Sugar Magnolia

by sabina69 at Citysearch

Hello, our names are Eliana and Sabina from Italy and we stayed in SM for 2 days last week.

The house is so fascinating just as the pictures in the web site; Innman Park (where the house is set) is very beautiful and all its neighbourhood has a magical atmosphere.

SM is very closed to M. L. King sites (10' by feet), not so far from Downtown (20' by feet).

Marta (the local tube) is very closed (5' by feet) and Little Five Points (the nearest quarter of entertainment) is at a mile walking through Inman Park.

All the family, Debby and Jim, their daughter Emily, the grandma' and Tuffin (their doggy) are so nice and friendly..... breakfast is so delicious !!!

To say that we spoke with so entusiasm about SM that our friend Laura is thinking to go next year....

Wonderful B&B in a very special neighborhood

by suelphd at Citysearch

We loved this charming B&B in an area of old, gracious homes. It felt like being in The Old South, and Sugar Magnolia was an excellent place to stay. There were so many charming touches in both the home and our room. We stayed in the Royal Suite but would like to stay in the Cottage next time. Debi gave us a tour and showed us all the rooms. We would have been happy in any of them! The Royal Suite had 2 balconies, and it was lovely sitting in the sun and reading. Breakfasts on both mornings were homemade and special. Our breakfast companions were enjoyable, and we lingered over coffee. Debi and Jim, the hosts, were very gracious and obviously proud of their beautiful home. We hope to return soon and will definitely stay here again.

  • Pros: Lovely area; charming home; excellent service; wonderful breakfasts

Beautiful house with great location

by misskriss70 at Citysearch

This was an exceptional value and much more relaxing than staying at a hotel in the city. This house had wonderful charm and great caretakers. The Aviary room cost less than the Mariott hotel where other members of my family were staying for a wedding. This room had painted ceilings, antique furnishings, a breathtaking view, and access to a private bathroom. The bed and sheets were exquisite. The breakfast was light and just enough to get me started in this city known for all its great food, I wanted to save room for the world famous resturants in the area. This B&B is located near Little Five Points which is a cool place to walk around and get a sense of what makes Atlanta unique. I felt very at ease with walking around and exploring. Overall a great pick and I will return!

  • Pros: Great location, good value, and excellent service
  • Cons: Which room to pick!

Wonderfully romantic!

by kimnjudy at Citysearch

We loved our stay at Sugar Magnolia. She's a beautiful mansion built in the 1890's, so the occasional creak is to be expected and only adds to her charm. The Royal Suite is romantic in every way, with its canopied sleeping room, heavenly king-size bed, huge bathroom and oversized spa tub. In addition, we had both a deck and a balcony at our disposal. Breakfast, served in the lovely dining room, was delicious. We had time for several visits with Jim and Debi and learned a lot about Atlanta in the process. Jim played incredible jazz, blues, ragtime and gospel for us on the piano, and we enjoyed the privilege of looking through one of Debi's photo albums from her years on Atlanta's City Council. In both instances -- the music and the public service -- we were in awe. Having stayed in quite a number of B&B's, we always go in knowing that we're in essence being invited into someone's home and each experience is different. We much prefer it over the impersonal nature of a hotel stay. In light of our experience at Sugar Magnolia, we hope to make it our home-away-from-home on future visits to Atlanta.

Sweet B&B

by josie214 at Citysearch

Nice old Queen Ann home. Pretty room, green and white, overlooking beautiful gardens. Home has had lots of TLC and it shows. Bed seemed new and was

incredibly comfortable! Owners made you feel welcome and were discreet. Only

disappointment was lack of a special breakfast. Maybe we've been spoiled by other

B&Bs in the past. Fruit bowl was good but I expected more. Parking was right

outside.

  • Pros: beautiful old home, friendly hosts, close to downtown
  • Cons: disappointing breakfa, no lock on rm door

Romantic Inman Park hideaway with quaint amenities in a quiet neighborhood.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
This late-19th-century Queen Anne Victorian home retains all the quaintness and charm expected of good bed-and-breakfasts. Note the wraparound porch, three-story turret, six fireplaces, richly appointed sitting rooms and grand staircase.

The Details
The rooms all are large and immaculately maintained, with private bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout. Fireplaces and intimate nooks and crannies are ideal for a romantic escape. Sugar Magnolia aims to please with subtle, homey touches: breakfast delivered to your room, a waterfall garden and afternoon tea. You might even catch one of the owners tickling the ivories on his childhood piano.
