Mudcatz review!. One guy with pretty nifty chef credentials (Todd Scire) devoted to Mudcatz make a difference. Chef Todd worked for Au Pied de Cochoun, Tucker Country Club, Cooks Warehouse, The Blonde Thai Chef and a list of others that reads like a VIP list. He was also a chef a T-Bones. Not only are the ribs properly slow-cooked, the roasted chicken rates as well. Mac ‘n’ cheese is made with large tube pasta and comes quite cheesy with a lovely top crust. Slaw is very fresh tasting and delightfully crunchy with a kick, as if all the vegetables were chopped by hand; we also suggest the collard greens. Dessert might not be Chef Todd’s strong point as he said, but the strawberry cheesecake with fresh vanilla whipped cream was some of the best I have had. He told me he is training his cooking team from the ground up and sources much of its raw material from local purveyors, making a real difference. Even the salmon is flown in fresh. I had the honor of Chef Todd actually sitting down at my table and talking about the upcoming new menu and asked for out thoughts. He seemed to care what we thought and was a wealth of info. We even got him to tell us how he made the BBQ shrimp. We had been to Mudcatz before, nothing like now. If the food stays this good, we have found a new favorite chef!

Now, do not take this the wrong way but service was a little slow and the server was more or less on her cell phone most of the time we were there. The chef I think said something to her but when he left she was back at it. So here is our rating……

First CLASS. A friend of mine and I were looking for something different as we drove through the streets of inviting lights of restaurants and Pubs searching for decent food and good music to kick back and listen to with no hassles? We ventured onto the the plaza at Dunwoody where we encountered three decisions; The Wasabi Bar, The Taveren, and the really nice landscaped, gated restaurant we felt might be a little more than we could handle as far as aristocratic class or just some hole in the wall...Well unfortunately we went with the middle of the road(regular venue and "safe" road) I would never recommend it at all...We tried the Tavern and to our dismay, the smoke left us literally crying in our beer and we couldn,t believe the bar food they offered!!!!We were so pleased with the warm welcome at Mudcutz and the beautiful servers and handsome servers. The food was unique and fresh and besides being able to go out on the covered patio (I have smoked for twenty years) but I really don't want to encroach on my friends..we really enjoyed the restaurant and the feeling of home... Leaving without SMELL you later feeling, or WOW I really can't wait to go back!!!!!!!! Mudcatz is the BOMB!

What a dump!. If you like listening to the same lame 70’s cover bands, bad food, watching drunk middle-aged divorcees hook-up while their tween kids dance to Skynyrd covers, this is your bar.

Everyone else, kick it at the Tavern with the hotties!

Mudcatz Bar and Grill. "This is where you want to eat. A restaurant that’s friendly and unpretentious, casual but nice enough to make dinner feel a little special. You’d love to walk over to the pool room or garden room, but don’t worry about parking it won’t take forever to find a parking space the parking lot holds a hundred or more. You can just show up at the door and know you’ll get a table before too long."

"Mudcatz represents the yearning of its upbeat owner and a chef that is out of the wold for new specials every day. I have been there two times and every time I see new specials and the chef is always happy make some special dish by request. This is not a chain I was told and I did see a fresh vegi truck bring in a lot of stuff.

"Hamburgers are on homemade local buns. Lunch specials just under eight dollars. Friday night shrimp boil, catfish nuggets, shoft shell crabs and crawfish boil. sweet potato fry's are the best in town."

The home town band was great and I thought that they were the real deal. Glow was the band name but could have been any name. They were very good.

"Everybody knows how a restaurant works. A greeter of some sort takes you to your table. A server gives you a menu and you choose from a variety of items. The server comes back and puts the food in front of you."

Here it takes a little longer to get the food, but my food was great and I know my food. The soft shell crab was just right and the portion was big.

The reviews below do not seem to give the place the credit due. Try it and you will see why I have been there more than one time.....

kid friendly great bands!!. My sister and i went for a evening luch. The waiters where polite and easy to conversate with. The food was GREAT. I haven't had a burger like i did that day for a long time. We also relized they had a band setting up. It was nice to sit down and enjoy a band and burger.

Bar is OK, Food and servers are HORRIBLE. My friend and I went for a couple of drinks and a light meal. The barman was very rude in tone and demeanor. The food (sandwiches) were perfectly awful. I had a reuben that contained maybe one slice of tough corned beef that had a slightly off taste. The bread was stale and hard; the french fries were straight from Ore-ida.

If you want a few drinks, Mudcatz is fine but eat before you go.

YUM!. This place is getting a lot of mixed reviews and I do not understand... this is by far the best cajun food in the area. Our waiter was great!

Great raw oysters! Kid friendly. Went there with my 9 month old and husband and it was great! The Apalachicola oysters are my favorite!! The wait staff was super nice. the place was clean, spacious, with the look of upscale restaurant without the high costs and stuffy feeling. I've gone back a dozen times since my first visit. It's my family's favorite spot in Dunwoody to eat, dine and enjoy being together.

terrible service, overpriced. called three times to place order and no answer - drove there to place order in person and the hostess didn't apologize or say anything when I mentioned I tried to call and got answer. She just shrugged her shoulders. She really could not have cared less about her job and could not have been less friendly which made a very bad first impression on top of the fact that I had to order in person and spend an extra half hour waiting there. The food is fine, nothing extraordinary, may as well have been Zatarain's. They serve cajun/creole dishes which is somewhat hard to find in this area so that's good, but other than that, for the price and the attitude I got on my first visit, I would not recommend it for good cajun/creole food. The place itself seems pretty cool, the bar is nice, lots of tv's and a separate room for live music, but if the service is always like what I got, I wouldn't hang out there.
