$50 for a $6 drink!
by DrDrake
I was at Hand in Hand for a Bachlorette Party on Friday night. I opened a tab but only bought a $6 drink before heading to the next bar. The next morning when I checked my bank account balance I noticed they charged me $50, not $6. It has been 4 days and 3 phone calls later and the money is still not back in my account. Hand in Hand assured me that this is a "policy" that they have that they do because it makes it easier for them so they know that people have enough money in their accounts to open a tab!!! Maybe easier for them, but now I can't buy gas!!! I want my money back! This policy is not posted in the bar nor does the bar tender tell you that you are going to be charged 50 bucks for opening a tab! Don't go unless you want your money stolen from you!!!
Patio Sunday and great crowd on Saturday
by craigintown
I was out late Saturday and went to Hand In Hand to see what everyone was talking about in the Highlands. Seems they just changed over the staff and the place has had a resurgence so I wanted to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised that my favorite in town pub is back!.. The scene was 25-35, good looking professionals and it was fun. New music, lowered drink prices and the service is good.
Parking is free, but i walked from my house, so that wasn't a problem.. I met up some friends and my server told me about the $1 Sundays and I was skeptical.. D
Day two:Sunday 3pm, I went there for the second day and this place has heard the patrons and the locals and now offers $1 Social Sundays with $1 Fish Tacos (good) and $1 PBR's.. Flip cuppers you will like that they have $4 Pitchers every Sunday.. Live music, and the people watching was fun.. i will be back.
$1 Beers/$1 Fish Tacos, this is my new SUNDAY SOCIAL place to drink!

Ok, so times are tight and I am on a budget, but that doesn't mean I don't like to have some fun.. Where can I go to listen some tunes, relax with my friends all on a budget? Problem solved..
$1 Sunday Social (officially starting March 1st).. Sit on the patio, order the $1 PBR and delicious $1 Fish Tacos and have a great time for under $10 all day!.. Parking is free and the people watching is great. This is my new hotspot this spring and summer.. hope to see you there... I'll buy you a drink , for $1 dollar of course!
And don't miss the $2 Burger Tuesdays.. All day good burgers $2.. great price for what you get.
- Pros: $1 Beers/Fish Tacos on Sunday
- Cons: none
Great staff, comfortable setting
by brettly
This is an excellent place to meet up with friends, or go by yourself and make some new ones which is exactly what I did. I think I now know everyone that works at Hand, and wouldn't trade any of them (especially Vanessa)! Sure there are other places I could go, but I choose to return to Hand because of the comfortable setting and the good food, especially the Pub Burger and the Tobasco Pecans. Bring your friends, or just yourself and your personality, and you should have an amazing time that will keep you coming back time and time again.
- Pros: Great staff, comfortable setting, great patio
Sassy is fun when you have a sense of humor.

Frank210290 obviously doesnt have a sense of humor and has an awful warddrobe because every time I have been in the Hand I have had the time of my life. And sassy little Vanessa is fun. Learn how to take a joke dude.
Too sassy for her own good?

So I had just moved to the Highlands and I had been to Hand in Hand a couple of nights for their trivia (Wednesday night). I walk in after a football game wearing my team's jersey and when I walked up to the bar, the waitress, Vanessa said "Zip up your coat or get out." I knew she was joking, so I hung around a minute and had a beer. When I tried to explain that she was making me uncomfortable, she was entirely aloof. Her point was that because her regulars know and like her I was being irrational for having a problem. I pretty much begged her to give me a reason to come back to that bar ever again, but she was too cool (self-indulgent) to make any efforts to make peace with me. There are plenty of bars in the neighborhood, so I ordered a shot from the other bartender, tipped him well and left, never to return again.
Good single crowd

The laid-back atmophere is something that is very appealing about this place - I can go wearing a t-shirt and jeans and still look dressed up - awesome place to hangout on Fridays - very busy and good drink menu
incorrect charge
by southside1
I recently went to Hand and Hand, after running a tab with the bar a few days later a charge was shown on my card for more than the original amount. The strange part about htis is the fact that I had PAID IN CASH, after speaking with the bar, corporate and the District Manager nothing has been done about this matter, since that point. I suggest that if you do attend that you make sure not to run a tab with ur card if you plan on paying with cash, to prevent any problems in the future.
- Pros: Location
Prices are to high and portions are too small
by tiarajunkie
Hand in Hand - I like the atmosphere but your manager/ owner should get out and have lunch around VH area and see what your competiors are serving up. I order out everyday for our company and for the money and especially during the lunch hour your prices are too high and the portions are embarrassingly small. My clients do not want me to order from your restaurant because they say they are still hungry even when they have had a full entree. If I had the meal suggested on your website for lunch I would have spent about $25 bucks on the food alone and that's without the pint or two I normally would order if I was going to dine in. I don't mind paying for quality food but most places near by are able to serve quality food, reasonable portions and still keep the price afforable.
don't bring high expectations

i know Wednesday night is probably not the best to use as a judge of a place so I'll try to keep this somewhat nice. The place was pretty empty but being in a high traffic area, parking was a bit of a hassle. I was excited to be at a bar that offers a good number of imports and allowed that and the classic seal signage to persuade me into ordering a 5.25 pint o' Guinness. I wouldn't have minded the price if the beer had been poured properly- not dripping down the sides and over a quarter foam when it was placed in my hand. We didn't stay for food, but it looked like slightly gourmet versions of traditional pub fare with basics mixed in. Overall, I think the place tries too hard to be upper brow and falls short of its goal.
