Every person there tells you different things about what you're paying for vs what your getting. Then they send you on a wild goose chase so you never get refunded for what they "assured" you you were getting. My group of friends got took for more than $200 and we weren't the only ones in the club complaining. If you want to sit down/lean ANYWHERE the actual cost in between $300-3000. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!
- Pros: pretty
- Cons: looking to rip you off at every turn
I got tricked, and apparently I’m not the first….
by JasonCar
I had a very unfortunate incident at Opera about two weeks ago. I came in here to post my experience and I read some of the older comments. The same exact thing happened to another customer in May. This is absolutely ridiculous.
I got a table at Opera with 3 friends. Promoter at the door promised me one price, but when I received the tab the price was 3 times higher. I asked to talk to the promoter, but they said that he had taken off one hour before. They said that they were going to call the cops, but we called the cops first. The 2 officers showed up and said that we had to pay to avoid going to jail for “defrauding an innkeeper”. I couldn’t believe it! Thankfully we had the money to pay, and we are going to contest this charge. But what if they had come with a tab for $5,000???? We would’ve had to pay to avoid prison????? I wonder how many people have already been tricked like this…

Great place... poor music, hospitality, drink selection
by TDM
Went on July 16th...place was packed but the DJ couldn't get the party jumping. They advertised free drinks until 11pm, stopped serving drinks a quarter to 11pm. No rum other than Captain Morgan, no Patron, no Midori...none of my friends got the other drinks they asked for. It was hot and muggy. Even Monica tried to liven things up, but the DJ was simply GARBAGE! Nice place, glad it was free, won't be going back though.
- Pros: spacious, elegant, short wait time
- Cons: music, bar
Best dance club
by CathyTalbo
Opera is the best nightclub i have ever been to! Great people, great staff, great music, and great drinks! There was a fight nearby when everyone was leaving and one of the security guards made sure that me and my friends were ok after we had been shoved down by the guys that were fighting. I thought that was a nice gesture.
- Pros: best atmosphere and classy
- Cons: none
nice & shallow

- Pros: lots of pretty ppl
- Cons: not much soul
THIS HAPPENED JUST 1 WEEK AGO... (MAY 2009)
by MarkHowey
Please read this because it happened just 1 week ago. This is an honest review coming from a person that used to be a fan of Opera.
Last weekend I went to Opera with a group of 11 people to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were greeted at the door by one of Opera’s promoters. He said that he could offer us a great deal: a table for our group, 2 bottles of vodka, and 2 bottles of champagne for $450. The 11 members of the group listened to his offer and we were all very excited and accepted it. We got to the table and everything went well, but the 2 bottles of champagne were never served. At the end of the night, we all went to a room located downstairs to pay for the table. AND THIS IS WHEN THINGS BECAME RIDICULOUS. We were shocked when we were given a tab of $850. We informed the Opera employees that there was a problem with the tab, and that we had been told that the price would be $450. Two bouncers came to the scene and tried to intimidate us into paying. They said that the promoter that had offered us the deal had already left, so there was nothing we could do about it. The Opera employees were EXTREMELY rude, and kept on saying that we had 10 minutes to pay or else we would all be thrown in jail. We called 911. The police officers said that the only thing that we could do was pay the $850 tab and then contact the credit card company the following day to contest the payment. They said that the promoter who had offered us the deal was gone and that nothing could be done at that time. In the end, we had to pay $850 to avoid going to jail.
Needless to say how upset we all were by the incident. The credit card company has already been contacted and we have hired a lawyer to initiate action against Opera.
But the most upsetting thing was the way in which we were treated by the Opera employees. We were verbally humiliated, we were kept inside a room for over 1 hour and never did they even consider the possibility that we weren’t just trying to get away from paying the tab. BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU GO THERE. ME AND 10 OTHER PEOPLE LEARNED IT THE HARD WAY.
- Pros: Good Atmosphere
- Cons: Service
Opera!!!

I really like Opera, it was my favorite club to go to until last Friday night.(5-1-09) When we were all leaving, a fight broke out. I understand that the bouncers and all of the security need to take care of the situation and get people downstairs, but when someone gets hurt in the fight like being pushed into the door. I think they should take the time to help that person. My friend could hardly walk and the bouncer told her to "Get the f*ck outside!" He didnt care, even after we explained to him that she could hardly walk he didnt care and kept telling us to get downstairs. We were all trying to tell him that we needed to stay with her because she was hurt and he told my friend that if she didnt get downstairs he was going to "kick her in her p*ssy." Which for such a "nice" and "sophisticated" club I thought was completley out of line to say and very disrespectful!(This bouncers name was John) Also, before all of this happened when we were at the bar, the bartenders were very rude and didnt know if they had the kind of vodka I wanted or not.(STOLI?) And to top it off, someguy on the dance floor stole my friends wallet. And in the end, we were all waiting out in the rain to get to talk to someone. Of course no one cared! My friend could barely walk down the stairs and no one bothered to help us. But when a drunk girl came out of VIP there were probably about 3 bouncers all around her trying to help her down the stairs. FUNNY how that works. I'm not saying dont go to Opera because it is a very fun club and I like it. I am just saying, that if you get hurt dont expect anyone to help you. And you will probably end up getting disrespected by a bouncer or a bartender.
- Pros: good music, different rooms, good drinks
- Cons: long lines, gets kind of crowded
