Terrible Service.... – Last night my boyfriend and I stopped by Cinco for a few drinks and a bite to eat before going to the movies. We got to Cinco a little more than an hour before the movie started so that we would have plenty of time. The restaurant was empty except for one other table and a few people at the bar. Our server (Tara) seemed to be preoccupied and a little tipsy from the start. We ordered the Salmon/Crabcake entree and since neither one of us eats shrimp, we asked her to please put the sauce on the side. Of course, she forgot that. The food sat on the table for more than 15 minutes while she sat a table nearby (apparently some friends who were dining there). We had to get her attention so that she would come check on us. By this time, we really did not have time we really did not want to wait for our food again, so we ordered one more drink and asked for the bill. She was apologetic and said she would have the entree removed from the bill (like she was doing us a favor). Then brought out desert....we couldn't eat those either because of diet restrictions. They should really hire more experienced servers, we wont be back.
Great (more Mex than Tex) Restaurant – I really enjoy this restaurant, actually one of my favorites. I really enjoy their food and their desserts are really gourmet and tasteful!
Decent food – Considering its Tex-Mex the food was decent. The place itself looks good on the inside.
A Lasting Impression – I am all for giving second chances because hey who does everything right the first time around… I mean we are humans and we ALL make mistakes right? In life you learn that it doesn’t matter how you make the mistake, it’s what you do to fix it and more importantly that you learn to never make that same type of mistake twice.
With that being said… Cinco Mexican Cantina has definitely learned that lesson 100 folds over! The first time I went to Cinco my experience was not so pleasant, and I did voice my opinion not expecting anything in return but WOW! Did that establishment prove me wrong! It all started when the CEO of FIVE Restaurant Group (owner of the Cinco Mexican Cantina restaurants) called me personally (yes little ol’ me) to apologize about my experience and invited me and my 30 guests back to the restaurant for dinner.
When we arrived for the dinner party the customer service was outstanding! Our waiters- Tony and Levon treated us with 5-star service. Levon reviewed and explain in full detail about each item on the menu, I was totally impressed! Not only was I impressed but my guests were so happy. One guests said I feel like I am on the Food Network because the wait staff was there for our every need! How could I forget the food… very very very good! My food was excellent; I had the grilled salmon with a jalapeño potato cake and asparagus. This dinner was really for my guests because had it been just for me I would have never complained about the first dining experience, but my guests came to support me and I wanted to make sure they were happy and they were more than satisfied with our Re-do dinner yesterday!
I learned a very important lesson- why not give a second chance? You never know, the second chance might be a lasting impression. I will remember Cinco Mexican Cantina as a restaurant with great service, suberb food, cool atmosphere and amazing customer service! You should definitely try it out; I promise you will not be disappointed. Muy Muy Bueno!
Amazing food, excellent ambience... Price fit to pocket – must go...
Love this place! I have a new favorite restaurant! – I have been to Cinco for lunch twice in the past 6 days, and I'm already craving it again! The food is so incredibly fresh tasting and the atmosphere is cool, and really unlike anything else you will find in the Cumberland mall area. Personally, I could eat Mexican food everyday, but the dishes I've tried so far at Cinco are not your usual mexican...they're mexican with a twist! like refried black beans instead of pinto, Portabello-taco's and pineapple in your burrito... really cool, and more importantly--tasty! I am so glad this place opened up so close to home!
Yummy food, fresh ingredients, amazing salsa. – Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Cinco for lunch. CInco Mexican Restaraunt was such a great experience. I have been in Atlanta all week on business and this has by far been the best lunch I have had. Particulary the freshness of the salsa and chips, and all the ingredients. The fajitas were hands down the best yet. I had the chicken and steak combo fajitas...They came with guacamole, rice, beans, and pico de gallo. The meat was fresh and grilled to perfection. I HIGHLY recommend trying this place.
Let them work out the kinks – I honestly didn't have a good time here and I usually give everyone a chance until they just piss me off.
I hung out this weekend with friends and it started when the waitress showed up. I could tell she was new when she barely smiled and didn’t tell us her name. She took our drink orders and my starter order and then left us….and forgot to come back. Luckily we saw her again about 10 minutes later and flagged her down to remind her.
We decided not to eat there, because it wasn’t a good sign. But we changed our minds….and stayed anyways.
We flagged down the waitress to give her our order and she took it and wrote down everything. I asked her name and she told us. Finally. She left and forgot about us again…until we saw her and flagged her down about the order. She blamed the slow response on the crowd. Its Mexican food; not an upscale cuisine. When our food finally came out, it wasn’t right, cold and things were missing. We finally began to eat, and the food was really comparable to that of most chain restaurants. There was nothing authentic about it or great. It was a Mexican restaurant and there were no Latinos waiting table, playing in their live band, tending bar, managing, or hosting. But you did see them bussing tables. When asked, they said they did not eat there either because the Americans don’t use flavor to cook with. All in all, we got some things taken off the bill due to a very attentive and courteous management team. But the next day, I saw that my waitress charged my card twice for a very unfulfilled meal.
I’ve been advised to give them three days to see the credit on my card. It’s like food poisoning; it just stays with you.
