I enjoy the Tofu Soup
by StevenJ3
$7.95 tofu soup with rice or bean-rice and all the traditional Korean appetizers.
- Pros: Very good, filling lunch
- Cons: Used dishes often stacked on tables
Buford Highway’s Korean version of Waffle House.
by Jonathan Baker
In Short
Fuzzy televisions play Korean soap operas, menus arrive worn-out and a bit greasy, decorations are sparse and outdate: this is what 24-hour Buford Highway joints are supposed to be like. If you want Asian flash, try Midtown’s Spice Market. If you want bibim bop at 4am, look no further. Skip the typical on-table barbecue grills and go order the namesake. Tofu soup is comforting, gently-laced with buttery-soft tofu and tastes like a spicy hybrid of Thai coconut and Vietnamese pho. We prefer the seafood option, stuffed with in-shell clams, shrimp and baby scallops. Rice hash--chocked with beef, mushrooms, spinach and an egg--arrives in a sizzling clay-pot, accompanied by a half-dozen (free) Korean small plates. There’s no alcohol and hot tea is curiously served in a plastic cups, so go with what got them there.
New Managment-SUCKS!

This placed used to be quite good with 2 nice Korean ladies. Not having been there for 6 months, everything's turned to s**t. This Korean b***h, who we've never seen working there before, was first reluctant to take our orders when 2 other friends haven't showed up yet. Uh, hello? We are the only customers there at 11p with 10 other tables empty. The menu choice is drastically cut and prices went up. They are so cheap to replace the menu that they just put white tapes over the discontinued items. We were treated as if that is the only restaurant in town and is so important we have to eat there. Screw this piece of work! In this economy and this attitude, I'd be surprised if they last through May. I'd strongly recommend this place if you are looking for some Korean inhospitality. I was gonna rate it with ZERO star but the system requires at least one.
- Pros: You don't have to worry about not finding a table
- Cons: RAISED PRICES, LESS CHOICES, NASTY SERVICE
24 hours of great Korean food
by foodreview88
One of my fav. Korean restaurants. This restaurant has better service than most of the korean restaurants out there. They are open 24 hours; always great food, and great service. The little dishes that come with your meals are great too. They pan-fry the little yellow croaker; it's always tasty and fresh. They let you choose the type of rice you want, too. Try the bean rice. They treat all customers the same. Unlike some Korean restaurants only 'attentive" to korean customers.
Not great, even late.

Tofu is tofu, we all get it. However, at 4am of course it's not going to be the best tasting food EVER but atleast taste decent, AND I still know what bad service is at 4am. This tofu house is usually the hot spot on the weekends where clubbers go to eat, when they are craving asian food. There is only 1 server, and 1 cook. The wait is way too long and the little ban chans ( like appetizers ) seem to be just sitting there, which makes me gag almost when I go up and pay my bill and see it just sitting there. I do not recommend this place, there is a much better tofu house up the street, but it is not 24 hour...
- Pros: location
- Cons: price, service, people, the LONG wait for your food
A place for late nighters to get something a little more ethnic.
by trentchau
When a restaurant is open for 24 hours we all expect to make compromises. First thing that comes to mind is greasy quick foods like Waffle House, or Steak and Shake. Also you don't expect to get anything much different than some various form of cooked potatoes with ketchup, and possibly a well frozen steak cooked on the grill just for you. 88 Tofu house throws a curve ball in the loop for you, and though it doesn't leave the greasy out it does bring an ethnic flair into the mix.
If you haven't even Korean much or your new to it, 88 Tofu house doesn't represent the best that Korean has to offer. Walking into the restaurant is like walking into a Denny's or any little mom and pop diner across I-40 in middle America. Until you realize unlike a bunch of truckers staring at you..it's now a bunch of angsty teenage Asian boys with spiky hair, and the sometimes pretty sometimes generic looking Asian girlfriends.
Sit down, relax and order some food. You have the typical options for a Korean restaurant. If it's your first time, spend the $13.95 and get a bulgogi. Number 16 on the back of the menu I believe. It's a meat dish cooked with onions served with rice.
You'll notice before you dish comes out, a bunch of sides come first. If you are new too the Korean experience (what the hell are you doing here?) try them all. Kimchi is not as spicy as it looks.
Food is subjective. I personally like it, it's not a class but tell you the truth all the great conversations had in their mixed with the fact its one of the few places in Atlanta to get rice 24 hours makes it worth that much more to me.
I've only been about 8 times, but the staff recognizes me and is genuinely happy I'm there...makes the restaurant worth it.
- Pros: Something different late at night, cute asian girls, 24 hour Bulgogi!
- Cons: Scary Hot Tea, Wait service, porcupined haired asian cats giving you weird looks cause you're staring at their girl.
Poor Food Poor Service Not so Cheap
by jimmy0623
The food was taseless, the meat was low quality which made me wonder if I would get sick later that day. Ambiance was poor. The service was poor. Overall it was just a very negative experience. For bad quality food, our bill was almost $30 for 2 people. It may be open 24 hours but I would prefer Waffle House long before I would consider this place.
- Pros: None
- Cons: See the review
Not the best Korean anywhere, not at all
by reneeextensiondiva
But open 24 hours redeams it a bit. Soup iis beyond bland, and this place doesn't seem squeaky clean, but I would go there, only after other places were closed. Much better than the awful waffle so why not?
- Pros: Open all the time
- Cons: shouldn't be your first Korean
Avoid.

Did somebody drop the whole spice container in my soup? Inedible. Appetizers have the "Fridge taste".
Korean diner serves up spicy dishes and Asian specialties 24 hours a day on Buford Highway.

The Scene
The mom-and-pop operation is sparsely furnished with maroon tables and booths, but regulars don't go for the ambience. Lunch and dinner specials for $5.99 and $6.99 appeal to locals; in-towners make the trip to satisfy late-night cravings. Service is polite and swift.
The Food
Don't let the tofu in the name fool you. Vegetarian dishes abound, but there are also plenty of meat and seafood specialties. Straightforward descriptions on the numbered menu make it easy to navigate. For more traditional choices, try the spicy kimchi soup or Korean-style marinated beef. Tofu soups are popular with eight flavors, from oyster to shrimp. Standards include fried rice and chicken teriyaki. The rice hash served in a clay pot, or bibim bop, is a fried mix of mushrooms, egg, spinach and sprouts which comes with a dozen smaller side dishes including two styles of kimchi.
