as you want, that is if you get there at least a couple of hours before the doors open. I've been to 30 or so shows here over the last three years. Most shows have been great. My favorite shows to see are the smaller, lesser known bands. We once saw a show in Hell and there were litterally about 7 people at the show. I've also been to sold out shows in Heaven. Those can get a little hectic because the crowd can get rough and it can get very hot in there. Inside the Masquerade is very hot in the summer time and cold in the winter time, so dress accordingly. Be prepared to pay $3.50 a bottle for water and you may want to have some kleenex in your purse because sometimes the bathrooms run out of toilet paper. Other than that I love this venue.

Pros: Small Venue, Usually inexpensive tickets, parking

Cons: sometimes dirty bathrooms, smokey, expensive drinks

This often-mischievous nightspot is an unholy trinity of three clubs under one roof.  See the full editorial review.
