Good bands, good drinks
by mbpalm0
I found this place on citysearch since I was here on business. I showed up by myself and met some cool folks and the 2 bands that were playing were both good. Kinda blues/rock/country music. I went there on a Wednesday and there was a big croud with lots of women. The downside is that I thought the drinks were expensive but I am from the backwoods of Kentucky so I might not be a good judge. Overall its worth checking out!
- Pros: Good bands
- Cons: Top shelf and shots were pricey
A little bit of the country finds its way into this suburban bar for good ole' boys and girls.

The Scene
Polo shirts, clean jeans and the occasional sweater set scrub the dirt out of this wannabe back-road bar, replete with bowed heart-pine flooring, scarred wood tables and exposed brick. The faux-dunk interior belies its neon strip-mall locale and makes a perfect home for suburbanites looking for some fun and the occasional hookup. Draught choices run from $3 to $4 dollars a pint and include about 17 of the usual suspects.
The Draw
A mostly young, alt-rock-loving singles crowd fills up the long bar and both the indoor and outdoor seating areas. Beer snobs, beware--but if it's fast and cheap you want, this is the place. As an added bonus, the kitchen serves up reliable New Orleans-inspired goods--such as the hot, crispy po' boys--next to the typical bar fare. True connoisseurs should avoid the imitation andouille, but the seasoned tater tots rival those at the Highlander's in Midtown.
Um....Never Again!!!

I haven't been inside Dixie Tavern in quite a while because the last time I was there I had a horrible time. I gave this place a second chance because I live near it, but I was still utterly disappointed. The drinks are still watered down...the place still smells like garbage...the floor is trashed....and the dress code must be torn jeans and Lynard Skynard t-shirts. The bartenders were okay, but not very attentive considering the place was half-dead. I left after an hour or so and had a much better time eating sushi and drinking beer next door at Rusan's.
This Place Rocks

I've lived in Marietta for 5 years now, and I totally believe Dixie's Tavern is the COOLEST place
in the area. It has a friendly atmosphere, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the music is always top notch. It'a a great place to socialize, have fun, listen to music, and dance if want.
The patrons of the bar are diverse for sure, but this isn't a dive or a Redneck bar by any stretch of the imagination. It's just a real cool place.
Great little Bar!

Well, I had a GREAT time there-the bartenders are top notch, I had a perfect martini there, & I'm hard to please. I wouldn't call it a "free beer bar"-but it was reasonable.
Yes, it's earthy. It's a BAR, not a bistro.
I enjoyed the bands I've seen, I enjoyed the staff. It had a comfortable character--cozy & relaxed.
