The live venue lives up to its name by bringing a host of talented musicians to eclectic Little Five.

The Scene
Located near the end of Euclid's colorful shopping row, the Variety Playhouse is a Little Five Points landmark whose mid-sized hall attracts full-sized talents. The former movie theater provides an intimate experience, yet still offers abundant seats, a smattering of tables and stage-front standing room.
The Draw
Whether you're there for jazz or jam bands, bluegrass or bossa nova, acoustic or amped, this venue aims to please. The Playhouse is perpetually voted "Best Concert Venue" for relaxed surroundings and quality acoustics. The respect the venue pays toward performances rubs off, resulting in equally courteous staff and patrons.
Worst place

In my first concert out of country (Im from Mexico) I havent seen such place as variety playhouse...Even the municipal theater in my home town looks much good than this venue...Dirty everywhere...and ending this, Ive been kicked out from concert, for bringing a camcorder to the show (they told me that theyre calling to the police and stuff)...And all the Euclid avenue is a garbage!...Everythings is abandoned, as the rest of Highlands district...
- Pros: Seating place
- Cons: everything else
The BEST Venue!

I saw Nickel Creek at the Variety Playhouse. It was the best concert I have ever seen. The venue really added a lot. It was so small. You could sit anywhere you wanted. I stood in the front. Wow, I couldn't have asked for a better place for a concert!!
Great Venue!

The Variety Playhouse is by far one of the best places to catch national and local acts in Atlanta. The name is definatley applicable as I have seen acts that range from Junior Brown to The Afghan Whigs to Men at Work to Cracker (the Counting Crows opened this show just before they broke it big). There is not a bad seat in the house and the sound is usually excellent. If you don't want to deal with the crowds down on the floor try and grab a seat on the front row of the balcony.
Says what it does, does what it says

Variety is indeed the spice of life here; the Variety draws the interesting, the sturdy and the trendy (Ryan Adams) alike. The unique seating situation (it used to be a movie theater) is great if you don't feel like standing, but it's a pain squeezing through the narrow aisles, and don't sit in the front row behind all the people standing at the front. The neighborhood is a little dicey --I've been accosted by bums outside here frequently -- and on-street parking can be a problem during big events. But you've almost got to brave it for the solid acts.
- Pros: Great lineup, Seats
- Cons: Parking
