What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying

Pizzeria Vesuvius
Pizzeria Vesuvius died once, but like a cat or a character in a video game, it's been given another life. The comeback is courtesy of P’cheen chef Alex Friedman, who has revamped the menu and put both the Neapolitan and New York Style pies front and center. You’ll definitely find the usual ingredients to top your 'za, but we'd encourage you to get a little adventurous with some baby arugula, house cured bacon, or Bone Lick ham. What’s Bone Lick, you ask? Well it’s spot #3 in their empire, a BBQ joint on the westside coming soon.

Tips for Pizzeria Vesuvius

Citysearch Editorial Review. Lodged in a space off Edgewood, Pizzeria Vesuvius has a vibe that re-invents Mellow Mushroom of the '70s with a psychedelic sign, uniquely topped pizzas and a basic beer hall-inspired booze list. And despite pizzas named after mountain chains--the Kilimanjaro is stacked high with sausage, ham, pepperoni and bacon--the pies are good. An Italian wood-fired oven does wonders to the thin-but-chewy crust. The gimmicky menu might have foodies rolling their eyes, but this is a casual atmosphere with a fun menu. And pizza, after all, is supposed to be fun.

Best "Brooklyn-style" pizza in atlanta. This relatively new pizza joint opened (I think) within the past year on Edgewood, in the O4W. They have a great variety of pizzas to choose from, but have enough toppings on their own that you can pretty much get whatever you want on your pizza, within reason. They are friendly, never have more than an hour for delivery time, and the one time they *really* messed up our order, they fixed it, gave us almost twice the food, and didn't charge us a cent for any of it. The people are always nice, friendly, have a good sense of humor (they delivered to our pool last weekend), and the toppings always taste VERY fresh (I hate canned toppings. bleh). Their large pizzas are HUGE and are always piping hot.

I used to live in Brooklyn and I'm a tough one to please with pizza. You can't find a much thinner crust than this one in Atanta. If you can't fold a slice in half, I don't want it. If you have a similar mentality, this place is definitely for you. Also, save your leftovers and you will love yourself in the morning, because this pizza is awesome when it's cold too. (Ooh! If you try the buffalo style pizza, please post a review, because I've been DYING to try it, but I'm just a scaredy-cat.)
