Cute, clean and quick: Healthy Greek for those on the go..
In Short
Lodged in the Peachtree Battle shopping center, Birmingham-based Zoes Kitchen is a bit like a Greek version of a Chipotle. It’s cheap, boasts a clean, modern interior and has a menu that strangely melds healthy Greek options (pitas, kabobs) with well-executed Southern staples (pimento cheese, homemade limeade). But for the area and demographic, it works. The Greek salad is an instant classic while German-style potato salad comes refreshingly tossed in vinegar rather than heavy mayo. For Southerners, their chicken salad sandwich is legendary in Birmingham (read: it’s good) and seems to be carrying on that tradition in Buckhead. However, trying to eat the Greek chicken pita is like trying to eat a salad without a fork, and isn’t worth the trouble. With quick service and a fresh, light menu, the place is slammed during the lunch hours. Plan appropriately.
