Craft Beer

I hang out in the highlands a lot and like to drink good beer. It is hard to find a place with a real craft deer selection ( blue moon and stella don't count). Finally Neighbor's has stepped up and added 10 new taps. With Rogue Chocolate Stout, Maredsaus, Ommegang Witte, Festive, Abita Jockamo and others it a breath of fresh air.

Don't go late

It was 10:50 pm and I wanted to get a drink and some chips in salsa while I waited for a friend to get off work in the area. Since I was heading down Highland Ave from the ponce side I decided stopping by Neighbors would be easy. I bellied up to the bar and ordered a drink and asked for a menu. I saw you had chips, salsa and cheese dip and decided that was close enough. A few minutes later my food arrived and Meg told me that kitchen had actually just closed and she was 'lucky' to get the order. A few minutes later after eating the very meager portion of salsa to go with the less than fresh chips I asked if I could get some more salsa. Meg went back to the kitchen, came back and said no, sorry. After I finished my drink i told Meg I would have gone somewhere else if I had know your kitchen was closed / about to close. She got angry and very defensive about it. Her attitude was rude and unapologetic. She told me 'You can't tell us when to close our kitchen.' It was a very negative experience and next time I want food late, I'll go somewhere that wants my business.

Trivia ruined by a terrible host!!!

I (used to) love trivia night but I've stopped going. Mostly because the dude that hosts the trivia lacks a sense of humor and the ability to add correctly. He always messes with our points and even goes so far as to censor our names. I mean, seriously buddy, who made you in charge of our freedom of speech. Get over yourself, it's a bar and we're just having fun! I HATE THAT GUY!!! It a shame because we used to go every week and we've moved to the Thinking Man's trivia night until this guy gets fired. Ugh!!

An awesome bar ruined by trivia-nazi

This place used to be so much fun. The wide open deck was overflowing with cool, edgy people, especially on Tuesday night when they do team trivia. It seemed like there was a competition to have the most witty team name that was relevant to current events, risque, or just borderline insane. The atmosphere was fun and wild.

That was until Neighbors decided to go for a more family friendly image and imported a trivia host who exercises more censorship than the FCC. Team names are censored, he's unfailingly nasty, and seems to hold grudges for no particular reason. Trivia as a result has dwindled to a regular group of friends of the host who miraculously seem to win every week.

In spite of that, the wait staff is attentive, friendly, and attractive. The menu is mediocre (a step up from pub grub) and the drinks are reasonably priced for the area.

I'm shocked that an iconic place like this has decided to go family friendly, especially considering the fact that it's 21+ after hours. I'm voting with my feet - there is no shortage of places in the area to drink beer, sit outside and play trivia. When Neighbors decides to go edgy once again, maybe I'll change my opinion.

Fun trivia night!

Been to trivia night on Tuesdays and it's always a good time - would recommend getting there early to form a team or join in on one - for the most part everyone there is really friendly!

What happened to this place?

I used to be a regular about 3 years ago but moved to Dover Delaware. We got to know Joey, Jill, Kelly and Mike as our bartenders at Neighbors Pub. They were so good to us. It was our favorite local bar.

I was in town all this week for business and visited the bar 3 times and had a terrible experince each and every time I was there. What happened to this place? The food has gone down hill, the bartenders were rude and it took nearly 20 minutes for me to get 2 beers on Friday night! On one visit, I had to sit and wait for a beer while the bartender talked to a waitress for 10 minutes!

Althought the bar looked like it used to it really lost the feel it used to have. Work on the food a little, improve customer service, and bring back the old staff. Please!

Great Location

I always have a great time at Neighbors...I think this is mostly due to the location more than anything else! It is close to everything in Virginia Highlands & has a great, large outdoor patio area!

What a class-less DIVE

Terrible food, horrible service, arrogant and rude manager. Crappy music and the worst drinks..definitly not what I want to spend my money on. Ill never go back. The Patio is waaaay over rated...BIg Deal...you get to sit outside... Its the junkiest place I have been in the city and the atmosphere is as bad as the dirty, sticky floors....I can't believe they are still in business.

If you have any taste, you'll think otherwise about heading to this place. There are just too many places in the city to settle for this...

Great place to relax and enjoy an afternoon

My first experince 2 years ago was not a good one. I am a new fan now! I have not been here in a while but something has changed and I think it is the mngt. The service was warm and inviting, food great and prices reasonable. I was particulary pleased that I had a nice long visit with a friend and we never felt rushed. This is also a great place if you just want to steal away for a nice meal by your self during an off time and enjoy the outdoors.

Again great service and a great place to relax.

great patio, not great food

nice place to sit outside, but the food needs a lot of help. even the most basic sandwiches aren't very good.
