Great group dinner experience
by scargo123 at Citysearch
The staff and service were exceptional. Our group event was wonderful at Max Lager's. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The food and local-brewed beer was excelent. A great place to go with a group or just with a few friends.
- Pros: Great service, great beer, great food
- Cons: None
Awsome Dining Experience!
by ambernic at Citysearch
My family and I had such an enjoyable evening at this resturant. The atmosphere is a mix of a laid back and casual coupled with fine dining; beautiful lighting in the evening. The food is fresh and perfectly seasoned. The wait time was perfect in between courses. The staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy their work. It has been so long since my family and I had a dining experience like this one. If you are going out to eat, you have to go here. The food was so good, I cannot describe it, you have to go for yourself. Next time I'm in Atlanta, I will be dining at Max Lagers. I recommend trying the fried cheesecake.
- Pros: Excellent Food and Service
- Cons: None
Beer Pairings offer unique experience
by Hiawatha at Citysearch
With all of the dining options available to visitors of Atlanta, Downtown is often overlooked. However, if you want to drink some quality microbrews and dine on continental offerings with a Southern flare, Max Lager’s is the place. You can park across the street at a discounted rate (Inquire with staff). The décor is industrial and cheery. I enjoyed a meal at the bar. The bartender was courteous and knowledgeable. It was a chilly December afternoon, so I started with a cup of Gumbo and a Gold Lager. The Gumbo warmed me with its flavors and healthy chunks of chicken & sausage. The lager balanced with it well. The bartender informed me of the days lunch special and did little else to influence my decision. The Beef Brisket Tacos sounded too good to pass up. Ronnie, the bartender, suggested a Brown Ale to go with the tacos. Again, another good call. The tacos were served with a side of corn salsa and green chili sauce. For dessert, I enjoyed a Max Abbey. It was flavorful and delicious with a hint of sweetness at the finish. Insofar as exceeding my expectations, I would have to give this experience “Two Thumbs Up!”
- Pros: Beer Selection
- Cons: none during this visit

Fish taco and more!!!
by lucygfl at Citysearch
I frequent the downtown restaurants as I work and live in the area. Max Lagers always provides a solid answer to my hunger. Yesterday I was in for the first time since the holidays and they had an awesome fish soft taco made with mahi mahi. I couldn't finish it all, it was massive and was really, really good. It was a special and I am writing this review to let them know to put it on the menu permanently!!! thanks guys for doing a great job. See you very soon!

I go to Max Lager's every time I am in town for the mart .
I love the Texan steak and the Max Black Beer.
I happen to have been there on Sunday night and I can say that it was extremely busy.
I have met the manager Bill several times and he has always made time time to spend a moment talking to me.He and his staff do a wonderful job everytime I am In the restaurant.
Rena, does a great job at the bar and I always feel welcome, No matter who is working.
I am always asked when I turn in my reciepts why I go to the same place everynight to eat?
They have great food, good beer and Great people.
Everyone and place has a bad day, it seems folks always take time to write the bad review, yet have little time to give a good one.
I myself have been to the restaurant more than once and rarely do I see them fail.
Thank you and keep up the good work.
- Pros: Great Steaks and beer

Thank you for your comments! We believe we do offer great food and great service, but there are sometimes those unforeseen hiccups. All the best....
I'm STILL hungry

UNBELIEVABLE! How can a restaurant run out of 75% of its menu items??!!! No pizza, no pasta, no fish, no ribs. NO PIZZA! Granted, it was 9pm on a Sunday night (we waited for an hour and a half even though we called ahead; and during that time, no one mentioned that the kitchen had been all but wiped out), but you're in the downtown area of a major convention city... You have to be prepared for big crowds, right? Guess not. Most of the servers did their best under the circumstances, but the manager - when we complained about the situation - was kind of rude: "What do you want me to do about it?" Oh, and one person at our table ordered the Bison Burger & another ordered a regular hamburger... they said they tasted exactly the same. And yes, the beers were flat.

The evening you came was truly busier than expected as was clear by our menu offerings. We prepare everything fresh from scratch, and by late Sunday evening, we were down in inventory. Our apologies for the circumstances and your frustration. However, we do feel blessed that our business is up substantially over last year, in a down the economy. And please know that we have made adjustments going forward! Please try us again.
Nothing available on the menu.

I went to there with 10 work colleagues from both New York and Chicago. We waited 90 minutes, although we had reservations and drank the beer that was agreed by all to be flat. This place was out everything - pizza dough, so no pizza, no pasta primavera, no salmon, no ribs, no guacamole for quesadillas, no sirloin steak, and I'm sure there were others. What a disappointment because we went there for the wood fired pizza touted by their logo and slogan. I would NEVER go back there again, sorry.

I know you had a large group in, and we received another comment from your colleague related to late Sunday evening. Our apologies for your frustration and the circumstances. This was a highly unusual situation, which we have dealt with going forward.
