I love trying new foods and this place is one of the best adventures I have taken my taste buds on!!! Surins is a trendy spot with good food and great drinks. I recommend going early for dinner to avoid large crowds and long waits. The spring rolls are awesome!! Love it!

Pros: great food, friendly staff, great drinks, ambiance

Cons: can get pretty crowed on weekends

I am not a big fan of Thai food in general, but this place was amazing. I found something on the menu that I wanted to modify slightly and the kitchen had no problems making the change and my food was excellent.

Pros: great food, easy substitutions, totally affordable

Cons: parking can be a nightmare

It was my first experience with Thai food, but it will never be my last! Now, since then, I've been to three other restaurants that like to call what they serve, "Thai" cuisine; however, none of them have come close to Surin of Thailand! I've tried several dishes at this restaurant, and ALL of them have been superb! I've not once been disappointed. Now, I've read that some people were a little disappointed about the wait, but heck, anything that is GREAT is worth waiting for --and this, my friends, is an experience beyond sheer satisfaction! Now personally... I've never waited more than six minutes to be seated. However, that's why I don't eat out on THE BUSIEST NIGHTS OF THE WEEK!!!! ...duh. Now, I have seen long lines on these extremely busy nights, but obvoiusly, the people waiting value excellent food. I don't necessarily like being seated directly adjacent to perfect strangers at those really long tables, but fortunately, the hosts have always accommodated my requests for a private table for two. Well, it's Monday, May 14, 2007, and I'm on my way to enjoy the best Thai food in the "A"!

Pros: great food, great service, more great food, nide lighting/ambiance

Cons: the possibility of sitting next to complete strangers

The customer service was excellent! We had a party of over 10 people and everything was handled in a precise friendly fashion. Most of the other patrons in the restaurants were couples... so it's definitely a great date spot. The drinks were great.... you've got to try the green tea martini. Doesn't sound too great and when you get it, it doesn't look the prettiest, but it's definitely wonderful. Everyone's food was amazing! This place is definitely added to the list of great food places in Atlanta.

Pros: food, drinks, service, atmosphere

Cons: parking....it's a little troublesome at times, but not that bad

Every birthday and anniversary means it's time for Surin!!! I love this restaurant, even though it has a few flaws, because the food is delicious. No, it probably isn't the most "authentic" Thai food out there, so if you're looking for that you may be disappointed. Parking is, well, it's in the Highlands, so it's not great. It can also be loud and difficult to hear. But the food is SO good that none of that matters to me. All the items on the menu can be made with tofu, which we love because my husband and I are both vegetarians. I loved this restaurant in Birmingham, and I love it here. You have to go!

Pros: The food is awesome!!!

Cons: May not be "authentic," parking is tough, can be noisy

I won't call it the best Thai food I've ever had, but it's good for the price. The entrees are reasonable oriced and the location is great. They offer the pretty standard thai dishes and the curry was good and spicy.

I've been in so many "Thai Restaurant", and "Surin" have the "Thai Dishes" that the others don't offer. "Grilled Chicken w/Shirmp Fried Rice" on the special menu is "Highly Recommended" & and also "Tom Yum Soup" & "Papaya Salad w/sticky rice" !! The food at surin are "Not Expensive". This place is crowded; but service is just fine !! (Com' on it's crowded, man!!) You might have the good conversation with the table next to you !! Such a fun place to go. "Surin is located in really good location but there are very litmied parking (i mean it !! VERY LIMITED!!). Taking a cab might be the best way to go there, always having a cab in front of the restaurant so you don't have to call a cab when you go home.

As the CitySearch description says-Maintream! This place has a great Virginia-Highland location. But this is not authentic Thai cuisine. If you don't know the difference between Chinese and Thai, this place is for you. Or if you've had a few too many at Dark Horse Tavern, it might pass. You can buy better frozen Thai at the grocery store. If you are early twenty something, and don't know anything about food, this might be a place to start. Do yourself a favor, and drive a couple of miles away to Anlsey Square--The King & I is the real deal. Service is horrible at Surin!

Pros: Great Virginia-Highland Location!

Cons: Not Authentic Thai Food, Poor Service!

Always eat here when in the VA Highlands. ITs affordable, wonderful staff, never had to wait long and love the food. Now it isnt the best Thai I have ever had, but its a close second and that's good enough for a picky eater like myself. try the shrimp potstickers and the chicken panang and the coconut milk soup. dress is nice casual (jeans) whenever you go. I love that its not super trendy or up tight, i always feel laid back. THe weekends can get more crowded, just call and make reservations if you are worried about getting in! I have never had a bad experience here and I have been enough times to know. THe location is the best! You can walk to local shops or go have gelato and Paulo's down the street. Enjoy Surin, its worth trying it out if you havent!

Pros: location!, food, staff

Cons: not super romantic, small parking area

Editor's Review

Inevitably busy Virginia-Highland landmark serves consistent mainstream Thai food.  See the full editorial review.
