This is my first review, and Tuesday was my first trip to Ann's Snack Bar.

When I first heard about Ms. Ann's massive burgers, my first thought was, "Break out the Pepto." I honestly didn't think all that stuff piled on a mammoth burger would be good. I thought it would be overwhelmingly gross. No, no,no... The burger is just plain fabulous! I mean, yeah, it looks kind of like a train wreck and is about the size of a Little League catcher's mitt, but I'm telling you, it is SO tasty!

I'm a big guy and I love a good burger, but I could only put away half of it. The same went for my friend. He could only manage half as well. Oh, I meant to tell you, the chili on the burgers is the bean-free, wonderful chili that has the same flavor as the chili on The Varsity's fabulous hot dogs! Just finely ground beef and just the right spices! Mmmmmm!

The fries filled up a second plate. Everything is hot and fresh, hand prepared by Ms. Ann. You get your canned drink out of a drink refrigerator at the end of the counter. Napkins, salt, pepper and Ketchup are there on the counter. It's a very basic little place but from now on, I will call it "Burger Heaven!."

Ms. Ann hand-crafts your burger before your eyes. She is truly a burger artist at work. But don't rush her, don't break in line or be ill-mannered or foul mouthed to ANY degree. I haven't witnessed Ms. Ann having to "discipline" anyone, but my friend has! We were both throwing around the yes Ma?ams, no Ma?ams, thank you Ma?ams and please, Ma?ams like they were salt!! That was a mighty big knife she was using to cut those mammoth burgers, and I didn't want to see it up close!! She was very sweet to us and we dropped a few bucks in the tip bowl as we were leaving.

If you LOVE an excellent burger (and who doesn't), you MUST go to Ann's Snack Bar!! You need to experience this. It'll be worth the wait. And put something in that tip jar when you leave!!

  • Pros: It's a wonderfully unique experience, and the burger was the best ever!
  • Cons: Parking is almost non-existent, and with seating of only seven or eight at the time, the wait could be very long.

Here's the skinny on this place: You don't go for the food. Really. You don't. The food was just so so. You can make a better burger yourself. You go for the experience, nothing else. If you aren't able to spend a few hours waiting, don't even think about it. She only seats 8 at a time, and then only once they are done do the next diners sit. Don't even try to come in the door if she's full. Miss Ann throws a lot of ATTITUDE, but oh what FUN! (Ask her what she thinks of Shirley Franklin). Puts me in mind of that famous mean "Soup Guy" on Seinfeld but instead of Soup, it's hamburgers.

The food, honestly, is nothing special. It's diner food, properly cooked and served, but it's nothing to write home about.

Rarely will you find someone there that has been there before. When you show up, remember who's in line in front of you, and who's in line behind you and respect that. Miss Ann will throw you out in a hot second if you break in line, or get out of order. Don't talk on the phone in her place. Be mindful of your manners. My whole experience was about 3.5 hours, from first walking in to leaving. I made some good friends while I waited on the patio, and the person who sat next to me.

If I had to do it all over again, I honestly say that I wouldn't waste the time. She's a lovely lady, really. But not worth the wait.

  • Pros: It's a once in a lifetime place to go.
  • Cons: The waiting is really just insane.

Ms Ann's is an INSTITUTION!! We have been going here since the 1990's. Everytime we go to Atlanta we MUST go there. Her restaurant is the quissessential gastronomical experience with attitude to boot. If you want a meal for the family that is clean and always made fresh right before your eyes go to Ann' Snack Bar. If I order a sandwich it takes me adout 4 days minimum to eat it. My husband can usually down his in about 2 - 3 days. (No Kidding!) Ms Ann is a very calm Southern Lady. As long as you mind your manners, don't cut the line (which you cannot see), or curse in her place you will have no problem. But if you break her rules she will cut you down in no time. (Remember your grandmother's kitchen rules?) I think the is most of the problem with some peolpe going there, they are used to the me syndrome and doing what they want to do rather then getting along with others.

This a must visit. The character alone gives you your money's worth. I cannot recommend any one item. Everyting on the menu is great. Use your own palate and discretion to place your order. But the main thing is when you get there ask who was the last to come in and follow that person, do not skip!!

  • Pros: The food!
  • Cons: The wait, but that also apart of the ambience.

This place is truly an experience. For me, it was more than the burger, it was the experience. The name should really be called " TheBurger Show". Never experience anything like this. I went for the first time and much to my surprise. I was one the one's who was totally embarrased. The burgers are really good but,the wait does take patience, it you are going with someone who is impatient be prepared and take a book to read or a game of chess.

Had I know that it would be that long, I would have been more prepared for the wait. I took my husband and the only reason he stayed was the crowd gathered outside told him it was worth the wait. I would definetly go again and regardless to what anyone says it is worth the wait.

  • Pros: prices are great.
  • Cons: long wait, parking.

FROM THE BURGER TO THE CHILI CHEESE SPLIT (A HOT LINK, DEEP FRIED) , YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG. I LOVE MS. ANN, THE FIRST TIME I WENT, I LISTENED TO EVERYBODY ELSE AND WAS TO SCARED TO DO ANYTHING BUT ORDER. NOW EVERYTIME I GO I GET GOOD CONVERSATION WITH MY FOOD. IF YOU NEVER BEEN I SUGGEST YOU HURRY, MS. ANN HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT RETIREMENT FOR YEARS. SHE DOES NOT WANT THE HOOPLA SO SHE JUST PLANS TO CLOSE ONE DAY AND NOT COME BACK. (SHE'S GOING TO DISNEY WORLD) LOL.

JUST A LITTLE F.Y.I. MS.ANN IS NOT MEAN. RESPECT HER AND YOU WILL BE FINE. DON'T LET HER AGE FOOL YOU, SHE'S FAR FROM SLOW. WE HAVE HAD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM POLITICS TO THE ECONOMY. NOW THE MAN THE HELPS HER OUT FROM TIME TO TIME IS HER BROTHER, HE WORKS FOR HER PART TIME BUT YOU WILL ONLY GET BASIC CONVERSATION FROM HIM. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE JUST TAKES PATIENCE AND COMMON SENSE. THE PEOPLE WHO GET PUT OUT OR CURSED OUT DESERVE IT. IF YOU WALK UP AND YOU SEE 10 PEOPLE SITTING OUTSIDE WITH NO FOOD, WHY WOULD YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST GO IN? COME ON NOW. IF YOU EVER WONDERED WHY NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING WHEN YOU WALK BY? CAUSE YOUR GOING TO BE PART OF THE ENTERTAINMENT, IT'S FUNNY TO SEE...

  • Pros: THE FOOD
  • Cons: THE WAIT, BRING A BOOK

This place is classic! Ann is Ann. Her rules are important and the food is worth the wait!! My husband and I read about Ann's Snack Bar in an Atlanta Magazine years ago, we went for the famous burger and got a HUGE great burger and a really cool experience! If you are looking for a fake OTP dining experience, you are NOT going to find that at Ann's! If you are nice to Ann, Ann is nice to you and have I mentioned how delicious her burgers are? Come Hungry and Leave FULL! You will love it!!

  • Pros: a true experience and a great burger!
  • Cons: small inside, but that is half the charm

First and last time! I drove all the way from Gwinnett Co. and this was not worth the trip. Parking is horrible, I had to park at the package store. The inside is dirty! Ms. Ann has a ugly attitude, and is unapproachable. If you are going to spend your money for anything it shouldn't be this. If you want to be treated like trash, wait 2 hours for a burger, and get cursed out, then this is the place for you! Old school or New school, you should still show some respect to your patrons. There were no visible rules. I've eaten burgers all of my life, and this would have been the worst due to customer service. You would have to be an idiot to constantly spend your money for this type of service. That shhhhhhh is not pretty, or attractive.

  • Pros: Get something outside Gwinnett Co..,
  • Cons: Passed up several great restaurants for nothing!!!!! Thanks.

I have been to Ann's Snack Shop about 4 times and I have respectively waited for each of them. For people that expect a Burger King or Fudruckers experience you will not get that at Ann's. Her shop is more than a place to eat, it is an experience. There are rules to be followed and if you don't like them you don't need to eat there. The rules have been the same for well over 30 years. Her burger is by far one of the best burgers I have ever had. It is worth the money and the wait. Everything is fresh to order and she literally cuts onions over the burger as it cooks. Is this somewhere you should go every week? No because it would not be healthy, but it is great to treat yourself every now and then to eat great food and see a legend of Atlanta.

  • Pros: The food
  • Cons: the parking

Ann is not the nicest person but she keeps it real. The burger was a good old fashioned buger which we Geed these days. I would take her any day over McDonlad's and Wendy's. Ground chuck or beef nothing with steroids or soy meat. She makes it right in front of you.

  • Pros: Quality meat
  • Cons: Wait time is ridiculous, no good parking, confusing order process
