Pleasantly Surprised, Great food and service. When meeting with friends recently they suggested J. Alexander's. I thought i had been to every restaurant in Dunwoody, but I had no idea where it was. As it turns out I've driven by it many times and never noticed it. It is where Houston's used to be (didn't know it was gone).

When I finally did get there I was pleasantly surprised. The decor was updated a bit from when it was Houston's and the food is very similar. There seemed to be a few more options than Houston's provides however. Servers much friendlier and more personable than Houston's. Service was great! We had a party of 6 and it was seamless. Hostesses opened the door for us. Managers and servers (about 5 different ones brought or took something from the table) were all friendly and efficient.

The food is just as good as Houston's, maybe better in some ways. The calamari appetizer is maybe the best I've ever had. I had Ribs and my wife had Grouper with a crab sauce on it. Both were awesome. The table shared 2 desserts; carrot cake (again maybe the best I've had) and "powerful cake" which is a towering ice cream concoction with snickers, oreos, caramel and nuts. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to go back.
