In Short – Following the very welcomed cultural trend of sleek, hip, sexy hotels replacing the old guard of stuffy, chain hotels, Palomar wows you from the get go. The lobby is filled with tons of colored marble in big square blocks, some of which glow with backlighting while guests lounge on zebra striped chairs. Heading to the rooms, contemporary art and sculpture fit right in the scene and the rooms are outfitted with funky hounds-tooth patterned carpet and furniture with flat screen TVs and comfy beds. Know Before You Go:
All the floors 12 and above have better skyline view than the others (which are blocked by the neighboring buildings). Make the request for one up top.
The Extras:
If your reservation places you on the 11th floor, ask to switch to a different level, the service elevators are located on that floor and could possibly create a noisy nightsÂ’ sleep.
Parking:
For just stopping in to grab a drink or have a bite, the $30 valet parking is absurd, though semi-standard for overnight hotel guests.
