Royal disappointment. Our first visit here. It was a Saturday night and Place was fairly crowded. There were3 waiters running around but no results. Tables were waiting for service and food. You could read other customer's disappointment from how they were looking around and searching for some service. Finally food arrived. Portions were so stingy. So called, soup was in a tiniest cup, for example. Taste is not what we at all expected. (We are regular to Indian restaurants) Very watery dishes (rice was good though). All the people at our party was unhappy with their excessively hot (spice) dishes (we had ordered mild). When we told them , their solution was to offer some yogurt to tone down the hot spice. Later, I tried a dessert (kheer, I think), which was the worst ever I had in any Indian restaurant. It was very runny sweet milk and a few pieces of rice. We will not go back there again and I bet you will be disappointed as well.

Excellent food in relaxed atmosphere. Just the best Indian food I have had in Georgia. Excellent service, tasty food. I just love it and will be back with friends. No longer will I have to think of that Indian Restuarant in Virginia. Oh! that cheesecake was so creamy. DELICIOUS!!

The best of India in the States!. Wonderful service, excellent food, classy decor - what more to ask for?

LOVE the papadams, the India tea, the lamb korma, the seafood birhyani(sp?), the basmati rice, the mango ice cream...

As one reviewer commented, the food can be spicy - but you can ask for your entree to be mild, medium, hot, or burn-your-throat and it will be cooked to your specifications. My tummy sometimes doesn't like spices but it loves The Viceroy - and so do I!

FANTASTIC Food and SERVICE!. BEST

INDIAN

FOOD

EVER.

We have been here one time for lunch and the buffet was unbelievably great and tonight we thought that we would try their al a cart night time menu. Poonam, the nice lady owner, seated us and suggested that we get the dinner for two that includes a samosa for each, tandori chicken AND shrimp, lamb or chicken masala (mild curry unless otherwise requested), vegetable korma, fresh naan, basmati rice and desserts (oh MY!). The moment that you sit down you get papadams (think of them as tasty Indian chips) and a great cilantro/mint/pepper sauce (think of it as a not too spicy salsa) for a snack. When they offer to bring you more, just say no otherwise you will fill up on them instead of saving room for the other tasty goodies to come. The samosa is an almost greasless fried pyramid of potatoes, peas and spices that is served piping hot with a tamarind sauce (use the rest of the green cilantro sauce, or ask for more if you like a more spicy sauce) and is crazy good. As with the papadams, you will want another but must still save room for dinner. Dinner is served with PIPING hot, fresh out of the tandoor (big, hot ceramic oven that you have to kind of throw the bread onto the side of and take out...by HAND! OUCH!)naan, brushed with garlic butter. The tandoori shrimp and chicken are perfectly cooked and juicy, served on top of still crispy peppers and onions. The lamb curry (we got lamb instead of chicken) is the most tender I've ever had I could have drunk the sauce. Instead I dipped the remainder of my bread in it. It was fantastic. Vegetable dishes here are made of FRESH vegetables and while the sauce is unbelieveably great, you can still taste the veggies (a GOOD thing folks!). The basmati rice that is served with dinner has a wonderful flavor of its own and once the dinner is served with it, it's even better. If you can still eat dessert, the pistacio kulfi (homemade ice cream) and the rice pudding (I don't remember the correct name) are fantastic and that comes from someone who's not too wild about sweets. Now that you have had an overview of our meal, what you cannot quantify is the care with with the food is made. It is impossible to make food this good, served with this care in this beautiful of an atmosphere without having wonderful, kind, creative people behind it. They are here. It is definitely soul food, no matter where you come from. Please, if you have never before had Indian food, come here. If you have had Indian food before and thought it was just ok, come here. If you think you don't like Indian food, by all means COME HERE AND TRY IT - you'll like it! If you already love Indian food, still come here, you'll be as impressed as we were.

We love it and cannot wait to go back! Oh yes, and they serve beer and wine also! A nifty bonus!

Really Great Indian Food.. One yardstick I use with Indian restaurants is to see how tough or grisly their lamb is, and The Viceroy passed with flying colours! Large pieces, tasty but not tough at all, which means they gave some care and thought to their meat selection, as it can be very hard to get good lamb in the states. All the other items we had were as good as I've ever had in an Indian restaurant as well. The Lentil soup was outstanding! We took away enough for easily another meal or two in our doggie bags. (Way too good to throw away!) Staff were very attentive and friendly; overall, highly recommended.
