||||||GREAT FOODS||| GREAT SERVICE||||
by chadreed745
I've always liked the Planet - but recently i really love the Planet. The spicy vindaloo and creamy saag paneer are awesome. They make a great naan which is perfect to mop up all the sauce with. The service can be a little slow - but that?s because they're usually understaffed and pretty busy - but they're always friendly. For some reason just in the past year their food seems to have gotten much much better. Maybe it's just me... Anyway I like how they don't automatically assume I can't handle spicy food and dumb it down (like most other Atlanta Indian places do) - All the food seems to come out at the perfect heat for me - consistently. It isn't a fancy, high dining restaurant - the decor is a little rough... But the food is great and like many have said previously ? the Bollywood is always bumpin!
Pros: Great Vindaloo - Great Naan - Great fod
Avoid this place

The food is not at all indian. It is bland and tasteless. Not meant for people from indian sub continent or any one who has tasted even decent indian food.
We went there in a group of 10 and every one left at least half of their meal in the plates.
Please do not try the Chicken Biryani there. it is sweet and the rice has a heavy coat of Rose Water and colors. Excessive use of colors in almost every item ( including Mango Lassi) is another soar point. The plain lassi too had a generous portion of sugar.
We ordered mango pickle and got a bowl of mixed pickles.
The veg salad means onions and slices of tomotoes.
Tandori chicken wings tasted as if it was served from a ready to eat pack.
There is nothing good for vegetarians at all. Chana Masala was useless.
I must say that their website is a trap. After having food, i went there to leave my review comments but was shocked to see that it does not allow any one to put their review. But they do display all candy floss review on their web site.
This is not a place to go if you want to have indian food.
- Pros: The serving staff
- Cons: tasteless food. Smells heavily when you enter

Great food, great service! Would definitely go back here.
It was raining pretty hard that day and the nearest parking we found was a lot down the street a bit so we got soaked. That was the only thing that was bad about this dining experience. We walked in to the restaurant, were seated immediately with a smile by a very nice server. It was about 50% filled. We asked for a high chair and it was brought out immediately. Shortly after, he brought out some papadam with an orange hued mint chutney which was very tasty. Our orders were taken as soon as we put our menus back down on the table. I ordered the Paneer Makhni with rice and naan and got to try the Channa Masala and Gobi Bhaji . The food came out hot and fresh and in a timely manner. The naan was very good, fresh and soft. The Channa and Gobi were excellent! I normally don't care for Gobi but the mix of spices made the Gobi delicious. I would order it again. The Paneer Makhni was also good, however was a bit sweeter than I prefer (certain regions in India do like to add a little sugar). Again, the service was fantastic. The server kept our drinks full and was very pleasant. You could tell that he really cared whether we were satisfied or not and we definitely were. I recommend!
Best Indian in Atlanta. You're having a laugh surely?

You people clearly haven't tasted good Indian Food if you rate this place so highly. It's average at best. I'm from the UK, where we know a thing about a good curry, and the stuff they serve up here is far from good. Pretty bland, and I'll question the freshness too. I ordered 3 different curries for my friend and I, and they only brought 2. So as we set about the first 2 dishes, the waiter hurriedly made his way back to the kitchen to have the cook start the 3rd. Oh, and the rice meter must have been running, because the small portion we had between two of us was barely enough for one meal.
The waiter was sweet, in an almost comical way. By that, I mean he had only recently arrived from Bangladesh, and the poor thing had a terrible time understanding us. It was actually quite comical.
Oh, and finally, they really need to work in the decor in the place. They layout is atrocious, and the lighting is so bright, you could literally photosynthesize in there. Kiss goodbye to any hopes of intimacy or ambience.
The garlic nan was pretty good though (but again, nothing special).
- Pros: Hard to think of one.
- Cons: Food, Service, Atmosphere

Worst "Indian" food in Atlanta?
by adammac
I've been here three times - takeout twice, both with surly service (I got yelled at for not checking that the food handed to me was mine) and bland food. After forgetting to specify spicyness level (I prefer "medium") the first time, I asked them to make it "not mild or medium, but spicy" on my return. There was still no discernable heat whatsoever - about as spicy as a plain cheese pizza.
For some reason I went back a third time with low expectations, only to have them dashed; the saag, masala and korma all tasted exactly the same - heavy with cream and very low on taste and it was a complete waste of money. Indian food is supposed to be a treat, not a chore and these guys have lost not only the fire but any and all direction. I don't see any point in them pretending that this is authentic Indian food.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Service, price, taste
Either it be date, business, or just an all out urge for Indian, Planet Bombay does not dissapoint.
by trentchau
There's something to be said when you've taken plenty of people to a restaurant, and it's not far from their minds when you are discussing places to eat when they visit you later. Planet Bombay does just that. Though Indian food for the inexperienced can be trying at first, the variety of the menu along with the explanation can make anyone comfortable with their selection. Options abound, and all that we've tried have been excellent. I highly recommended the Chicken Tiki Masala, Chicken Dapioza, Tandoori Chicken, or anything with Lamb (gotta love those succulent four legged critters). Have a side of mango lassi, or their excellent spicy tea and bring a friend and a great coversation topic as the service can be a little slow.
- Pros: Awesome Nan and Dishes, They remember your face, hilarious Bollywood on tv
- Cons: Bollywood is hilarious in small doses, evil front door is heavier than it looks
