The freshest and most sustainable seafood around with frequent lobster & oyster specials that are kind to your wallet.
"Hooked" on Seafood!. I frequently have outta town guests and they look forward to dining out at a new restaurant every visit. So, of course, I couldn’t disappoint them, since seafood is their favorite food, I decided to take them to this new sustainable seafood restaurant, “Goin’ Coastal” in the Virginia Highland neighborhood. “Goin’ Coastal” what a catchy name! We visited the restaurant on a Sunday, so our dining option consisted of their “Sunday Supper” menu( a fixe prixe menu), $17 for a 4 course meal(Kids $6), 5pm-10pm. What a great idea, very reminiscent of my childhood days having Sunday Dinner at my grandma’s. Sunday Supper offers guest a starter(fresh green salad), one of 5 seafoods or meats and shared family style sides(collards, cheesy grits, veggie medley, red potatoes salad), did I mention, there’s also dessert. The food is seasoned well, cook to perfection, the salad and sides, are all you can eat, so come hungry and ready to “chow” down(LOL). Reservations are a must, the restaurant fills up fast! There’s also a full bar, there’s plenty of neighborhood street parking. Walk, run, Swim, just get there! Now, don’t dine alone, be sure to bring your family and friends.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Goin’ Coastal takes the conscious, farm-to-table philosophy and applies it to Southern-style seafood. Selections at the Virginia Highland restaurant are chosen with the current supply and ecosystem in mind, and every catch is out of the water and onto the plate within 36 hours. Regardless of the philosophic hoopla, the food is damn good, and the setting--brick walls and vintage fishing photographs--is charming, as is the gratis basket of moist, crumbly cornbread. Fried platters (shrimp and catfish) instantly transport you to the coast, and heavy sides like buttery cheese grits and bacon creamed corn are distinctively Southern and distinctively good. Cementing the restaurant’s true Southern roots is the pecan pie, baked by none other than the owner’s mother.
