I bouldered for 4+ hours at Wall Crawler's yesterday. . . and boy are my arms tired. Great routes with a well contoured wall are the trademarks of this gym. The number of moderate to hard routes of high quality is unsurpassed in the area and the atmosphere is very low key. While I was there I so no agro-rock-jocks, and no gaggles of kids. Just solid climbers enjoying some vertical time on plastic. The route-walls were being re-set for a comp, but from what I could see - the routes look just as good as the bouldering.

Pros: Routes - Atmosphere

I planned a last minute birthday party for my daughter who was turning eight and was unable to give an exact kid count to the owner so that he could have enough staff on hand for the party, but he assured me that they would accommodate the uncertain number of kids and that they would have a great time, and they had a blast. Several of the children in the party had never been climbing before and they were a little apprehensive once they began to climb the wall, both Melissa and Tim were very good at coaching the scared children and encouraging them to continue up the wall to the top. By the end of the party all the children were climbing fearlessly and some were even racing each other to the top. We also had two little boys, 2 and 3 that they secured with a harness and they let them attempt to climb, it was absolutely adorable! There was lots of laughter the entire duration of the time we were there and parents were excited to see their children trying something new and felt 100% comfortable with the staff. Considering the unorganized nature of our party, I truly believe that the staff accommodated the stead flow of children with ease and grace. They dedicated an entire wall for the party, took time to talk with the kids and the parents about the rules of the gym and the importance of following the rules. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the sport, patient with children, great with nervous moms, and truly generous with their time. It is a very personable staff and I highly recommend Wall Climbers for anyone looking to have a party, interested in learning to climb, or looking for an indoor facility to frequent. I certainly will be back and I am certain that several of the moms who attended our party will be back too.

Pros: Super-friendly, knowledgeable staff, great location, family friendly

I had been meaning to try rock climbing for a while and finally just decided to do it. It was very easy to set up an appointment for a first lesson. Ben taught me all the basics and then coached me on climbing techniques. He was very patient, professional and clearly enjoys what he does.

What a great day! The ownership was really accommodating to our group of middle school students. Most of our 10-12 year olds had never climbed before. Most are looking forward to climbing again. A special thanks to Ben and Dave as they spent their day patiently encouraging our youngsters and adults to challenge themselves. A couple of our kids were fearless and ready to go; so were Dave and Ben. A couple of our kids required a little extra encouragement and reassurance that they could do it. Ben and Dave were ready to oblige. The climbing facilities were fantastic offerings of bouldering opportunities as well as routes allowing for a progression of challenge congruent with ability level. If you don't like bottled water or gatorade bring your own liquids...you're going to need them after the great workout and yelling encouragement! We look forward to a return visit! Eastminster Middle School

Pros: Very helpful staff

I have tried many climbing gyms in the greater Atlanta area as well as places in Florida and this is by far the best one I've been to so far. The staff is very easy going and accessible. Most of the climbers in this gym are very skilled which helps you improve fast and with a strong base of skills. The atmosphere in the gym is not only fun but the staff is also very passionate for the sport and they encourage you actually want to be a better climber. I have taken personal clases with Tim, inside the gym and also in an actual rock wall in the outdoors. His knowledge of the sport and coaching skills are key when you are trying to make that jump into becoming a better climber

Pros: Climbing area is one of the largest I've seen, sweet bouldering cave

We had a blast! Signed up with Tim for a personal introduction and within 40 minutes we were climbing with confidence. He kept a close eye on us meanwhile watching the entire gym. Wonderful funky atmosphere with varied music selection in background. No pressure in selling return visits. Priced very reasonably especially considering the attention we received. Great way to exercise during the summer heat.

Pros: nearby Little Five Points and newly renovated Moreland Ave & Edgewood area

We had a confirmed birthday party for 9 excited six year olds. On the day of the party, no one was there (party was at 2pm - gym opens at noon) and the doors were locked. I haven't decided what is more disturbing... the fact they blew off a child's birthday party or the fact they only have one staff member working there on a weekend afternoon. This same staff member was going to be responsible for belaying 9 six year olds with no other assistance. This is concerning on several levels. I'm now worried about the safety of the gym... they don't seem concerned with opening the gym consistently, why would they maintain it? We've also had trouble contacting the gym as their posted hours don't appear to be accurate or consistent. The owner was apologetic but the damage was done. I highly suggest Atlanta Rocks (atlantarocks . com). The staff is more personable and they're more attentive to customers.

Cons: Irresponsible staff; inconsistent hours
