Customer Service

by gapchnfl at Citysearch

I actually am responding to the comment about the customer service at the Brake Pad. Leigh...not Lee...is a fantastic server, manager, bartender. She has been there longer than any other employee and has built a great clientle. I know first hand that the customers love her. It sounds to me like the review was from a co-worker who just can't cut the mustard. The new staff that has joined the bar...needs some training from the seasoned vetran staff. With a litttle help they can be just as good as Cassie, Leigh, Jen and Marissa. The food is great .... love the burgers....best in the area. The crowd that hangs out there is the best...and what a variety of people. You need to check this place out to make your own decision...its worth it!

Unappetizing sandwich, lackluster service

by sunnyand82 at Citysearch

Cute funky place with a perfect "grub pub" menu (burgers, sandwiches). The Cuban Panini was fine and the fries were great. The Fried Grouper Sandwich was awful! It arrived looking barely cooked-- as pale and white on the outside as it was on the inside. Our food was plunked down and the waitress never came back to the table. The place was only half full and she passed our table several times while visiting other tables, but she wouldn't even glance our way. I should have sent the grouper back. Our drinks ran out. We finished eating and waited for the check. Seeing our empty glasses, the waitress offered drinks to go. But no, thanks, I'd rather have had it with my meal. Maybe the service is better at other times and maybe the other items on the menu are better than the grouper, but I'd try another place before I'd go back.

please ignore the previous comments!!!

by yaypad at Citysearch

Please dont let the previous comments about the brake pad keep you from trying out this uniquely wonderful place! It is a great neighborhood bar, but with that obviously comes individuals opinions about their friends/staff and situations that may occur in the business. The Brake Pad has a large outdoor patio, with a portion of it covered during the winter so you can still enjoy the outdoor feel. There is a wide variety of delicious food on the menu, including burgers, sandwiches, tilapia tacos, to-die-for wings & buffalo chicken sandwiches & quesadillas, and so much more! There are also daily specials on new food items & beer, as well as a late night menu so you can snack til midnight! Every monday is trivia and every saturday is a racier trivia! They are both a blast to play! The staff is playful & witty, and you're guaranteed to see familiar faces in there every time you return, with a group of regular customers that dine several times weekly! Please come try it out and see for yourself! (and sorry about the drama posted on here in the other reviews!!! it really has nothing to do with the business!)

responding to below message of one server

by nopad at Citysearch

I was wondering how a customer would know who the manager on duty was and that they switch from day to day. Why would there be a manager on duty when the manager supposedly works "So many hours that she needs a 3 day weekend every other weekend". Maybe this wasn't actualy a customer but someone else. I'm sure they were out of things-beer & food; and that would fall on who ever was responsible for ordering; but no one is held accountable for what they do and don't do, especially the owners daughter.

  • Cons: no Leigh

Be careful of staff

by sbnett at Citysearch

This is a great little burger/bar type place with a great atmosphere most of the time. One precaution is a server named Lee. She is unfriendly, horrible to the other employees and just acts miserable. If you go check it out, ask for someone different than her to serve you, unless you like to be treated with disrespect. The rest of the staff is very nice, chatty and enjoy helping. If Lee happens to be the manager for the day, I wouldnt even stay to eat, but wait until the next visit in hopes of getting a different manager. Reason for that is that everything seems to get slowed down and then she disappears. I have witnessed many people turn around and leave just knowing Lee is there. But other than her, the place is really nice to have a bite to eat and nice drink.

  • Pros: Great location, good food, atmosphere
  • Cons: Service - one in particular

Great feel, inconsistent food

by reatl at Citysearch

I can't get the hang of the food here. Brunch is sometimes good, sometimes bad. The atmosphere is fun, converted building with some innovative fixtures. Staff is always helpful. Not sure I'd suggest going again with other cool choices nearby, but it's defnitely trendy.

  • Pros: cute atmosphere
  • Cons: inconsistent food

This neighborhood joint wins with funky-friendly vibe and worth-a-trip snacks and burgers.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
The folks behind Oakhurst's Universal Joint turned another rehabbed gas station into a quintessential neighborhood bar. As friendly and low-key as U-Joint, Brake Pad features a larger patio and slightly more of a restaurant feel. Its crowd reflects the diverse neighborhood, which is one exit from the airport and high on Atlanta's gentrification list. A blend of suited professionals, flight attendants and edgy creative types translates to a curious jukebox lineup.

The Draw
Brake Pad is better known as a bar, but its menu shines. The highlight is a plate of fries, topped with jack cheese, bacon, jalapenos and scallions, and served with ranch dressing. Snacks, including creamy hummus and crispy, tempura-battered onion rings, are miles better than your average bar chow. The same goes for top-notch, hefty burgers, from the plain to the messier blue cheese. The shrimp quesadilla, filled with summer vegetables, satisfies lighter appetites.

Best burgers

by elliok at Citysearch

The Brake Pad has the best hamburgers in Atlanta! They are always cooked to perfection just the way you want it. They don't do all the fancy toppings like the Vortex, just simple and perfect. Their patio is also wonderful, except when the train comes!

  • Pros: Burgers, fries, beer selection
  • Cons: , parking

It used to be good....

by unowen at Citysearch

I used to like this place alot but ever since they got rid of their chef Andy, I can tell you that the food hasn't been at the same yummy level. I used to look forward to Andy's creative and delicious specials, but now it seems as if they are only going for the blue-collar average run of the mill fair. It's a shame because he really did set the place apart. Still, the patio is great except when the train noisely rumbles by... and the service is pretty good. It's a good place to go for lunch if you work in the area because you really don't have much choice anyway; and I hate Waffle House!

  • Pros: resonable prices
  • Cons: bad parking, the train!
