My daughter and I have discovered the great taste of thai food and wanted to share this with him once he was home. We ordered probably 10 - 15 different dishes cause we wanted to try different things and wanted him to experience a wide variety of the food. Everything has so much flavor, and we enjoyed it all. BUT the calimari and the pannang curry was just out of this world. Another fantastic item was the beef jerky " let it cool" before you eat it. GREAT!!!!!!
Outstanding and unique version Thai food in SoBu..
In Short
With two hugely successful restaurants already in the family (Nan, Tamerind Seed), the Niyomkul family’s third endeavor puts their daughter, DeeDee at the helm, and marries the expected elegant presentation with Thai street food. Cutely named after taxis in the mother country and perched above Peachtree Street in the old Taurus location, the room is spacious and comfortable but retains the same fine dining aesthetic as Nan. And the culinary execution matches perfectly. Small plates dominate the menu: sai krog isan is a put-it-together fun plate of sausage, ginger and cabbage, spinach pods (mieng kum) pop with lime and ginger accents, grilled pork skewers hang pendulum-style for bonus presentation points. Of the big plates, catfish grilled in a banana leaf shines as a gentle reminder that while outstanding, this is still Thai street food. The location is peculiar but the execution makes the venture well worth it.
Tasty, But Too Expensive! Location?. We have been fans of Tamarind and Nan for years. And they are great. We were excited when we heard Charlie and Nan, and their daughter, were opening in the old Taurus space, in Brookwood. It looks great. We sat at the bar for lunch. Same menu for lunch, as dinner. Gosh those prices are high, for this economy. And the portions were very small. You have to order several items to eat, in order to feel full. That's fine, but it's not a $30 lunch! And that small sign, they have facing Peachtree, looks well.....! Hope they can make it with dinner, but lunch, the place was sitting empty!
