Loca Luna has a large facility including a long bar side, mobile tables and slim chairs indoors and outdoors that can be put away or moved easily to accomodate more space. There is a dance floor area next to a live band stage; giving an overall pleasant of a so called latin tropical experience. As for the drinks I warn you about the cost and taste. I paid 8.50 for a horrible tasteless Long Island Ice Tea cocktail and some new friends bought a pitcher of Saint Gria for 25.00 that tasted like ice water with a tint of grapey winey fruits. My goodness I have trouble paying my gas, fix me a real drink!! If you enjoy the tastes of drinks with satisfication don't ask for one here, because you will be embarrased how this bartender mixes a drink. My advice is don't go if you want to get ripped by someone making a killing off tabs that has no right making an expensive cocktail.

IF ITS A CHEESY, DARK, BUFORD HIGHWAY STRIP CLUB YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WITH REALLY BAD FOOD THAT YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER FOR, THEN LOCA LUNA HAS YOU COVERED. THEY DIDN'T GET ANYTHING RIGHT SINCE THEIR MOVE

This place is now on Amsterdam near the Park. The small plates were great, we were seated promptly at the upper level. This made the craziness downstairs more tolerable, but it was a bit too hot. Downstairs, near the bar, there is a serious dating scene and the music (on the week-ends at least) is at full blast. The service was a bit slow, but generally OK. the mojitos were too sweet I thought.
Pros: food
Cons: the noise level

BEST FOODIE EXPERIENCE! A group of 7 girlfriends went to this restaurant on 2/29/08. We had dinner reservations made through Open Table, yet I did call the actual restaurant the day before to ensure that this was honored. NO problems. PROS: (1) The food was fantastic. I am not a picky eater, but I can tell the difference between good food and great food and Loca Luna dishes were SUPERB! It was a large group so we tried many items yet didn't leave room desert. The calamari, butternut empanadas, spare ribs and spinach were my ultimate favorites. Everything on the table to eat was wonderful, fish taco, traditional empanadas, potatoes, flat iron steak, etc! (2) Peter the bartender; the best. I was compelled to give him an extra tip even though a customary tip was added to the table because of the size of our party. Thoughts of his Tropical mojito make me want to make the trip there now. (3) The vibe of the place is great as well. The band is a wonderful plus. (4) Our server was good and extra runners brought out most of our very large order quickly. CONS: (1) Bartender's drinks could be more consistent. If Peter didn’t make it, it wasn’t worth drinking, but I know who to go to for my drinks. (2) It rained that night so sitting outside was a little challenging due to some rain coming through their covering. I would usually pitch a fit about something like that, but the dining experience was so positive, who cares! BOTTOM LINE: Give Loca Luna a try. I have only been there once, but I will go again and hope to have another great experience.
Pros: Excellent food, ambience and drinks
Cons: ALL bartenders need to be trained by Peter for consistency

I made a reservation for my birthday for a group. When I made the reservation all I was told was to get there a little bit early to secure the table. We got there and ordered drinks and appetizers. We had been there for about 30 minutes and the waitor rudely told us we had 15 more minutes to get up and leave. I asked why and he said that the we could only stay at the table for 45 minutes. At no point while I reserved the table was I told there was a time limit in sitting down and eating. The waitor crossed the line by saying "you can't just sit here and not order anything." Every person in my group had ordered food and drinks and the tab was huge! My friend waited an additional 15 minutes to see the manager and never got to see him. They almost ruined my birthday but we somewhere else. I went there because it supposedly is a latin scene and I am Latina. This is NOT a latin scene. It's more like Loca Gringos! I will never go there again.
Pros: Nice decor
Cons: Poor service

Sorry, but I have been told that as a rule, employees are still encouraged to write reviews. This should make the critical reader wonder if any of the recent reviews can be trusted. Actually, besides my personal dissatisfaction, friends who have long stopped visiting as well and gave it another shot at the new local, have all said pretty much the same thing. Not such a cool late night vibe. The problem is the later crowd. Where does they come from anyway? Younger and a bit more more down and out is a fair description. Especially as it gets to be later on Fridays and Saturdays, it seems. Few older guest -- let's say over 30 -- who have reached a more discerning level of company will enjoy a crowd that is, well, a bit rough. While the food has maintained its quality, skip the later night plans here -- even though the bands are certainly OK. Oh, and be careful. There have been some crimes reported in the parking lot. How about some more security, please? Sorry, it's just too rough for the time being for this guy to hang out where I don't feel completely safe.

I recently took my entire family to Loca Luna. This was the first time we were going there so wasn't sure what to expect. We were seated promptly ( on the patio) by the lady at the front desk. We realized that we preferred to be inside where the band was playing - so we requested that with Casey ( our server). Casey promptly gave us a great table ( which had been reserved for the owners). Casey is the best server we have had anywhere. He made our evening special. Right from asking us if this was our first time there to explaining the menu and the portion sizes etc .....everything was just perfect. The food was delicious ( we loved the Fish Tacos - I still have visions of the Caramel Flan) ..... all items were served very promptly ( within 10 minutes each time ). The music was great and we loved watching people dance. It was an extremely enjoyable evening and our family will be going there soon.
Pros: delicious food, excellent service, dancing
Cons: none for now
