True mixology not gimmick. These ladies and gents knew their stuff, really. Great space and fun vibe was fine, but the bartender mitchell, just kept running with a couple basic flavors and created wonderful drinks. That is by far my favorite and most interesting bar of Atlanta. And perfect idea to put it in the W!

Modern space, fabulous cocktails. After going to the famed Milk & Honey in NYC, had to go check out that bar mogul guy, Sasha Petraske's Atlanta bar. First, if you've ever been to Milk & Honey, this is NOTHING like it. Milk & Honey is almost private (gotta know a phone number to get in) and is dark and tiny. Drinkshop is more like something you'd see in LA. Very modern and spacious with weird looking low-to-the-ground chairs. It totally fits in perfectly with the W Downtown vibe. Not my speed, but I have to hand it to em, they're cocktails are pretty much perfect. They'll cost you $12 or so, and beer is dumbly expensive, but getting an Bee's Knee's or Gold Rush will transport you to a different time. For the cocktails, it's quickly becoming my favorite bar in Atlanta.

One Up-Manship For Atlanta's Prime Cocktails!. Gosh, the last year or so, it seems like all the best new cool Restaurants & Bars, are in many of the newly opened hotels. Is this a trend? After a maxed out Business Account Dinner @ BLT Steak, we went for a nightcap at Drinkshop, also located in the new W Hotel Downtown. Sleek, modern, and Sasha Petraske, of the famous NYC location, was tending bar, to get things kicked off in the Big A. Very professiona guy, with a quality vision of what a proper bar should be. Everything from ice cubes designed for certain drinks, to old fashioned stemwear. My parents would have loved all this detail. And I was more than impressed. I put myself in Petraske's hands, and it did cost me a pretty penny. Worth it, oh yes. After the dinner bill at BLT Steak, why not just go for broke, and a great quality drink!

Vintage-channeling bar gives cocktail buffs reason to cheer.. Bucking the Gerber-W Hotel trend in Atlanta, the W Downtown snagged a different New York bar-star, Sasha Petraske (of Milk and Honey fame) to open it’s classy second floor watering hole, DrinkShop. Like a cocktail-slinging time machine, DrinkShop goes old-school in philosophy: There are no soda guns, ice machines or flavored vodkas. Cranberry juice is not available however fresh raspberries are. Ice is hand-chipped and sculpted depending on the cocktail, and for those non-drinkers the homemade ginger ale is a tart, puckering option. Specialty drinks might cost $13, but they aren’t crafted to be carelessly speed-guzzled like light beer at a frat party. The silky smooth “Bees Knees” combines gin, lemon juice and honey while egg whites get separated for the “Clover Club.” Obviously, these cocktails are meant to be sipped. The modern décor doesn’t quite fit the retro-mentality, but the décor is not why you came.
