Really enjoyable stay

From the valet service to checking out of Chateau Elan we can only give our compliments to the staff for a great vacation.
Highly enjoyable!

My family and I drove here from Atlanta after my son heard about it when the reporter fell while stomping grapes. Although our initial reason for going was quite silly, we ended up having a ball here. It was quite elegant and the spa was just fantastic!!! Be sure to take the wine tour!!!
Lots of Character, Great Around Christmas Time
by gregtreadway at Citysearch
The Chateau is marvelous. The tours and activities are top notch. I have also been to the spa a couple of times which was absolute luxury. The spa is much better here than in a hotel. This spa is a stand alone facility even though they do have their own rooms. The spa is grand with very professional people. Around Christmas time is the best time that I enjoy the Chateau and the adjacent hotel. There are loads of activities like ice sculpting, riding horses, balloon rides, petting farm, and even christmas carolers dressed in Dickens style attire. They have a lighting of the building and even Santa comes. My children like to see Santa arriving in actual horse drawn sleigh. This is the season I recommend. If you're going to stay at the hotel during this time be sure to make reservations as I know they fill up fast. Be sure to take advantage of the breakfast the morning after Santa comes.
Lack of Customer Service Costly
by atltraveler2 at Citysearch
Beware when making reservations at this place. If they've made a mistake on your reservation (such as putting in the wrong date), if you don't catch it on their email you'll have to pay for their mistake (even when they admit they entered the wrong date). In my case, this meant getting billed for a full day of "relaxation and fun" when neither I nor my guests were there. Not the customer service I expected from a "4 diamond" resort.
Best Spa in Georgia
by truro1234 at Citysearch
Excellent service and ambiance. Chateau Elan Inn and Winery definitely surpasses any other spa that I have ever visited. The theme rooms were very unique and romantic. I would highly recommend the spa for a spectatcular Valentines Day weekend or a great girls get away.
Tranquility at it's best
by jrichardson65 at Citysearch
My initial visit was a 3 day company sponsored event that included golfing, horseback riding and the day spa. They pampered me to the fullest. The food and presentation is in a class all by itself. A person can live on the desserts alone. The rooms have different themes which was great. I enjoyed the wine tasting and tour of the facility. It is a really great weekend get away. The staff go out of their way to make you feel right at home. They were at our beck and call.
- Pros: Stairway To Heaven
You people are crazy :)

I'd consider myself a fairly regular guest at the Chateau. Of course I'm not a fan of chain hotels either so suppose I'm a bit bias. My suggestion is shop smart---hit the website and sign up for their specials. I'm staying for tomorrow nite (friday!) for 99 bucks. Yeah I'll spend more on dinner and golf Saturday (oohhh yeah!) for the lady and me, but compared to a fri nite in ATL I'm saving a stack. Then again im also not a fan of atlanta crowds....so maybe stick with atlanta chains if that noise is what you're after. Cheers!
- Pros: golf, spa, plenty of restaurants
- Cons: can be a hike if your south of the perimeter
Romantic package=$ but no value
by c50tour at Citysearch
We just returned from an overnight romance package. Food was good. The service was acceptable. The surroundings, room, and overall experience was not. When we checked into our room, we immediately noticed that our toilet was broken. This was not seen as an overwhelming problem for us, because we were going to dinner (expecting the problem to be taken care of before we returned). When we did get back to the room three hours later, the toilet was still broken. When they did take replace the needed part, taking up some of our extremely rare time together, nothing was offered in apology or recompense.
The attention to detail was severely lacking.
For a winery we really expected the wine to be of much higher quality. It turns out the only thing high was the price.
For the money this was not a good value. I agree with other reviews that compare the rooms to mid to upper range business hotels.
For our next romantic getaway I think we'll choose a high end chain hotel, have a better experience, and leave with more money in our pockets. Oh, and this time, we'll bring the wine.
- Pros: The food is okay
- Cons: Way too much money is required for absolutely no more value than your local hotel.
Romance Package Not Worth the Price
by juiceman8 at Citysearch
Would be a good value for half the price. Rooms are plain and nothing special, reminded us of most mid-tier business hotels. Dinner was included at Cafe Elan and was terrible. Ordered the "signature dish" which was fish and it looked like it had been cooked for three hours. The service at the Cafe, however, was excellent and they did everything they could to make it right. The wine tour lasted five minutes and the wines are terrible. Check the ratings (84 is best they have for any of their wines) before you waste time tasting them. If your looking for romance, I would spend the same money on a nice bed and breakfast in the country and go out for a good dinner and bottle of wine. You'll save money and have a much better time.
- Pros: Service
- Cons: Poor value, Poor wine, Poor rooms
A posh escape to golfing, spa pampering, wining, dining and romancing just outside the city.

The Scene
Tycoon Donald Panoz opened this elegant French-style chateau in 1985. With its flourishing 200-acre vineyard of vitis vinifera grapes and French-American hybrids, it's become Georgia's premier winery. But it's also a thriving weekend respite, with a 276-room inn and conference center, eight restaurants, four of the area's best golf courses, a spa, a tennis center and an equestrian show center. The world-class resort is an especially popular meeting destination, in part for its 25,000-square-foot conference center.
The Details
The inn's rooms feature oversized tubs with separate showers, country French furnishings and warm pastels. The spa also offers 14 guest rooms, each uniquely decorated around themes including art deco, western, Asian, Gatsby and Greek.
