Atlanta's hippest spot for improv.
by Ryan Sims
In Short
With an impressive DIY team of hip and quick-on-the-draw improv comics, Dad’s Garage (think “Who’s Line Is It Anyway” after a few beers and without strict FCC guidelines) is a relentless laugh-factory in chic Inman Park. Tucked away just off N. Highland, the small shoebox theatre housed in a cinder block building is kept up, run by, and staffed by volunteers, eager to bring attention to the arts, especially improv comedy. Routinely performing shows for charity, Dad’s Garage also hospitably offers patrons mega-cheap mix-and-match premium beers in a bucket.
Poker Night at the White House
by Ablack
My friends and I went to Dad's Garage for my b'day after hearing such great things about it. The show was Poker Night at the White House and we figured it would have to be funny since this is a comedy club. It was horrible. If there was an intermission we would have left. We did not understand the humor in it whatsoever. It made little sense and just wasn't funny. Do not waste your $20. Go have a drink instead.
A healthy addiction.

Hmm, Where do I begin? I first attended a show at Dad's in mid-2005. I've been there every week ever since. In addition to the quality shows and pure genius improv, the casual, comfortable atmosphere makes you feel right at home from the moment you step through the door. The people there are amazing -- both on and off-stage. The humor is creative and intelligent, with just the right amount of quirk. It's always a great time. There's nowhere else quite like it. Just be warned that you'll feel a strange gravitation to return as soon as possible.
- Pros: Price, People, High quality entertainment.
- Cons: Just don't leave valuables in your car.
good ice breaker
by strodhb
Sometimes the shows can be hit or miss, but I've still always enjoyed them. When I have a group of friends out for a night on the town, and none of them know each other, I start with Dad's Garage . . all the fun & laughter is a good icebreaker :-) I went last night & the price has gone up a little, that's a bummer, but if you have an Entertainment guide coupon book, you can find a buy one get one free coupon which will save you $15.
- Pros: funny & fun
- Cons: cost
Dad's Garage is a hit!
by ashleylauren
The theatre itself is kind of run down and it serves cheap beer but the actors are hilarious and the audience participation is really funny. I definitely recommend it to anyone that loves improv. It's def a first date place as well!!
- Pros: funny actors, casual
- Cons: kinda shabby
Improv comedy and offbeat plays make for a rising star in Atlanta's theater scene.

The Scene
It's a great late-night hangout for bar-weary types on the hunt for something different. Dad's Garage inhabits a suitably cavernous space in a converted warehouse in Inman Park, where fringe-culture vultures and couples looking for an offbeat first date congregate to enjoy smart improvisational comedy and substantial, cutting-edge plays.
The Experience
Dad's Garage focuses on audience-participation fare: Think "Whose Line is it Anyway?" as imagined by a group of hip Florida State grads. Improv junkies get their fixes three nights a week--amateurs try their hands on Thursday, while an ensemble cast takes over on Fridays and Saturdays. A full season of plays complements the madness: Past productions include the eventual Broadway hit "Cannibal! The Musical!" and Stephen Sondheim's musical "Assassins." You might also occasionally stumble across a traveling production by like-minded groups such as Chicago's Neo-Futurists.

This was hysterical. I laughed my ass off. I went with 20 people and we all want to come every year for Chick and Boozy... I can't wait to go back and see DAd's regular improv...
Dont miss Chick and Boozy

- Cons: none

This place is great for a date or just an enjoyable relaxing evening. The shows are always at least moderately humorous and the audience interaction keep you on your toes. The staff and performers are very gracious.
