“There's no denying its a nice club, but it is way overpriced (more than $100 per month plus hundreds for the intiation fee).”View Less
Midtown is a nice club but ..... Midtown Athletic Club is pretty good overall if you don't mind the monthly cost. Its spacious, clean and hardly ever crowded. This club is more of a tennis/racquetball/basketball/social club than a weight-training facility. So, if you're looking for a serious "gym", this may not be for you. On the other hand, this place definitely has a good atmosphere and pleasant members (a very small percentage of the rift-raft and undesirables you usually come across at gyms in a large city like Atlanta). If you're goal is just to get/stay in shape and like lots of cardio equipment, aerobic and yoga classes, tennis, basketball, etc., this is an excellent facility. The only thing I would warn new and old members about is the personal trainers. There are a couple of good ones but most have absolutely no clue about training. For instance, there is one particular personal trainer who has been working there for many years, but has totally no idea what he is doing. He appears to be uneducated and has a complete lack of knowledge about weight training and dieting (which is obvious to anyone who is experienced in this field), but he constantly babbles on about his ideas and makes his trainees perform silly, useless and even dangerous movements. Unfortunately, he may be jeopardizing the health of the trainees with his weight training methodology. Besides his foolish training and diet ideas, there is another simple way to determine that this " personal trainer" has no clue -- just take a look at his physique. Yes, he is "cut" but he's badly disproportionate -- top-heavy with legs that remind everyone of a flamingo's. This clearly reflects that he does not know much about training because, if he did know anything, surely he would remedy this situation. Again, this is just one hint that this guy has no clue about weight-training; listen to him expound on his ridiculous diet and training methods and you'll have the complete story. If you do join Midtown, its best not to use their personal trainers. If you must, then be sure to look around carefully, talk to other members and get one of the better trainers.…
Can you say...WOW!!. This facility provides a rebuttal for every excuse any person could make in regards to procrastinating with their body's overall health wellness! What do you like Swimming? Got it, indoor and outdoor...Tennis? Got it, indoor and outdoor...Raquetball, Got it! Personal Training? Got it! In addition, there is this new sport that I just learned of called Squash, similar to raquetball, an amazing sport! Like attending group classes? Got it! Cycling? Got it! Kickboxing? Got it! Basketball? Got it! I can go on and on and on with this. They even have a nursery for those needing childcare while they work out! Hungry? No problem...they have a full Cafe in this facility! Enjoy the WIFI capabilities, rock wall climbing, sauna, steamroom...this place is wonderful, a grown up's playground! Not to mention the staff of people that they have working there are phenomenal. They provide everything that you need, you only need to bring yourself! Leave the towels, soap, shampoo, EVEN workout clothes...they have a pro shop where you can get these items! You have to see it to believe it! I joined immediately and you will too! See you there!…
The best club in the area by far..... This club is not only the biggest and nicest, but has every kind of class and type of equipment any male or female could hope for. The outdoor and indoor facilities include rockwall, tennis, basketball, sand volleyball, squash, swimming, and more. There are trainers and Pro's walking around everywhere and you can get sessions with them any day of the week. If you want to work out, drink, eat great food and have a social life, this is the place.…
Simple the best members only health club in Atlanta.
This is the most wonderful club in the city to be a member of. All the staff are polite and attentive with a "what ever I can do to make your visit better" attitude.
The club is spotless, the members friendly and social.
Midtown is a very easy place to feel at home at and there is always something new to do it really is so much more than a Tennis club, ( I don't even play !)
Where Gold's,24hr and lifetime are crowded dirty and intimidating Midtown is relaxing refreshing and stimulating. The personal traning staff are extremley well trained with a huge variety of backrounds, there are also a large veriety of classes Pilates Yoga and aerobics.
The Tennis facility is state of art and they regularly have visits from Tennis celebritys Wayne Bryan was there coaching last week.…
Excellent tailored programs. I don't generally take the time to post on these; but this deserves mention. I began playing tennis here; and in an effort to dramatically improve my tennis game, I started personal training. Now with a personal trainer and a tennis coach working together to improve the weaknesses in my game and tailor my fitness program to work specific areas, my game continues to improve exponentially. They even coordinate with my massage therapist to help focus on specific muscle groups for improved flexibility and injury prevention. I could not offer a higher recommendation than the team at this club!…
