BAD FOOD QUALITY AND POOR SERVICE

by Robin Davis at Citysearch

Agave is aweful. It was an ok place in the past, but a change in the kitchen chef and staff and taken this place to the dogs. And, litterally, my pets would not even eat these leftovers.

Trust me...the food is bad and taste like instant mix junk.

The meat was overcooked and the taste was not good.

This place is living off of their old reputation, but as of December of 2009, it has gone down.

Do not waste your time or your money. Taco Bell is better than Agave is currently.

  • Pros: The history was good, but Agave has now gone downhill
  • Cons: Bad Food, Bad Food, Bad Food!!!

Atlanta's Best

by lussuria at Citysearch

I LOVE this place! The bar is beautiful, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable, the chef is brilliant and his creations are delicious!

For me, the best part of this time of year (when the weather cools down) is being able to indulge in the white bean soup with Navajo fry bread sticks (so yummy~) with a wonderful Corzo Perfecto margarita.

Okay - I know where I'm going for dinner tonight!

  • Pros: incredible food, great drinks, friendly service
  • Cons: there's only one Agave...

Unassuming Elegance - I Love This Place

by grave girl at Citysearch

This lovely little restaurant has world-class cuisine at unmatched prices. The spices are layered with expert precision (though if you desire more heat, you have only to ask). The food is the freshest you will find anywhere. The tequila bar boasts an extensive and exceptional selection (with bartenders who know their products well).

My favorites are the spicy tequila shrimp and the chile seared halibut, though everything I've tried has been delicious. I haven't tried the vegetarian menu yet, but I intend to soon.

I love the "feel" of this place. It's so easy to set aside the pressures of the work day and relax here. The layout and the artwork are more than inviting.

Reservations are recommended and you can either call or set up a reservation online. Even so, I've dropped in and been seated timely.

One word of warning - though the chips and salsa are tasty, you'll regret filling up on them once your meal arrives.

  • Pros: Superior Food, Impressive Service, Relaxed Ambiance
  • Cons: none.

the absolute BEST!

by Scarlett R at Citysearch

My experiences at this restaurant have always been outstanding. I am consistently impressed by the food and the service. This is one of those rare places in which you feel the staff truly cares and will go out of their way to ensure that you have a wonderful night. It is a lost art in today's world and I'm truly grateful for their dedication and professionalism.

Every item I've had has been flavorful, fresh and completely satisfying (note - the portions are rather large so I always get dessert "to go" to enjoy later at home).

I'm truly addicted to the white bean soup. When I'm not feeling well, I actually dream about it (yes, it IS that great)! The seared tuna is wonderful, the scallops always perfectly prepared and I've never had seafood that tasted so fresh. The cayenne fried chicken and (this world's best) mashed potatoes is the ultimate comfort food and the grilled vegetable plate is the absolute best way to feel like you're eating healthy while indulging in decadence! The spices are masterfully blended so each bite has layers of flavor.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who enjoys incredible food and genuinely friendly service - it is the absolute BEST!

(you can't beat the prices either!)

  • Pros: amazing food and drink, great atmosphere, impressive service
  • Cons: one margarita leads to two margaritas... :)

Very disappointing

by jessicabcd at Citysearch

After reading lots of wonderful reviews, I expected a great meal at Agave with lots of spice and flavor; I received neither. I ordered the tomato, avocado, and basil salad, and the "spicy ranch drizzle" tasted like watered down Hidden Valley ranch. The citrus vinaigrette was pretty flavorless. I expected more than 4 thin slices of avocado, too. For my entree, I ordered the appetizer portion of the Guajillo mussels, which were supposed to come in a "signature red chile citrus wine broth with fresh basil... and lime." Though the broth was red, it wasn't flavorful, and I did not taste any lime. I would not return.

  • Pros: Good portions
  • Cons: Bland flavors, not inventive

Awesome place for dinner

by digitd at Citysearch

Great southwestern menu. Food is always consistent, they cook everything fresh and from scratch and the value is great. My wife and I come here 3-4 times a month for dinner (so we've been there at least 30 times) and have yet to be disappointed. We even bring our family and friends here when they come in from out of town. You know how sometimes you rave about a restaurant and then bring someone there and it's terrible? That has never happened to us at Agave. I highly recommend this place. For an even better deal, head over to their website and look for the monthly specials before you go. Definitely try the alaskan halibut if you're in the mood for fish.

  • Pros: Great food, good service, good prices
  • Cons: None

Southwestern Heaven!

by Cece602 at Citysearch

Definitely my favorite restaurant in Atlanta! The food is consistently excellent, the cocktails are the best in the city, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. And if you like tequila, they have over 100 varieties on hand! Agave also has amazing specials all the time, so check out their website to get in on some good deals. My personal favorite deal is their 2 for 1 apps from 5-7pm every night at the bar. Can't beat that!

  • Pros: Best Southwestern and margaritas in Atlanta
  • Cons: Only one location!

One of my favorite Atlanta restaurants

by sunnybunny23 at Citysearch

I have loved Agave for years. My fiance and I went on our first date here and keep going back for more. The food and margaritas are delicious. The atmosphere is romantic and fun. The food is very consistent, I have only had one meal here that I wasn't completely thrilled with in the 10+ times I have visited. That's not too shabby! Make sure you get a Peachtree Margarita. The short rib is delicious and that flourless chocolate torte is definitely worth it.

  • Pros: Location, Food, Service, Atmosphere

Great Southwest Experience

by rockdawg at Citysearch

The best southwestern experience in Atlanta/southeast.... not sure which was better food or service....if Agave was closer it would be a weekly stop.......you won't find a better selection of tequilla's and no one compete's with the margarita's......if you have not been it's your loss... truly one of Atlanta's best.

  • Pros: Service, quality food, and margarita's
  • Cons: not one in Cobb County

First & Last visit to Agave. Not worth the Money or Time!

by MrBryant at Citysearch

In most cases, a Good or Poor review usually starts with the meal. However, from the moment my party entered Agave for dinner this past Friday night, the Host left a very bad taste on the pallet. We had reservations for 8:30pm, we arrived at 8:20. The Host greeted us, confirmed our reservation and asked us to wait. This was expected and acceptable. However, after several other parties arrived after us, a small crowd gathered at the entrance. Within minutes, the Host greeted some personal friends/family of his and IMMEDIATELY seated them. Those of us waiting to be seated, were very offended by this. Once we were seated, the waitstaff was very attentive. I can't remember the fancy menu name for the meal I ordered...but basically we paid $15 for a Fried Chicken breast, spoonful of Mashed Potatoes and Corn-on-the-Cob, which was heavily scorched. I thought I was the only person that was not pleased by the meal. However, while waiting on the Valet, another party also mentioned how unpleasant their visit was. They too, also noticed the Host seating his personal friends immediately, while asking others guests to wait. ....Just in case your wondering how we knew these were his personal friends/family...it's because I asked. He did not deny that fact that, Yes, he did give his friends/family personal preference. I can only hope that the Restaurant owner can depend on the personal friends/family of his Host staff to sustain his restaurant in the future, because that was our last visit to the Agave.

  • Pros: Excellent Waitstaff
  • Cons: Rude Host Staff
