Gr8 cozy place!

We were visiting Atlanta from Kuwait. Came across Beluga Bar on the net. Decided to drop in, it was a late week night, however the place was packed. As soon as we entered the door the bartender greeted us and introduced himself. Many comfortable areas to sit, relax, listen to live music and unwind. Wonderful place with great staff! We'll be back!!! :)
- Pros: Friendly staff, cozy, best cosmopolitians
- Cons: 1 bathroom

This jazz club is for the Mature crowd
by ldcoates1 at Citysearch
I read the reviews and it was recommended by a family member as a great place to go to for jazz and a cool environment. My husband and I showed up at 10pm and there was a valet person who had to park our car. I was caught off guard b/c usually its optional but here it wasn't. The parking lot for the cars was not far at all so we didn't understand why we couldn't park it ourselves and save $$ but it wasn't allowed. There is a cover at 10pm but they hadn't started it yet. Its a real hole in the wall and it was poorly decorated outside. We walked in to see maybe 20 people scattered throughout the place and most of them being over the age of 35. My husband and I are in our mid 20's and we had no indication that this was a "mature" jazz spot but that wasn't a big issue. The drinks are expensive. I ordered a shot of grey goose for my husband and I and we were charged $17.00! Needless to say, that was the only drink we had all night there. The website and sign outside said the band would start at 10:30pm but the guy outside handling the parking said they would start at a quarter til 11 or 11:00.
They ended up starting at 11:00 and they started off with the band playing and it was really nice. At first. The singer that night was Clairborne and she was funny. She even smoked on stage (literally a soap box). The crowd was something unexpected. By 11:30pm the average age was 55-65. No lie! Maybe we can all party together... well, the songs the band started doing was old old old school... like Gladys Knight and the Pips!
Too old for me and we ended up leaving at 12.At that point the club became crowded and there were drunks fighting right in front of her and I was scared she was going to be knocked off her box. I'd recommend Saturday nights for caucasians over the age of 40. You'll have a great time. If you don't fit that group, you'll be looking around astounded as the night goes on. Also, people were smoking up a storm, be prepared to come out smelling like a chimney.
- Pros: The Bartender was really nice (Suzy)
- Cons: Crowd too mature and smoke in the air

In response to Tattlehaters review. I have meet Andi and Jeff and have been a patron of Beluga for many years. The service has always been excellent and proffesional. Every time I have clients in town I bring them straight to Beluga. I am positive any one asked to leave the establishment was well justified. Keep the up the good work Andi and Jeff see you soon.
- Pros: Service and Atmosphere
Immature servers
by tattletalehater at Citysearch
Last august, a large group of friends from the bar industry including myself went to Beluga. We had a great time. We all laughed, drank, and tipped well. I tried to return with my friend and I was refused service. Why? a friend of Andi the waitress and I do not get along. I never said anything to her. I was drinking bottled water and not there to cause drama. I was simply out with a friend. People can and do try to go on with their lives. I left without incident but it was really embarassing. My friend was shocked. If I had done something to her or another staff member or created a problem on the property or even tried to talk to her- I could understand- because you do not get along with a FRIEND of a staff member who is not on or near the property is no reason to refuse service. This is simply immaturity and petty behavior by a group of bullies. This server needs to grow up and her boss, Jeff, should have made it clear that if I was not TALKING to her, about her or trying to distract her from her job, there was not reason to ask me to leave. I have worked in the hospitality industry over 20 years and there are plenty of people I do not like, but professionalism is important. Obviously, the staff could use a refresher course in this area.
Dooie, my previous experience was great too. I went back with a friend- who was celebrating her birthday. Because these individuals are friends with someone who I have an EXTREMELY bitter dispute they asked me to leave. Because someone in the bar industry does not like you- Do you divide the bars in the city? Run a fence down the middle of town? You grow up and move on. I do still live in this town and if I am not bothering them- then I should have the right to be treated with respect and dignity just like any other person who walks in the door. If a bartender down the road dislikes you- should you be barred from every club? I maintain they were petty and immature. I caused no problems on their property.

A GREAT spot to hang out that has great live music and a professional crowd. Beluga is a great neighborhood spot that has all of the trappings of a friendly neighboorhood bar and an upscale lounge. Very fun and professional crowd who is looking to party and have a good time. Drinks are good and strong, staff is friendly and music is great! They really do a good job with a vast variety of Martini's and EXCELLENT VODKA ! Classy crowd and upscale dress code! An ice change from the Jeans & T's crowd. Highly recommended!

This is a fun bar. I am not sure about this bar being labeled as a classy martini bar but this bar has a good bands playing good music and nice bartenders, Jeff and Andy. Though, my experience is entirely based on the weekday nights. May be it becomes a classy place on the weekend.
This is a kind of bar you can visit by yourself if you are in town for a business.
- Pros: Good live music and great service by bartenders
- Cons: Parking
