Wonderful Atmosphere and Menu Choices
by tloliver79
Looking for reasonable priced soul food... this is the place. I enjoyed the smothered chicken with fried corn and collard greens. Service and food arrived within minutes...good but unfortunately my food was lukewarm and since I was seated under a fan, my food became cold fast. Fried Green Tomatoes was great and came out HOT! Determined to give it a fair chance, I took the Midnight Train (4 chx wings and a waffle) home. Was great reheated :)
Ghetto!

This place is a DUMP! Costs $7 to park for mediocre and the staff was odd. Paid to park, doors open and lot full to find out they weren't open. While travelling through Atlanta it was important for one of us to experience it and I was on the fence. After the "awh" response and a walk to the door neither of us want to return. All the reviews say the food is without flavor so I consider that the hostess did us a favor.
I wish I could review this place

I have tried for the last two weekends to go and eat here, but it's never actually open during the posted hours.
I'm over it
Great service
by ami78
I am a picky eater and I am not that easy to please when it comes to food. Well, this restaurant did offer some good food, but I was not delighted nor impressed. The chicken was a bit dry. The service though was fantastic and the service crew was courteous in answering all of my questions pertaining to the food preparation.
Not Atlantas best!
by JeffMarch
I came here hoping to get some of Atlantas best fried chicken and was very dissapointed. First, the chicken arrived after ordering it in only 3 minutes. The restaurant was not horribly busy but it was the first clue it was not cooked to order. The chicken was rubbery and the crust was not crispy at all. I inquired if it was held under a lamp and was told no, on a steam table! The waiter brought another order that was supposed to be fresher but was no different. Also the restaurant does not carry vinegar for the greens or butter for the corn bread rolls. I was very surprised here as well billing itself as a traditional southern soul food restaurant. I htink the success of this place is based solely on the namesake.
- Pros: Hard to give a Pro
- Cons: Fried Chicken!
taste like heaven

I was visitng a friend who lives in Atlanta and she has heard of this place. We decided to try it out. It was beyond anything I have ever eaten!! He was very attentive and comical! This was the best meal I have ever eaten. I will return to Atlanta only to take my family to this food estabilishment that should be called love....

Fried Chicken!!
by LBCandy
I'm from San Francisco, and came to town wanting some good southern fried chicken. A friend of mine took me here last night and I can't stop thinking about it. Best fried chicken I have ever had ( and I've eaten a LOT of fried chicken in my life). greasy goodness.
- Pros: amazing fried chicken
I was very disappointed
by brownstone01
In mid May of this year myself, a lady friend of mine was vistiing my male friend in GA and my man announced he was taking up to the Glady's Night restaurant, i was so excited.
Once we entered the restaurant we were immediately displeased because the employees that greeted up were what appeared to be teenagers and just standing arround and decided to seat us. once we gave our orders and were seated my lady friend was served and my meal came out in portions( not all at one time) and my male friend had to wait an additional 10minutes for his.
we asked the young waitress why this was and she said they didn't have a "runner" not sure what a runner does but ok. Than once our meal was all served the greens were over cooked all veggies were ! The salmon dry and over cooked and my male partner had the fried chicken and gravy and his was so overloaded with gravy he could not even taste the meat. (he was embarrassed because he bragged good things)
Needles to say no one ate their meal instead of complaining. Not to metions as we looked around at all the empty tables there was quite a bit of food remaing on others plates as much.
My friend paid for the meal (over 60.00)and we left. This was the talk of our whole trip since this was the very disappointing to us all. I would really like to try to eat at the restaurant again but not if the food is this bad again and only if it is the one downtown restaurant.
I had told my friend this but he indicated he would never go back and he llives in GA.(i felt bad for him since he still paid for it)
I do plan to visit GA again soon, but not sure if i will be going to the restaurant. I sure hope that this is truely not how the food taste and i hope the service is not always this poor. I personally feel this is a embarrassment to a legend with a good reputation.
I love Gladys Night and her music but this was a big disappointment to all of us.
Sincerely,
brownstone01
- Pros: I was pumped up to go since I had heard the good things.
- Cons: employees were to young and unprofessional.....
