I've been eating at Athens Pizza for many years and have found the food and service to be consistently good. I like the lunch specials, especially the baked spaghetti, and the seasoned Greek potatoes served with the gyro and souvlaki platters. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

Greatest place to eat in Decatur

I would be greatly delighted to see all of you spoiled and coddled trust fund Emory and Agnes Scott students take your business into the over-rated and over-priced Buckhead dinning spots and let the locals enjoy this wonderful restaurant that has thrived here before you were even born. Athens Pizza is THE BEST!

Bad service, bad food.

My friend and I went here for dinner and asked for a gryo wrap to be put on the sub bread, because I do not like the pita bread. The waitress told us the cook would not make it. I thought this was amazing, I have never been to a restaurant where they would not accomidate the customers.

When I got the gyro, it was not very good. I was disappointed.

I would greatly recommend Athens Kouizzina off pleasent hill road, they have much better food and service

Bad food am not an emory student

Went in to eat and had a bad experience service was slow food was bad ordered a large cheese pizza when it came it was greasy and bland and burnt on the bottom also ordered a greek salad which was swimming in dressing I am not a student I am just giving an honest opinion maybe I came on a bad day but will not be back to many good places to eat.

The reviews I read were so out of whack I cannot even imagine where they were eating....

I was looking to see if the special today was linguini with red sauce and seafood and while looking for this information I saw about 5 terrible reviews.... I am puzzled....I have been eating here for 20+ years and have never had a meal that disappointed. The staff is and has always been very helpful and courteous. The food is reasonable and delicious. I even created an account to put in the word, but all you have to do is go and see for yourself. If the food and service was as described then there would no way they would still be in business and thriving after 20+ years at the same location. All I can figure is that the reviews I read were from Emory students who didn't get a discount or something and wanted to flame them. That is okay, for those of us who have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years Athens remains a favorite. When you go give a shout out to Mama Papadapoulous....if you have a problem either she or her son are on hand to handle customer concerns. I am going there tonight for supper. The bad reviews are more a reflection on the reviewers than this resturant. I can't speak for the one in Norcross, but I will check it out as it is near my church...I think it was the one that moved from Chamblee, which was admittedly not as good as the Decatur location, but still worth a trip and in Chamblee with over 100 resturants that is a compliment. So what you should know in a nutshell:

Athens is a great place to eat.

Complaints about food and service are dealt with by the owners and not some slack jawed college kid.

The food is good.

The food is reasonable (you can always find a lot of Presbyterians in the resturant which indicates that the food is a good value for the money because Presbyterians are so cheap but they also have good taste.)

If you go you might get to meet Mama Papadopoulous and she can tell you about life.

worst food anywhere

Went in to see how good this place was not impressed needed a good cleaning ordered the food horrible pizza was tasteless salad was soggy and service was soso will not be back. Worst pizza in town did not have any flavor and was greasy.

Good Afternoon,

Is the newly opened location of ?Athens Pizza? in Norcross next the Shayne?s rib shack associated with you? The reason I am asking is because I assumed that it was and after looking over your menu posted on line I was prepared to try the special:

When I inquired about it to the waiter he said we don?t do that any more. I?m thinking what?? You just opened like a week ago and you don?t do that anymore. So I asked what the gyro comes with and was told nothing it?s pretty much just a wrap. I ordered it anyway hoping for something great. Anyone who has had a real gyro in a family owned Greek restaurant knows you probably don?t need fries. I waited 30 minutes for a small, disappointing, almost flavorless, sorry excuse of a gyro. Dried out meat and you really had to hunt beneath that lettuce to find any believe me. What a huge disappointment. And when I went to pay of course the coupon that you have posted on your website for 10% off does not apply. She said ?oh that?s Decatur? I said no problem and couldn?t wait to get out of there. So $7.22 plus a 1.00 tip plus the dollar I spent on the way back to the office on chips because I am starving after the measly excuse of a sandwich, not to mention the gas I spent to get there, is close to $10.00 and still no fries and no drink. If I got fries a side salad and a drink I could have completely wasted what; about 18 dollars. The 1980?s rock/pop music was a real classy touch too, hooked up to someone?s I-pod behind the counter. They have a whole lot of competition in that price range. Please let me know if they are associated with you.

Amazing Pizza!!

I recently had Athens Pizza supply pizza for an event that I held in Atlanta. A coworker of mine recommended using them since they had such great pizza. I was very happy with the help I received from the staff in setting up the order and they even delivered it since I placed a large order. The pizza was great - everyone commented on its great taste and asked where I ordered it. I will defiantly be visiting the restaurant soon.

worst service

Went there on a tuesday they were not to busy we were seated right away when we walked in we were greated by a pleasant man who sat us with a smile. When our waitress finally came she seemed disinterested in serving us. We ordered a large greek salad and pizza the food was soso. The atmosphere was not friendly and the service was just as bad. We were not impressed. We wanted a desert were not offered any suggestions. We told the man at the register and he apologized and told us to come back which of course we will not.
