Fantastic!

by DZM2

This is one of my favorite places. Big bowls of noodle and rice dishes! Absolutely yummy. Prices are low. The edamame appetizer is pretty good. They also do a lot of takeout business. Con: At this location, they have long tables that you sometimes share with strangers (if you sit inside). I'm not really a people person so I usually sit on the patio.

  • Pros: Prices, food, takeout service
  • Cons: Seating

less than stellar

by me1myself1i

I went to lunch yesterday (10-6-08) because of the reviews here. This is mediocre food(at best)...not a place for 5 stars...I am not talking about fine dining 5 stars....I am talking about what they do, their specialty is just alright. I had the special Kung Pao...no real flavor except HOT! Kung Pao is a really flavorful dish so I was surprised. I added soy sauce to make it taste like something. My friend had Red Thai curry....I tasted it. It was alright, nothing to write home about. They were very very skimpy with their portions...tons of noodles and rice but not lots of other stuff. We are talking about vegetables here. Not a high food cost and merely a smattering of them. and then to add $1 for chicken and I had maybe 1-1.5 oz is ridiculous. They are making a lot of money on these $10 lunches that fill people up with cheap starch. I think the reason everything has a hot pepper next to it on the menu is so that they can burn out your taste buds so you don't realize you are getting nothing for your lunch dollar. I won't be back.

  • Pros: ummm...it exists???
  • Cons: Just about everything else

Yummy! The BEST!

by spiffsteph

Great food. Their noodle bowls are *huge* and very tasty. I usually end up either splitting a bowl or making multiple meals out of the left-overs! Their lettuce wrap appetizers are absolutely amazing. I?d get those for my whole meal if the rest of their food wasn?t better! They?ve also got some sort of teriyaki seared green beans that we get quite often which are great as well! I?ve been getting the Chey?s Imperial salad which is very yummy, however, I?ve tried their other salads and wasn?t as impressed. I?ve never had a problem with service there, and I really like their patio. Indoor seating may not be ideal for those who are iffy about sitting near strangers ? they?ve got long picnic style tables, so while you won?t be knocking elbows with your new neighbor, you may be sitting closer to them than you would at a restaurant with completely separate tables. I?ve tried a bit of their sake and haven?t ever been too impressed ? go else where for the sake, but stick here for some great food!

  • Pros: Good food, large portions, good service

Award-winning, Best Noodles, Affordable

by beverlyg

Doc Chey's isn't your typical boring mom-n-pop Chinese restaurant. No, no...Doc Chey's is MUCH better than that (and healthier too!). This is the place where I always bring out-of-town friends. Doc Chey's is pan-Asian, so they serve noodles, stirfries and dim sum inspired by mutliple Asian countries. The oversized noodle bowls are what they do best, but I've grown to adore the dim sum menu too (try the Shanghai dumplings!). Dim Sum is around $4 a plate, and entrees are $6-$8, which is a great deal for the portions and quality. They're starting to use more and more organic items too, which is amazing at these prices. This is the orgianal (and best) location, which opened 10 years ago. They're always winning "Best of Atlanta" awards year after year (best pan-asian, best chinese, best cheap eats, etc.), and they have quite the portfolio on their website to prove it. Try one of the green teas from the Tea Bar.

  • Pros: affordable, healthy, socially responsible, fun, award-winning

Not Good

by zhennifer

Food was typically American-pleasing fare. Very unauthentic Asian food. I would rather get served by an insect ridden Chinese restaurant hole in the wall. At least there they wouldn't pretend to be making something authentic.

I used to love this restaurant

by potterk

Used to be, this is one of my favorite restaurants. They keep changing their recipes, but not always for the better. They only have deep fried tofu, not good. They do not grill chicken for their dishes anymore, instead the chicken has coating= more fat. Too bad. I hope they change back. Why change when things are good the way it is??? All together, still goood place to eat, but great anymore. :- (

Adequate

by plantyhamchuk

Food was satisfactory, but don't waste your money on the teas. I ordered a veggie noodle dish which was low on veggies but very generous with the noodles. The entrees overall appeared to be served in large portions.

  • Pros: speedy service, inoffensive decor, veg friendly
  • Cons: variable quality, overpriced teas

We're new in the area and had heard good things about this restaurant. Big mistake, one of our worst Asian meals ever!

Great little place

by hausfrau8

The food is good, fresh and simple. The portions are generous to your stomach and wallet. The patio is great in the spring and fall. It can be a little loud at times but the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. The wait staff and hostess are apathetic at times but sometimes you luck out on their good day.

  • Pros: Good fresh food, Park or walk, Good value
  • Cons: Fair to poor service

Great Noodles

by jesposito

Ok, so Doc Shey's may not be the most authetic Thai dining experience in town, but where you can eat good food for under $10 a person?! This place is adroable. They have a great patio area to sit on too.
