Tradition is key!
by Enolgcmeleumas at Citysearch
It's a good they take the effort to keep to tradition. Very hospitable and the environment and other patrons aren't bad at all. Being that this is an inland area the fish is frozen on ice an transported here. Usually fish caught fresh taste better.
- Pros: good price, good food, nice people
- Cons: imported fish
great value

A great little sushi place that serves very good quality Japanese food for very reasonable prices. Unlike a previous post, judging from my Chinese palate, the rice is nothing less than excellent. Also very family friendly. The freshness of its sashimi is on par with MF Sushi Bar which is three to four times more expensive.
- Pros: reasonable prices, really fresh sashimi, great tempura
- Cons: parking can be a hassle at times
Consistently Great Hole in the Wall Sushi Joint

Our favorite sushi place in Atlanta. Forget the places with hype and trendy names. Sushi Avenue is consistently great. The sushi is melt in your mouth fresh every time, and the staff is always friendly and courteous.
Fresh and Authentic

Sushi Avenue is a long time favorite. This little restaurant is hidden at the side of a building along east Ponce in downtown decatur. The restaurant is small, but the taste is big. The fish is very fresh and they even use real crab instead of krab.
Great sushi, great service, relaxed atmosphere
by joelgwebber at Citysearch
We've been going to Sushi avenue almost as long as we've lived in Decatur (since 1999), and it's been consistently excellent the entire time. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the environment is pleasant but not too formal, and the prices are quite reasonable given the quality.
It may be possible to find better sushi elsewhere in Atlanta, but I've never been able to. I'd have to say it compares quite favorably with what I've had in San Francisco and Tokyo.
what an sushi experience
by pididdy at Citysearch
A friend told me about this place so I went to check it out. I was delighted to have found the sushi chef that I was searching for. Chef Jack is here at the Sushi Avenue!! The place was very nice and the food is beyond comparison. I have been a sushi lover for many years and even been to the MF sushi. But this is the place for me. The food is very reasonably priced. And the Chef is the greatest!! Just as I remembered it. When I opened the door and entered the bar, I felt a familiar feeling. A feeling of joy and happiness. What a great feeling. What really surprises me is that Chef Jack remembered who I'm and recreated a dinning experience for me and then shared some more new things with me. I was totally happy. I must say; however, with every great place, there's always room for improvement . The service is kind of slow. and under staffed. Other than that, ererything is great!! SUPER!!!
- Pros: GREAT SUSHI !! GREAT CHEF !!
- Cons: Parking, lazy service
good sushi in Decatur
by alwayseating at Citysearch
We enjoy going to Sushi Avenue in Decatur. The sushi is always very fresh and very well presented. Prices are good and service is nothing less than prompt. The restaurant isn?t pretentious, but it is very nice. It could certainly be a nice date place. The last time we went we sat at the sushi bar which was entertaining, but if you prefer not to be that close to the action, there are plenty of well placed tables throughout the restaurant. I believe they have a shop on the square as well, but we have only gone to the West Ponce location, a few blocks away from the square.
- Pros: fresh sushi, well priced, good atmosphere
- Cons: none to speak of

Earth Day Sushi & Cool Bento Boxes! Marta Construction Is Over!
by jaymaygm at Citysearch
Yes today is Earth Day, and we are at the Square in Decatur To Celebrate! The Marta construction is over, the fence is down, and now everyone can see Sushi Ave., Birdies, and Sage. We came into this little shotgun gem, after listening to the bands on the square. So hip and cool, brick walls, sushi bar, and little tables for two. A little table for two was perfect, with hot tea. Luncheon Bento Boxes were for us. Each one comes with Miso Soup and a small salad with tangy Ginger Dressing. Next that cool Bento Box. Eight, yes I said eight, pieces of delicious California Roll w/Wasbi & Ginger, Tempura of Shrimp & Vegetables, and Rice. All this for the lowly price of $6.95. This is a bargain, and the service was pure royalty. Everytime I took a drink of water or tea, my server was at my table to refill. I was almost afraid to have a drink, but at the same time, I cannot remember service like this. One of the coolest little sushi bars in the metro.
- Pros: Great Sushi, Prices, and Terrific Service!
- Cons: Parking Can Be Tricky, If Driving!
