Horrible Owner...
by JadeIIII
The owner/proprietor of this place is the rudest person... Don't waste your time.
The people who work there are friendly and nice, but the guy who owns/runs the place is AWFUL.
a real coffeehouse
by sevnraiz
i go here all the time to hang out with friends and sometimes to be alone and read a book or something. the coffee is tops and I really dig the atmosphere. Nice comfortable neighborhood coffeehouse without the pretentious BS. and the beans are roasted in the basement...which is pretty freakin' cool.
Dissapointing

I am new to Atlanta, and am trying to find a coffee shop. I went to San Francisco Coffee for the fourth time today. This was sort of like a date. Things are progressing. I don't know what tipped me off. Someone in line ahead of me asked for a double shot of espresso in their latte. I thought, "That's strange, you shouldn't have to ask for a double shot of espresso, unless maybe they're buying an 8 oz?" I ordered two 20 oz. Americanos, having a friend with me. I haven't been buying 20 oz coffee, but I've been tired the last few days. Then, before I handed the guy in the orange shirt my money, I asked "How many shots in a 20 oz?" When he said "One, all of our drinks are made with one shot." I almost flipped. No wonder I've been tired. I work behind a counter myself. I understand tipping, I understand that nothing is really the guy in the orange shirts fault. But I can't believe that buying a large Americano, I'm paying not for more coffee, but for more water to water down the one measly shot of espresso they're giving me. There is a general rule of thumb: 8 oz: one shot. 12 oz, two shots. 16 oz, two to three shots. 20 oz, 3 shots. The price on the board seemed to follow this rule, increasing with oz size. I asked the barrister if I was buying water, and he said "Well, and the cup." He then hastened to add that they self-roasted the coffee, but a shot of that won't do me much good in a 20 oz cup of water. I spent over $7.00 on two Americanos, after paying .90 cents for the needed shots of coffee. I would also like to point out that if they are charging for the increase in cup size, they are wasting their profit, because they double cupped our drinks. I won't return to San Francisco coffee, and if I do, I'll be buying the smallest cup they have, requesting shots of coffee.
- Pros: doesn't follow basic coffee expectations
- Cons: could be my coffee home
Excellent

My preferred coffee house of choice. Hands down the best cup of drip brew in town. The staff is friendly, and refreshingly more layed back than the chain houses. I don't get promotional items rammed down my throat, just coffee. Their bakery items are great. I can't resist the scones. I have yet to buy their beans, so I can't comment on those. Overall great!
- Pros: Great Coffee, Bar Drinks
- Cons: Parking
Bad Service
by cannoli
I loved this place. However the last time I went, the guy working was impolite and would not even speak to me. I ordered my coffee and muffin, he hands it to me and I said thank you, he did not say a word. I am sorry I was not dressed COOL enough for him. He should have been friendlier, for I have always treated the staff, at SF Coffee, with respect.
Great coffee and smiling service
by oreadbum
no matter what time you enter the door someone is smiling, great tunes are blasting, and good brew is flowing...
- Pros: sexy staff, good coffee, tasty muffins
- Cons: too many strolers
Neighborhood coffee klatch favorite shines with superior home brews and plenty of comfy nooks.

In Short
This intown favorite occupies a large, comfortable space in the brick building that also houses the Highlands post office. Inside is pleasantly dark, with plenty of warm exposed brick. In fair weather, a row of French windows opens onto the sidewalk. Worn tables and comfortable chairs make it easy for you to park yourself in a corner with a paper or book. Service is easygoing and friendly. This likeable independent coffee house features consistently excellent brews and reliable baked goods. It roasts its own beans, and that distinction becomes apparent when you taste the house blend, a perfectly made latte. As an added bonus, the late closing times make it an excellent option for a nightcap or dessert.

Rockin' Roasted Brew for YOU!
by bigbrianmc
I've been taking care of my coffee jones here for over a year. SFCRCO sets the new standard in coffee flavor. Makes all the Starbucks look pale in comparison. My wife and I purchase a pound a week for home and stop by for a cup every chance we get. If you find yourself in line with the clueless at the other coffee houses and realize that your coffee needs a wake up call (sorry Caribou, the truth hurts!) make a mad dash over to San Francisco Roasting Co. You won't have to "settle" for boring coffee any more.
- Pros: Best in Atlanta, Convenient, Great atmosphere
- Cons: none
Simon Bolivar was there

It was a great coffee place ... we enjoy stopping there after eating at Doc Chey's just down the street.
