The Experience
Exhibits and memorabilia from Carter's early years, through his presidency and beyond, pack the center. The museum is an American history lesson showcasing monumental events of Carter's administration such as "Protecting the Future," "Hostage Crisis in Iran," and "Peace in the Middle East." Read original documents, confidential directives and peace treaties. View multimedia presentations that highlight negotiations with world leaders throughout the self-guided tour. The "Wall of Twentieth Century Presidents" pays homage to American leaders with excerpts from their most significant accomplishments, newspaper headlines, photographs and other unique artifacts.
The Draw
Tour highlights include a replica of the Oval Office in the White House, complete with desk, couches and presidential seal. Listen as Carter, the 39th president, describes major decisions made in that office. Glass cases display exquisite gifts like a hand-woven wool tapestry of George Washington and a mineral set given by American citizens and foreign dignitaries.
