Great Sushi; Why worry about the rest
by sbdavi

The specialty of this restaurant is obviously sushi. The rest is just a show; that probably pays the bills. I have had the pleasure of eating at this establishment many times and while I do agree that the wait staff needs some training, it doesn't take away the sole of the restaurant which is the sushi bar. At which you are typically served by the proprietor himself. The sushi is excellent (portions seem too large; but I am obviously accustomed to the rampant 'Chinese' knock off sushi that is everywhere in GA.) Not to say that excellent sushi can't be had by Chinese chefs, but it seems the Asian community believes we will all pay out the nose for sliced up raw fish if the guy preparing it looks Asian (and this is too true!).
In my experience (at the sushi bar) the food is extremely well prepared, with obvious attention to detail. Though a little on the pricey side 'itsumo takai da', I consider it a treat. As for the theatrical grill section, my family has yet to be disappointed with a meal here; though I always wish I were sitting at the sushi bar.
If you want really good sushi (comparative locally; from my experience of course, never been to Japan myself!). You can't go wrong, if you are looking for a family restaurant with a chef performing cheap tricks, there are a thousand in the area and they might be cheaper for the exact same food. Demo, it's worth the trip even if you are sampling the sushi..... Think about it..
- Pros: Excellent sushi, incredible portions
- Cons: Regular dining area relatively typically. Then again the whole style was created for US
Best Sushi I've ever had

Ok, this is a review based solely on the sushi bar. There are some drawbacks to this place, but with that being said this is the best sushi I have ever had. Drawbacks depending on the night your wait could be over an hour, or you could just sit right down. If you are a first time visitor, there is no real clear way in how to order, but ask the chef when he looks at you, and you've got the idea.
The first time I came to this place, within the first few minutes I swore I was never coming back, however after having some of his creations I had now found my new favorite rest.
The customer service can be a challenge, but once you get to sit at the sushi bar it is well worth it.
- Pros: Amazing sushi
- Cons: Waitstaff
Short Staffed and sushi bar closed most of the time

Mt. Fuji used to be GREAT. I love the sushi there. However, over the last couple of years, they have had a difficult time keeping grill-chefs. I can only assume it is due to low pay. It's become such a problem that the sushi chef (Don) has had to man the habachi grills himself. As a result, wait times have increased dramatically and the sushi bar is closed most of the time. What a shame; it used to be a great restaurant with great service. Don, you should offer higher pay to the habachi chefs; you're loosing too much money and customers aren't returning.
PS. I have noticed on occasion that the pest control must have been canceled as well, if you know what I mean.
- Pros: Great sushi, WHEN the bar is open.
- Cons: Way under staffed.

Have been to Mt Fuji several times over the last 12 years for birthdays, special occassions, etc. Took some business associates on June 9, 2008 for dinner. Was sitting at the grill waiting for the chef, the lady had already turned on the grill to allow it to heat up. Received the drinks and was just enjoying the time when all of a sudden out from the grill come a family of you know what, first 2 of them came out and were quickly brushed off to the floor. Then when another 4 came out I demanded we be moved to another table. Then couldn't eat afterwards. I will not go back again.(this site would not allow me to use the word for what kind of you know what it was, but you can probably guess)
- Pros: no wait (now I know why)
- Cons: creepy crawly things

I go to Mt. Fuji every year for my birthday and many times throughout the year. I have had great service every time I've been. The food is delicious, the people are always friendly and the chefs always put on a fun and funny show. I have recommended this restaurant to many people and they have all had the same enjoyable experience as I have. I will continue to recommend Mt. Fuji to friends.

i visited this place for a work party and while it was okay, I was not greatly impressed. The prices match other restaurants in the area, but the food was not that exceptional. the location is easy to get to and the staff was nice, but i wouldn't go out of my way to eat at this place.
Worst Service Ever!!!

We made reservations at Mt. Fuji for a party of 11 - it was a family dinner for my daughter's 5th Birthday. We arrived 10 minutes early and 1 hour later we still had not been seated. After 30 minutes we questioned the hostess about what was taking so long and she replied gruffly "I'm doing the best I can." After another 15 minutes I asked again how much longer it would be, that we have young children to feed and we had made reservations specifically to avoid waiting. The hostess was very SNOTTY and said there are a lot of people waiting and she should have our table ready shortly. Exhausted with her poor attitude and lack of professionalism, I asked to speak with the manager. Her reply to that request was "She's busy." I asked again to see the manager and the hostess said she would be out when she had time.
I was very disappointed to learn that this Mt. Fuji place has a serious lack of respect for reservations, paying customers, large parties, and special events. I WILL NEVER SPEND MY MONEY THERE AGAIN!
We left and went up the street to Marietta Diner. With no reservation we were seated in 15 minutes - and there was a line out the door!! We were given cocktails on the house for our wait, and when the manager heard about our HORRIBLE experience at Mt. Fuji, he treated us to 2 free deserts. We also found out that the table sitting right next to us had also been at Mt. Fuji and had left after 2 HOURS of waiting for a table!!!!
DON'T GO TO MT. FUJI IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE - YOU WON'T GET IT THERE!!!!!
- Cons: WORST HOSTESS, WORST MANAGER, WORST SERVICE EVER!!
The worst customer service that I know of! Not good food either.

My girlfriend and I had 7 PM reservations on Valentines Day. I had never been to Mt Fuji, but at the recommendations of a co-worker I decided to give them a try. I normally eat at Taki in Hiram and should have stuck with what I know is good. Having to wait 45 minutes to be seated was the first issue that started us downhill on this train wreck of a meal. After finally being seated and given our drinks, the orders were taken. The nice couple next to us was rudely told that Sushi was taking 45 minutes and he couldn't order any. While waiting for the chef, the manager refilled all drinks except for mine. When she came back around, I asked if she could refill my drink and was given a lecture that I had already had a refill and that you don't get 5 refills like other places. Needless to say, I correct her and she brought me a refill. Shortly after our chef arrived, the other grill opposite was seated. Our chef managed to not have working lighter for the volcano, dropped the spatula on the floor for which he only wiped it off, and my girlfriends chicken was given to the stranger next to her. The funny part is that the chef motioned for them to swap plates! The man to my left was irate when midway through our meal, the table across from us had Sushi deliver to them. All in all, it was a memorable experience but not for the right reasons.
- Pros: Convenient location in Marietta
- Cons: Food and Customer Service. The cornerstones of a good restaurant.
Horrible Customer Care

Had Birthday reservations for 7pm. They sat us on time. Service was very slow and rude. We sat there with our drinks for over an hour without any food. We then had to track down the manager. Continued to sit for another hour and a half. We would have left but the birthday party was to big. We did not get a cook until 9:45pm. Bills came out and the manager charged us for the whole meal. Manager said he would only take off the Soda pop and water. Manager was very rude. Have never been treated so wrong by a place on someone's birthday. Manager continued to tell us that " Oh well you poeple ate" . I will never go back there and I recommend that No one goes there again. NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE TREATED THAT WAY ON THERE BIRTHDAY!!!!
- Pros: Seated promptly
- Cons: Horrible Customer Care, Over priced food, Horrible for birthdays
