Best Restaurant with a Bar in Sandy Springs

I finally made my way to Hearth the other night after hearing great things and was completely impressed. Their pizza was totally unique & fresh. The bar was decently busy for a Wednesday and there was an over all great vibe. I'll definitely be going back.

Low Cost, Low Service, Low Expectations

My boyfriend and I arrived at 7:30pm on a Thursday and were forced to wait- no biggie- but they had no place for us to stand other than in the doorway and thus had to move back and forth around people trying to exit. A couple came in behind us and had to wait outside, as there was literally no room, even for 2 couples.

Once we finally were seated, the appetizers were basically unappetizing which is amazing since I was starving, and could have eaten almost anything. They had some eggplant chips and calamari- neither of which looked worth ordering.

We shared a salad, which was basically lettuce with 1/4" cubes of veggies sprinkled in so you couldn't ever get them on the fork. The ONLY salad dressings available were vinaigrettes (they didn't even have RANCH!) which I begrudgingly ordered. The red wine balsalmic (house standard) looked like an oil slick, and tasted like one (plus the sensation of being punched in the face with tartness). I choked a few bites down and settled for sitting with a grumbling stomach.

Literally 30 minutes+ later, our ONE pizza arrived, which was "The Cure" (bacon, sausage, pepperoni and cheese) one of their standard pies. It seemed like a single order from the menu should NOT take that long to create. It made me wonder-they claim to make all of their own ingredients, but do they make every one fresh to order? If so, I'd rather eat sooner and eat ingredients cut that morning.

Trying to flag our waitress down for the check was like pulling teeth. My boyfriend works in the service business and is always overwhelmingly polite, but even he was getting irritated at the long wait. We eventually were able to wade through the unruly children running wild and leave the place. Less than 30 minutes later, we were both running to the bathroom.

Overall, not a good idea.

• Cons: Slow service, plain food, indigestion!
