Rude and not so pleasant
by tonyclifton22 at Citysearch
You can get a room at say....The Georgian Terrace Hotel at the same or better price! And the rooms there are MUCH better and BIGGER and CLEANER!
Also the staff at the more affluent hotels are much more friendlier! Most of the front desk people here are living in some sort of delusions of grandeur, thinking that their hotel is somehow exclusive! No one told us what time check out was, so we assumed it was 12pm, NOT! We received a rather snide and sardonic call about 11:10 am saying, "check out is at 11 am!" (with a recognizable 'duhhhh' on the end of the sentence! lol) SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR A MORE RESPECTABLE PLACE! The rooms are not cheap anymore, they start at around $100.00 per night (with tax)!
- Pros: location maybe, only if you want to stay on that side-O-town
- Cons: Not cheap anymore @ a hundred a night w/tax!
Rude front desk service

The front desk clerk was very rude to me when I told him I think I left my glasses at the lounge located on the basement floor of the Highland Inn.
Great if you like unique places
by alishadawn33 at Citysearch
My husband and I have decided that we like chain hotels, so read this review with that in mind. The Highland Inn was quaint and very clean. It has small rooms that are very old but if you are looking for unique, you will love it. The lobby is small and VERY hot. They have wireless internet but you have to sit in the hot lobby to use it. We probably wouldn't stay there again, but I know there are a lot of people out there who would love it.
- Pros: price, location
- Cons: small room, no air in lobby
What A Difference 2 Years Must Make!
by orphansinthesnow at Citysearch
I read the old reviews but they were 2 years old and not kind. A friend of mine suggested that I stayed there b/c its in a good spot. They assured me that it is completely different now and they are new people over that are fixing the place up.
We had a blast! What a fantastic neighborhood. We walked to a truckload of shops and bar hopped all weekend long. As a budget Inn, this is the best one I have ever been at.
The Inn is crawling with charm and personality. Our room was small but we expected that because we noticed the pictures on their website. The best part was this cool picture in the room with an advertisement of a Bettie Davis movie but it was all in French-how hot is that?
I love this place! The staff was friendly and the area rocked!
- Pros: art work, cool house cat, location
- Cons: small rooms
A high-priced location at bargain rates.

The Scene
Originally known as the Wynne Hotel & Tea Room, this inn was built in 1927 by the same man responsible for the upscale The King & Prince Hotel in St. Simon's. Following a complete remodel in 1996, it was a popular venue during the Olympics. Its clientele is heavy with repeat visitors.
The Details
Uniquely decorated rooms include personalized touches such as delicately scented toiletries made in the north Georgia mountains. The eclectic Virginia-Highland area surrounds this lodging with lots of restaurants, cafes, antique stores and art galleries. A leisurely walk through the neighborhood offers pretty views of Craftsman-style architecture and gardens. This location appeals to artsy types and business travelers avoiding a generic downtown hotel experience.
Great Value
by ebergman_citysearch at Citysearch
The Highland Inn isn't the most luxurious hotel in town, but it's cheap, clean and one of the few hotels in this city located in a walkable neighborhood. I stayed here for a few days before moving to Atlanta and loved being able to walk to all the nearby restaurants and bars. If you're in town for business and need a fast Ethernet connection, find another hotel. But if you're budget conscious and sick of chain hotels, check this place out.
- Pros: great neighborhood, free breakfast
