In Short – No seats, no plates, no booze? No problem. Antico was supposed to be a take-out spot for West Midtown, but the pizza is so good it’s customary to stand around and eat it out of the box. It's run by three endearing Italians who import nearly everything from their homeland (flour, coal ovens, ricotta). Atlanta has nothing else like this, and the pizza is absolutely fabulous. Ridiculously outstanding pizza. Interesting dynamic.

If Antico had a corporate mission it would probably be (in my best awful Italian accent), "We make-a-da pizza! Where you eat-a-da pizza? That's...how you say....ah yes....your problem." This is a create-your-own dining experience, and if you come during peak times, don't bank on getting a chair either. Luckily, this pizza is just as good standing - trust me, I've had it both ways.
If Varasano's set a new standard for pizza in Atlanta, Antico inched the bar up a little higher. The crust, the sauce, the cheese, and the toppings are all as fresh and delicious as I've ever had.
Bottom line: Don't take your honey there on a special occasion if you're hoping for an intimate dining experience. Instead, take a small group of friends, some beers and/or a bottle of wine or two, an open mind, and enjoy the best pizza you'll find in Atlanta. Then leave so I can have some room at a table!

Atlanta's best Neapolitan style pizza

This pizza was wonderful and reminded me of my time in Italy...only isn't five stars because as good as it is, it isn't QUITE the real thing. But it's as close as you'll get in the south!
