A surprisingly good French eatery in the 'burbs.

In Short
Strangely located near the train tracks on Atlanta Rd, a little piece of France seems to be airlifted and plunked down in this suburb. While Douceur’s lack of refinement and small menu is not necessarily what the French are known for, the bakery portion of the restaurant comes damn near close to the fresh breads, pastries, madeleines, and coffees that Paris boasts. Lunch is the best time to visit. Croque Monseirs and Madames are quite tasty with the béchamel and gooey melted cheese, though they should really re-think the bread they choose (try asking to swap out). Do your best to blend in to French culture by attempting to order in French, as it seems the servers are just as interested in making you feel welcome as they are feeding you--which is a welcomed idea.
Fantastic

This bakery makes the best pastries I have had, and I have been to bakeries all over the U.S. The chocolate tarte, and the fruit tarte are my personal favorites. But, eveything from the brioche to the chocolate logs are exquisite. The owners are also very nice, as are the rest of the staff. I highly, highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fantastic, authentic french pastry.
- Pros: Parking, Staff, Food
- Cons: None
What a Gem!

I think that Douceur de France is one of the best bakeries in the neighborhood (and probably Metro Atlanta!). Living in Marietta for many years I did not hear about this lovely and very European cafe until now. Cafe food is absolutely amazing; it is very delicious, flavorful, and satisfying. It absolutely makes you want to come back for more. Also, the cafe has a large selection of decadent and wonderful cakes and their pastries and baguettes are an absolutely amazing addition to any breakfast!
- Pros: Food, Ambience, Parking
- Cons: None
A taste of France
by Jewelly
We took our French foreign exchange student for lunch and she loved it. Even the American employees spoke in French to her. The food is delicious and the pastries are beautiful. If only there had been more seating.
- Pros: lots of French speaking patrons - an endorsement in itself!
- Cons: small, not enough seating
Best croissants outside of Paris
by slyfox99
This might be best-kept secret in Marietta--absolutely the best pastries I've had outside of Paris. My Parisian friend swears this is the best French bakery within driving distance and I definitely agree.

We were there for breakfast, french toast was delish and service was european: slow, but who cares. Loved it! We'll go again and again!

All that's missing is the Eiffel Tower at this authentic Parisian bakery and cafe.
A Little taste of Paris

Even though I live in Downtown Atlanta, I find myself at least once every two weeks making the trek to Marietta to visit this brilliant french patisserie. They are hands down the best bakery in Atlanta, and as close as you'll get to a bakery in Paris. It is definitely not in the most convenient location in Marietta, but I promise that it is well worth it. With wonderful crossaints, petit fours and French Roast coffee, along with the pleasant French family that owns the establishment, you will not be disappointed.
- Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere
The Best Pastries... EVER
by david_loeffel
This place is plucked right out of France into the backyard of Marietta, GA. It's hard to believe, but it's true. Very true. Get whatever you want, it's soooo good, it's amazing. Almond croissants that melt in your mouth, eclairs baked fresh in the traditional French style (we're not talking cream filled donuts here!) Go buy and reward your taste buds.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Incredible Food, Like a trip to Paris
- Cons: , Not much parking
