WHAT CAN YOU SAY......

It is always interesting to take someone to the Varsity for the First Time.... I do all the ordering and show them how to fix the dogs and steaks... A Heavyweight Chilidog, a Glorified ChiliSteak, a Large PC, a large FO, and on, and on... The very best anywhere! If you remember Flossie or Kirby Walker and the "tittle tot from Agnes Scott" jingle the Varsity ahs great memories for you! It is Great to be able to get a Varsity Fix in Cobb County, Gwinnett County and in Alpharetta, however the BEST IS STILL ON NORTH AVENUE! Bury me with a ChiliDig and a Fried Apple Pie...... I'll be happy for Eternity.....
- Pros: GREAT and NOSTALGIC MEALS
- Cons: Those dogs can "bark at night"...
Landmark with Bad Food

The burgers are full of filler and much smaller than the burgers you get at other places. My onion rings stayed warm for a few seconds after I got them. Then I found myself stuck eating cold onion rings. Maybe tradition is not the only important factor, Varsity! Get some decent quality ingredients and serve them up hot!
- Pros: It's a landmark. It has been here since way back when.
- Cons: The food portions are small, greasy and cool in under a min.

I've been eating at the Varsity for over 50 years now and my standard order for that entire time has been a Chilii dog, Chili Cheese Burger with pimento chees, an order of the world's best onion rings and two PCS (chocolate nilk on shaved ice). A couple of people here (urbanprincess and gross come to mind) have been to a varsity that I've never experienced.
- Pros: The food and sharing a dining experience with thousands of other people at once.
- Cons: Sharing a dining experience with thousands of other people at once.

Okay, so I had been tempted to try the food at the Varsity ever since I heard about it through word of mouth after moving to the Atlanta area last year. Boy, was I disappointed!! First of all the establishment looks like an outdated high school cafeteria. The staff appeared to be mostly teenagers who were grouped up behind the registers looking as though they had something better to do. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings, not knowing that the cheeseburger only comes with the patty, cheese and a bun. After realizing this, I took my receipt and burger back to the register thinking that they had left off the condiments and toppings and that's when a girl behind the counter told me that that was how they came. The onion rings were good, but very greasy. I personally would not recommend the burger unless you like bland, kid's meal-sized burgers. Most likely I will not be returning to this so-called Atlanta "landmark."
- Pros: Plenty of Parking
- Cons: Food, Service

I've been in and out of Atlanta for 20 years, and never been to the Varsity until last weekend. None of my ATL friends will "deign" to dine there, so I went on a whim. And I got just what I expected...old fashioned, greasy, beat-a-hangover junk food...nothing fancy, but the "arnold's from Happy Days" kinda stuff. The onion rings were great...and I paid for them for days...I probably missed some of the charm of the place since I only did pick-up (how many places besides S-nic actually have car-hop waiters?) and the burger, well, I hate to say, I prefer Mc'D, and I never eat there...but now I can say that I've eaten at an Atlanta Landmark
- Pros: quick, no-nonsence service, good hang-over cure, cheap, old-fashioned stuff
- Cons: yougetwhatyoupayfor, very limited menu, don't go if you're on a diet

If you are visiting Atlanta for the first time, The Varsity is a must! It's fast food at it's best. Now don't expect anything fancy, no need to get all dressed up. Just go with a hungry belly and possibly an antacid! But it's worth it. My recommendations are the Onion Rings, Chili Slaw Dog topped off with a Varsity Orange. ENJOY!

Wonderful, affordable food. Great and fast customer service. Crowded on the weekends, primarily Sundays.
- Pros: A nice place to soak up some of Atlanta's ambience.
- Cons: Not a good place to dine if you're counting calories.

I went to the Varsity after a afternoon of sightseeing with my out of town guests. I had never been there and thought it would be another great way for them to experience Atlanta. WRONG!!!! I shouldv'e taken my initial reaction after stepping inside as a clue to turn and run. The staff was less than friendly and it had a high school cafeteria feel to it. I sat down with my burger and for a second, I thought "they must've forgotten to put the patty on the bun". But it was there. It was just so microscopic that it was actually smaller than than the bun. It was sloppy and looked very unappealing. Only thing I could compare it to is a McDonalds cheeseburger, which actually would've tasted and looked better. The fries were limp and heavy. The onion rings were good. The prices do not match the quality of the food. That burger should've been $.79.
Do yourself a favor, skip this Atlanta "landmark" and go to Five Guys where $6 gets you great service, perfectly cooked freshcut fries and a juicy 1/2 lb burger.
- Pros: good onion rings, lots of free parking, lots of seating
- Cons: poor quality food, overpriced, overrated, unfriendly service

When I was in high school in Atlanta (go NF bulldogs!) from 1957-1962, my friends and I were at the Varsity every Friday night, and sometimes on Saturdays too! The greatest place in the world for onion rings, hot dogs, french fries , a PC or a Frosted O. But the BEST was meeting the boys (swarms of them) from Tech. Even now, the food tastes exactly the same. Not sure how they do it, but it's gooooooood. Hey, and I remember a time when women were not allowed to go inside..only order from the car! And sure, I remember the carhop Flossie Mae. A great American institution!

The Varsity is an Atlanta tradition from generations to generations. The service is just that a service in a fast food and a quick pace environment. Rather you want a naked dawg walking or salad, you must go to this Atlanta lndmark.
