“It's inside the Vortex so you get great food and drinks before and after the show.”
“Great venue - Small enough that the comedians can interact with people, but not so small that you feel like you're in someone's basement!”
“The ticket prices are usually reasonable, and it has the added bonus of being inside the Vortex, so if you show up early enough you can grab a delicious burger before you head in for the show.”
I seriously love this place!!.
I've been to other comedy clubs and this is by far my favorite. In fact every time I purchase my tickets on-line I get a small adrenaline rush, because I know there are some super good times in my
future.
In my opinion this is the best setting to bear witness to all different types of live comedy. By that I mean legends like Emo Phillips, Stoners like Doug Benson, Intense dudes like Graham Elwood, Spitroasters(aka Margaret Cho) and even baby new jack comedians.
I have plans to take stand up classes here in the future, and can't wait for my chance to get up on that stage. Honestly, when is the last time you went somewhere and had such a good time it helped you decied what to do with your life?
Unless you're an alcoholic at bar, you probably don't have an answer for that. But this is my experience and I wanted to pass it on....…
Atlanta’s most intimate room for big-time comedy..
In Short
Anyone who’s read the hilarious “rules of the restaurant” on the front of the Vortex menu knows Atlanta’s favorite burger joint has a good sense of humor. So it makes perfect
sense that their Midtown location also happens to house one of Atlanta’s best comedy clubs. Lodged as a separate room in the back of the restaurant, the tiny Laughing Skull Lounge makes you feel like you’re seeing stand-up in someone’s living room. The smattering of seats and cash-only bar only adds to the “Where am I?” effect. So get there early to grab a burger and beer, and revel in the fact you’re seeing national acts on a stage they probably outgrew years ago.…
Tiny but comfortable. Love it..
Although it's tiny, the seats in the Laughing Skull are comfortable, and aren't crammed as close together as many other comedy clubs. The ticket prices are usually reasonable, and it has the added
bonus of being inside the Vortex, so if you show up early enough you can grab a delicious burger before you head in for the show.
I advise going with the middle seating rather than the tables up front. It seems like the tables would be better, because you can lean on them, but really they're small and you're so near the stage, you can almost touch the comic's shins. (If you're looking for a good shin-touching, though, tables up front, all the way.)…
Great!. Great venue - Small enough that the comedians can interact with people, but not so small that you feel like you're in someone's basement! Was there last Saturday, and a good time was had by all!
Finally A Comedy Lounge For Us Intowners!. Laughing Skull Comedy Lounge is long overdue. And it's part/adjacent to one of our fave Burger Joint's, The Vortex. No traveling to OTP/Sandy Springs. The progressive guests are great. When Hollis Gillespie takes the stage. I'm rolling in the aisles. Maybe we might even catch a glance of Suzanne, and one of her many bikes. The spirit of Lenny Bruce lives!…
