Atlanta >Whiskey Blue
“And the views are just great.”
“The management was rude and classless in handling my complaint and I will never again go to a glorified hotel chain bar filled with prostitutes again in my life.”
“We like the presentation, the crowd, and the ultra cool staff.”
An Easy Choice for an Upscale Evening. Whiskey Blue is one of the hidden gems of Buckhead. It's on the rooftop of the W Hotel and has a sexy, breezy, modern vibe. I like to take out of town guests here to show them the classier side of Atlanta. It's a good place for a date as well, since the atmosphere is not really like a club, so you can actually talk and mingle. Later in the evening the DJ goes on and the party vibes really get going (okay, I've been known to start dancing after a few too many cocktails...). There are lots of couches inside and outside, and one patio has another bar and a nice view of Midtown. We usually just hang out at the bar or find open couches, but I have reserved a table with bottle service in the past as a surprise for my fiance's birthday. If you are with people you need to impress I'd go this route; the hostess and waitresses make you feel special, and there's no chance you'll have to move from your couch in case someone else reserves it (this has happened to us a couple times, but we've just gone back to the bar or found other couches). Overall the drinks are good- ask a bartender for a cocktail recommendation if you want something fancy. The crowd is a mix of all types, which is a nice change of pace from the club scene around here. It's worth checking out- if you don't like it, at least there isn't a cover!
A SALUTE for this place!. When we walked up to the entrance, the two guys at the door were so cute that my girlfriends and I couldn
Might I say.... Whiskey Blue is one of the best bars in Atlanta I have been to! Immediately when my girlfriends and I entered the bar, we were greeted by staff: hostess, security, and server. The room was buzzing with life and plenty of good looking people while the DJ spun not only popular top 40's but throughout the night, dub step, house, and 80's music. Neither my girlfriends nor I have ever been to Whiskey Blue before and so decided to grab some drinks from the Atlanta Terrace bar as all the tables had already been booked for the evening. Immediately when we stepped out to the Atlanta Terrace, we couldn't help but look in aw at the amazing view of Downtown Atlanta. After taking a few quick photos, we went up to the bartender and asked her what was a good drink, that we had never been there before. She listed a couple of her favorite drinks on a drink list and *** wait for it*** best part~, while we were looking over the drink list, she gave us a round of complimentary shots, and man o man were they delicious! It was actually so good that I asked to have it as a cocktail. It was a beautiful pastel purple and tasted like a blueberry cosmo, not too sweet, not too tart. I DEFINITELY recommend everyone to try this drink when coming up to Whiskey Blue! Overall, loved the ambiance, even though there wasn't a dance floor, it didn't stop anyone from dancing. I LOVEEEE how there is no smoking inside, the service was exactly what the term entails: good, hospitable, and helpful; and the views stunning. Who wouldn't want to be caught at one of the most amazing bars in the city. The prices are a little high, but you get what pay for in atmosphere, creative cocktails, and hospitality.
Take Notice. Whiskey Blue is just that, you feel as though you have been invited to a private party for exclusive guests only. From the large glass elevator that delivers you to a long corridor to the swank leather couches that fit one of Buckhead
lame. So, I've got nothing against swanky and pretentious(really) but this place tries very hard to be something its not! First of all, no where to park, except for 20$ valet...are you kidding me? Second, drinks are super pricey and not all that interesting or good.Third, food is lousy and over-priced...and lastly, the crowd is not that hip. Very wannabe-ish...I can think of a hundred other bars in atl that have better food, drinks, people. Sure, the patio is nice, but so are a zillion others. Don't waste your time or money!
Love this place!!. I frequent this establishment quite often during the week and on the weekends for quite a few reasons. During the week is a great place to go in for an after dinner or before dinner cocktail. the couches are comfy and chic, and when the weather's nice the patio is the best spot. Also, it's not too crazy and loud in there during the week, which makes it great to bring clients, friends, family. On the weekends is a blast. DJ's are always great, and damn those waitresses are HOT. Usually a great crowd Friday and Saturday, love to stop by and say hi to my favorite waitresses.
Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. Rarely would such a warning be given. However, the rude manner in which most of the staff attempt to extort money by shaming and insulting their customers is cause for this review. The other comments about reservations and being treated badly were experienced by our group. The doorman and his comrades were so impolite that after trying to humiliate us for not reserving an overpriced table, and then not letting some of us in, he physically tapped my arm and loudly asked "did you invite all these people?" (Just because people may look alike, eg. same race, does not mean we know each other). I won't go into detail but will mention that though the bar is fairly beautiful its image is tarnished by the staff's behavior, except for Monique. She was the perfect server and one wonder's why she is there. If you'd like bad treatment, high prices, hotel valet parking prices, and mingling with tourists or those that don't know any better, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, Atlanta has so many other genuine, enjoyable and unique lounges/bars that are truly upscale, any would be better than Whiskey Blue.
The Worst Experience Ever at 4th of July Event. After reviewing the ad on the internet to eat dinner and watch fireworks at the W Hotel's bar Whiskey Blue, I thought - great idea. I WAS WRONG. We walk in the door and we were greeted by the hostess Summer, who rudely told us when we asked where we should sit to have dinner that we either had to buy a booth outside for $1,000 for the evening or pay $400 to sit inside on the couch. The tickets or advertisement never indicated it was standing room only, and my assumption was that if they were serving food, there would at least be a place to sit and eat. There were other bar top tables and 12 chairs in the entire bar and they were all taken. After speaking with the manager, they "allowed" us to sit on a couch inside and was assured we could order food, and if someone purchased the seat, we could finish our meal and would not have to move until we finished eating. That's where it went from bad to worse. We ordered our food and drinks. We got the drinks, however after 2 HOURS, and asking several times, our food still had not come to us. Finally I asked a staffer to see if he could help us and he finally brought our food. It was cold and as bar food goes, it was the worst. We we inquired what the issue was with the food and why it took so long and they blamed the W Hotel and said they had no control because the food came from downstairs. What a poor excuse. When they finally delivered our food, the rude assistant manager dressed in a white dress, came over and told us we had to move because they "sold" the couch we were sitting on as asked us to pick up our food and drinks and move to another couch (remember we were assured we could finish our meal). They kicked out four other people off the couch and we should be happy they accommodated us. I finally agreed to move because I didn't want to make a scene. I invited one of the kicked out couples to squeeze on the couch with us because they rudely were asked to move as well. All in all THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had at any establishment ever. As far as customer service, this place ranks as the worst and Rande Gerber and the W Hotel should be ashamed to have their name attached to such a poor business. Stay away from this place at all costs unless you want to overpay, eat the worst food and deal with the rudest staff in the city.
Velvet Rope Club stinks. This is very reminiscient of clubs in LA...If you want the velevet rope experience, meaning only getting in if you slip the bouncer money or put on airs, than this is the place for you. If you want a more relaxed atmosphere to just have fun, this is not for you. I won't be going back...
