Londzell's is CLOSED! – I have never been to Londzell's, we were headed there on Friday Night April 22, 2011. We had bought tickets for AXE Atlanta Folia 2011 which featured banda ai delicia from Brazil. We were really excited to hear some Live Brazilian Music and the pictures of Londzell's just looked amazing. When we arrived to the location on Friday Night around 9:30, the doors were closed and the place was out of business... There was a guy out front who worked for the promoter and told us that they just found out tonight that Londzell's closed . He told us that his friend owns a sports bar and they moved the event there at the last minute.. Luckily they moved it to Tony's Sports Bar on Roswell Road, so he told us to drive on 400 to the next exit #6 which only took about 4 minutes. I thought this might be a scam and they took our money.. But I was familiar with Tony's Sports Bar because we had been there to watch Brazil in the World Cup Soccer and I heard they have Brazilian Nights on Friday. We held our breath and reach the front door of Tonys and there was the Band from Brazil on Stage... Our night was back on track and we were excited again. We had a great night at Tony's, there were about 150 Brazilians in attendance. After reading all the bad reviews about Londzells, I'm glad our night turn out good.
Needs work – We used to go to the original Londzell's a few years ago. This new endeavor has some serous flaws. Here are the good, bad and the ugly.
Good. Location, parking, food. Bad. Service and costs for that service. It costs $10 to get in. And that's fine since there is live entertainment, which was overly loud, but was indeed entertaining. Drink prices...high and very poor selection. I asked for 3 or 4 different liquors and they had none of them. Nothing extravagant. Items any well stocked bar should have. Got my bourbon in a tiny snifter that was embarrassingly small but cost $9. Food prices fair for the quality. I ordered the Talapia, my girlfriend ordered the bourbon glazed Salmon salad. They brought her instead the Salmon plate. This is where the service began to break down. We are sitting at the bar mind you. Bartender seemed disorganized and much more interested in selling drinks then servicing those of us who already had been served. I found out why when the bill came. They add a 20% "service charge" to the bill. I was a bartender and waiter for years back in the day. When you add a service charge there is little need to provide good service. Bartender is getting a tip regardless and a good tip at 20%. I go to use the mens room and there is an "attendant" working there. I am compelled to tip so I give him the smallest bill I have $5. He barely acknowledges it. No personality...kind of like our bartender. Plus the whole rest room attendant thing is not necessary and makes patrons uncomfortable, since they feel compelled to tip and all they wanted to do was use the rest room, not pay to use the rest room. Later when we asked for our check...we sat and waited. Once it finally arrived we found we were charged another $5 for the Salmon order mixup - should have been charged for what we ordered not the higher priced wrong item, and then we sat and waited. Bartender literally ignored us. We were invisible to her. It seems that adding a 20% service charge (on a party of two no less) provides little incentive for actual service. Bartender was much too busy selling drinks to others who also would be subject to a 20% service charge I assume. Keep in mind we are sitting at the bar. We waived the check at her...she ignored us. Finally another bartender took our check, shook our hands (maybe she realized we had been ignored) and bid us good night. Londzell you need to pay attention my man...I've run clubs and restaurants and you ain't going to make it on poor service, high costs and poor selection of drinks. Spent over $100 on two fish dinners, 2 glasses of house wine, one bourbon (small), and two lousy desert drinks Kahlua and cream which were actually two glasses of cream with some Kahlua hiding in there somewhere. Can't see running back there anytime soon.
Provides Awesome Entertainment – I was there as a guest of my girlfriend having a birthday party. She had made reservations a week in advance and also called to confirm the reservations. Unfortunately, when she arrived, no such reservations were listed under her name. So she and a few others had to find seating and everyone wasn't able to sit together. Also, my sister and I arrived later and no one (host) was at the front door to provide direction. So we just walked around the room until we found our party. We were able to locate a table near the kitchen. We set there for 27 minutes (waiters and waitresses continuously passed us by) and no one offered us a menu or would come to take our drink orders. Eventually, we had to stop a waitress and ask her for a menu. We asked for an Apple Martini w/ Grey Goose and what we got was not what we asked for. And when we questioned the waitress about this, it appeared that we were speaking a foreign language.
However, the entertainment was awesome and made an over whelming impression!!! I did not attend Londzell’s to eat dinner. We ate before we got there. I attended this establishment to support my girlfriend in celebration of her birthday and to check out the band, Londzell’s performance on the guitar and the over all ambiance. This brother was fabulous!!! I was impressed. But had I went there with the intentions of dining and with the expectations of superb services from the waiters on a crowded evening, I’d probably suggest you go elsewhere.
Not ONE, nor TWO, but THREE HOURS AFTER ORDERING..... – Readers, I hope, for your sake, you’re reading this review, not because you too are preparing to post an awful report on your experience, but that you’re researching the restaurant before crossing the threshold, because then, and ONLY then, will I have the pleasure and honor in sparing you of the most HORRIFIC RESTAURANT EXPERINCE that is Londzell’s. There are so many supporting arguments I could post to discourage anyone from even contemplating spending hard-earned money and precious time in this restaurant. However, due to the word limitation AND to save myself from recounting this permanently scarring experience, I’ll be brief and summarize my disgust!
Unfortunately, I hosted my company holiday party at Londzells on 12/11. First, let me start by saying the women’s restroom was flooded! Ladies and gentlemen, there is nothing worse, then having to trudge through several inches of filthy liquid in a restaurant restroom, then attempting to mentally overcome the thought after returning to your dinner table. Fortunately for me, my food never arrived...But, I'm getting ahead of myself here. So, prefaced by my headline, here's the rest of my story:
Not ONE, nor TWO, but THREE HOURS AFTER ORDERING, drinks (if you ever received them) were being served out of red plastic cups, our appetizers had not yet arrived, half of my party received nearly FROZEN entrees and the food for the lucky remainder of my party never arrived. Those who did manage to receive portions of their meal at an edible temperature, were tortured by the lack of silverware and were tasked with watching their food chill right in front of their eyes. The kitchen staff not only ran out of cups, but also ran out of cutlery. Fortunately for us...the kitchen staff had a plan (hopefully you can read my sarcasm)! Their ingenious plot was to wait until someone else's table was cleared, silverware was doused with water (I say doused because it would be a stretch to say they actually dropped the silverware in boiling water, come to think of it...maybe that's where and how all the hot water was used...because it definitely wasn't used to cook the crab legs or the lobster). At this point, I had had enough and stormed into the kitchen, which was being guarded by the emcee, it seems other patrons also had reached their boiling point (which sadly our food did not have the same pleasure - by the way, where are those forks anyway?), I demanded to speak to Londzell and commanded he stop the bleeding, clear my bill and free us from this forsaken night. Londzell, himself, simply waved his hand and walked away, as if he made this same decision countless times before and with ease!
Readers, PLEASE, I'm certain you can find another place more deserving of three hours of your time. I hope this review helped to spare you and your favorite pair of stilettos!
Londzell's Need Serious Work – My wife and I, alone with another couple recently spent an evening celerbrating my birthday at Lundzell's. Our first time going. I was very impressed with the ambiance. I hadn't made a reservation (no indication a reservation was needed) and found out every sit was booked for the night because Saturdays are Birthday celerbration night. After speaking with the hostess a table was provided. Now what was disappointing. The sitting that was provided was brought in from the patio and about an hour after setting there I had to go to the restroom and found my behind was wet from setting in the chair. My food was good, but could have been warmer. The waitress completely forgot about us after the dinner tab had been paid. There was a celeberity there celerbrating her birthday as well and the MC made it apoint to let the audenice know, but barely acknowledge paying patrons you were also there celerbrating their birthdays. I believe Lundzell is in trouble because I was watching him working the moment we got there. He was doing everything but greeting his paying guess. My father use to tell me a man can not run a successfull business working along side his employees, you should stand back and watch others do their jobs. That's what a manager is for. There were many other noticeable details that needed addressing when it comes to customer service. I would go back to Lundzell's, but I want go for dinner or on a Saturday night.
STOP! DO NOT GO TO LONDZELL'S!!! – OMG, I don't even know where to begin...TERRIBLE FOOD, TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT/OWNERSHIP. This is my 1st time EVER posting a comment about anything, but I would be remiss had I not. I would rate this place a zero if that were an option.
Despite being warned by a friend about her bad experience at this spot, another friend and I wanted to listen to some live music, so we took the plunge and drove 45 minutes way to Roswell to Londzell's.
The music was mediocre. Service: There was 1 waitress serving a 30-person station! Although she was pleasant and trying her best, this was a disaster. It took 50 minutes for our food to come out! Speaking of the food (grits and shrimp)...the grits were as thick as molasses and our drink glasses were dirty (lipstick on glass from previous user!!!) Yes, totally unsanitary!
When our concerns were cordially brought to the owner's attention, Londzell himself, words cannot explain how rude, discourteous and unprofessional he was. With this individual running the shop, I'm not surprised he was forced to close his previous location. Makes you go HMMMM! Mr. Londzell, word of advice... study Chick-Fil-A's business model on customer service! Cuz, BABEE, you have terribly missed the mark!!!!!
DO NOT drive all the way to Roswell for this, you will be totally disappointed. Save your gas and your money! Needless to say, I will NEVER return to this establishment! BTW, sistahs, there were virtually NO MEN in the joint; maybe 15 (and 10 of them were coupled up).
Highly disappointed – I was so disappointed. I'd heard such great things about this place, but boy oh boy.. This place was very disorganized. Staff looked clueless! Oh and they were understaffed. I waited 40 minutes just to get 2 drinks. The Band sucked and the DJ played every line dance song it was. Everyone was so unprofessional. There was a young lady there that had a party and I really felt sorry for her because nothing was done right for her and when she tried to express her concerns with management, they just blew her off. They had 2 Bartendars and one large bar. The restrooms were nasty and I over heard Guest complaining all night long. I tried to patronize a black owned business but I was only let down. Don't waste your time or money...
Londzell Martini Lounge – I've been to this lounge a couple times and each time i've been, I have really enjoyed the live entertainment & dancing. The drinks & food we're exceptional. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for a good evening of entertainment.
I'LL BE BACK!! – This is my third time coming to Londzell's and felt I had to write a review---something I never do! This place is one of the coolest joints in the ATL. Where can you go and here good R&B these days in an smooth lounge atmosphere? Only at Londzell's. My friends and I just fell in love with this place from jump. Not to mention the food is soooo good and you get good portions. If you love martini's, if you love to party this is the place to be. Londzell, the owner, is very personable and friendly.
LIVELY ADULT ATMOSPHERE!!! – Roomy adulty friendly party atmosphere if that's your taste or just bop your head to the live band or simply relax and enjoy a great meal, this place has it all. Among the best, get out of the house and mingle with other adult venues in Atlanta. We truely enjoyed our Londzell's experience.
