fun hangout
by Etclark at Citysearch
This is a really fun place to go hang out. It has a very chill environment. Prices are good, but they do give you plastic utensils, foam cups, and paper baskets. Live music, on the square, great environment!
Terrible Food
by jj_in_marietta at Citysearch
My husband and I ate at Hemmingways after a friend recommended it to us as a fun place to go for dinner on the weekend. It is so loud inside you can't talk so we opted to sit outside. That was nice until the food came out....it is worse then your typical bar food and the presentation was just as bad. Taco Mac, Suburban Lodge, or The Place on Sandy Plains will give you the same bar atmosphere and with much better food.
- Pros: great location
- Cons: bad food, bad atmosphere
Wouldn't Go Back.....EVER!!!!!
by snyder71 at Citysearch
We decided to give Hemingways a try because of the Entertainment Book's Buy One Get One Free coupon. We will NEVER go back. The food was ok and the service was ok but they would not honor the coupon. I ordered the $10.95 coconut shrip and my husband ordered the $6.95 burger. According to the waitress, you had to order two entree's to use the coupon and we only ordered one (the shrimp). What sense does that make? Wouldn't you WANT to comp a CHEAPER dinner? It looks like we weren't the only ones that had this problem. I agree with the above reviewer....we'd never go back because of the way this was handled.
- Pros: Outside dining is nice
- Cons: Didn't honor coupon
Less restraunt, more bar
by delirium888 at Citysearch
The food is very average for a bar. No real complaints on that side of things. The service is poor though. It would be acceptable if I were just sitting there taking in the atmosphere and watching a band, but when it comes to my food service I expect a bit more.
The bar gets very load, even on a Saturday afternoon so if you like chatting it up make sure you get an outdoor table. They have an excellent location on the Square and people watching from the outdoor tables is great
- Pros: good beer selection
- Cons: very loud, poor table service
Strange Experience

The food was reasonably good with some unusual dishes. However, the owner handled another couple's complaint fairly poorly, and asked them point blank to never come back. That couple was a little houlier-than-thou about their problem, but the owner overreacted.
Then, when it was time to pay, they wouldn't give us the full Entertainment book discount value of the lesser priced order, because one item was a dinner item and the other was a lunch item. The value of the lunch item is less than a dinner item anyway. So, what harm is there in giving a discount of the full value of a lunch item? It's less than giving a discount of the full value of a dinner item anyway.
I wouldn't recommend the place, because they certainly don't operate on the notion that their customers are what keeps them in business.
Good bar, mediocre food

This is a loud, noisy bar. Food is typical bar fare, but the outdoor dining area is a nice place on a warm evening and during different events on the square. It does get very crowded when special events are happening on the square.
