Great Pita Wraps and fresh, healthy food
by momanism at Citysearch
Great place for lunch or a light meal. The service is always warm and personable with a genuinely friendly greeting. Cool artwork from local artist adorn the wall. The ambience is the coolest. It's like a conscious hip hop, soul deli/cafe. You never know what those guys will be watching. One day they had an old Kung-Fu flick from the 80's playing. I sat there and watched half the movie. You can always find out what is going on around the city from the table full of flyers. Good healthy food that's not overpriced. I love the grilled chicken or turkey pita on wheat. The menu has a Mediterranean flair - gyros, falafel, pitas, salads and pastas. Highly recommended!!!
If only the service was better

I had been a fan of Marco's for years. I loved the food and loved how friendly Marco always was. One time I tried to call an order in and was treated extremely rudely on the phone. After writing Marco a letter concerning the incident and hearing no response I will never eat there again. Too bad, I'll miss their roast beef pita.
- Pros: food, value
- Cons: HORRIBLE service

nice casual, hip atmosphere with a strange combination of menu choices that give a hint of middle-eastern flavor. my food was served cold (even the parts that should have been hot), and it tasted as if it had been prepared a while ago. maybe i went on the wrong day (fri night), but loud tv with people screaming on it drowned out my conversation. what's worse is that they tried to charge me above menu price saying that new menus are arriving tomorrow. bad bad bad
Healthy Midtown Choice

Awesome food. I eat here about twice a week. Always tasty, fresh, and healthy. Since everything is made fresh it takes a few minutes, but its definately worth it. I would suggest calling ahead to order if your getting carry out.
- Pros: Fresh, Healthy, friendly service
- Cons: can be slow
Cheap Middle Eastern fare with an atmosphere that attracts office drones and clubbers alike.

The Scene
A popular stop on the clubber's itinerary, Marco's features a central table surrounded by skateboarding and DJ flyers. But its laid-back atmosphere also attracts a fair number of folks from City Hall East and assorted offices. The disparate crowds sometimes share tables in the limited seating area. Patron saint Bob Marley presides over all.
The Food
Marco's has a better bang-to-buck ratio than almost anywhere else in the city. Falafel sandwiches come with crisp toppings, tart yogurt sauce and deep nutty flavor. The lamb gyro fares equally well, though the sandwich could do with more meat. Super-size pitas are built for those who haven't eaten in three days; the regular-sized ones are for those who haven't eaten in two. If you still feel hungry, try the fresh, vinegar-sharp grape leaves or, if your taste leans the other way, the sugar-rush baklava squares.

Great lamb gyro and falafel. Service can be a little slow but well worth the wait. And if you're tired of all the fast food/chain restaurants then you'll like the cool, local atmosphere.
- Pros: fresh ingredients, tasty

I love their sandwiches. They have the freshest ingredients and no matter what I order, it's always good.
Nice & Fresh

This place is a great alternative to fast food burger joints and chicken shacks. Love the focus on fresh ingredients. My favorite by far is the seafood salad.
- Pros: Fresh ingredients, Healthy, Friendly service
Quick hit on Ponce

If you're in the neighborhood and need a quick bite to eat, try Marco's. The sandwiches are made fresh for every order, and there's never much of a wait. All the wraps come in two sizes; unless you're especially hungry, get the smaller of the two. The falafel is a personal favorite. Whenever I'm there, it seems like half the patrons know each other, which speaks to friendliness you don't find at fast food joints. Weeknights, Marco's hosts spoken word and live music. Check with the restaurant for times and details.
